Rant: Got layed off
Hey Redline could you be more specific on why you think it will get worse. I'm not doubting you it's just I have a freind who's business relates to the housing market. He seems to think that come spring time the market is just magically going to be better. I keep trying to drive the point home that it just isn't going to happen over night but he seems to think so. I could use some more ammo to back up my opinion. The simplest way to say it is tighter lending guidelines, adjustable rates, and irresponsible lenders qualifying borrowers that never should of been given a loan in the first place. Now they cannot get the same loan as before, rates adjust, they miss payments, and the bank forecloses...this is what is currently one of the largest burdens on the economy in the financial sector(Cliff note's version). You want to see people losing their jobs, should of seen the subprime lender employees who are no longer employed.

***BR Elite-January 2008 ALPSTER***
Although I have never had the pleasure of meeting Ronnie I fell he is the perfect candidate. Giving is something that seems to come first hand and anytime I read one of his posts I always feel like I need to give more of myself and become a better person, because he shows that it is possible. I also have never seen any judgemental or biased posts and that is something that can be hard to do when being a normal contributer. Either way congrats Ronnie and you are truly the type of person I try to be, but have a long way to go

Mono Or Braided Line Diameter & Baitcast Spool Question
First figure out what the line reccomendations are for that baitcasting rod(listed on the rod). Then if you are fishing mono get a mono diameter that matches. The same goes with braid however the braid diameter is normally far less than the lb rating. For example on my St. Croix rods, which are premiers and avids, I have 40-50 lb test because the line diameter is equal to 10-12 lb test. If I use Yozuri hybrid then I will use the 8-12 lb test which I have in stock. But generally lower lb test will cast a little farther.

You ever had one of those days when, no matter how hard you try...
Oh my lord I am crying because I am laughing so hard ;D I have had some bad days where I wanted to do similar things but never did. Trying to print the computer screen...priceless.

ALLS TARS AT CABELAS
Muddy, I know it is unfortunate but it will help your mental health! I have an Avid that has gone unused since getting it and I get it out and drag it through the yard, flip it into a bucket, all sorts of things that make me look and feel crazy. The ice will be around for a while so I think you have a little time man. Either way its not the first time any of us have been let down by the lack of equipment

Braid!!! Where have you been all my life!!!!????
The use of braid depends on what kind of water you are fishing and what application. I will say I am a big fan of braid, but this year I am going to use Yozuri Hyrbid on my rattle trap/crank reel. Other than that it will be braid because I fish mostly stained or muddy farm ponds and love the sensitivity, while not being worried about visibility. IMO you cannot find a better jig/worm line if your water is not crystal clear. I also love it for spinnerbaits and frogs and you can feel the bite and do not need an eye crossing hookset. Although I still try to cross their eyes and have lost fish because of a hard hookset and no stretch it is an issue I am willing to deal with. However on a trip to Lake Vermillion catching smallies, I realized braid was not a good line with smallies because of their aggressive nature and big runs. I also do use it on spinning tackle as that is my 'more finicky' presentation and use 6 lb Yozuri Hybrid Ultra Soft thanks to RW and have been very impressed. I cannot say the same for BC gear though.

St. Croix Rod...Deal..or.....No Deal!!!!!!
Do not take this the wrong way, I would say no

spinning rod
I am sorry to say, they did that with the PREMIERS, that was my first experience with St Croix and if it wasn't for you and Avid I would have thought a lot less of that company had those Premiers been my only experience. Not to cause a problem but I have had good experiences with the premier, and hoping even better with the Avids. I bouth 3 premiers for myself, a spinning for my girlfriend, and a casting rod for my little brother and have not had any problems with any of them. And to say the least they have been beaten up pond fishing. My only complaint is the Action ratings are not accurate, as my MH fishes like a pool cue although I love the 6'6 MF I got my little brother. The spinning rod...well its a spinning rod and has alot better sensitivity than what I or my girlfriend was use to and produces more fish. Either way I am very interested in more bang for the buck and am not convinced I would buy more premiers. Corey

Shimano Symetre-> Front Or Rear Drag???
Yup, pike are like bass on steroids! If we had a good fishable population around here I would be a pike fisherman and not a bass guy But go with the rear drag!

Revo SX/SX-L Users-Questions About The Reel
I have 3 Abu Revos, the S, Sc, and Sx. Each time I get a new reel regardless of what it is I set the brake and the middle setting. On the S that is 3 brakes in, and 3 out. On the Sc and Sx I set it at right at the middle between the minimum and maximum. From there I adjust accordingly and have become comfortable enough with them that I normally keep it at "3" unless there are windy condition(in which I normally adjust the cast control knob) or with light baits I often have to adjust the brake a little higher. I hope that help and my experience with the Revo magnetic brake is little adjustments make a big difference.

Predict Your '08 Hawg (and Beyond)
I am hoping one over 8, one other over 7, and 5 over 6. I had 4 over 6 last year and my PB is 7-12. Although now I am living in the area I fish the most so my numbers should go up.

This has Roybi written all over it
I loved that reel, used to use one of my buddies when I was just starting with baitcasters and it was great for a beginner and hardly ever backlashed.

Ohio State vs. LSU
Oh I got that but I think some of these Pros are so proud of where they "graduated" from or attended its laughable ;D
-
Ohio State vs. LSU
Exactly why ALL Big 12 fans ALWAYS root for the "other guys"! So, if OSU wins is Kansas #2 or is it THE University of Missouri Tigers? : 8-) I love how people tend to use the word THE, like there are many others that they have to distinguish : Just sounds silly to me that they place emphasis on THE instead of the actual school. OSU 27- LSU 17

spinning reel
Shimano Symetre Daiwa Theory ( on sale at TW for $60 ) I would second the Shimano Symetre, I bot one used and it is a fantastic reel and if I used spinning tackle more often I would own more of them. I think I picked mine up for $50 shipped in excellent condition. I have also fished a Pflueger President and was impressed although it was a borrowed combo so I do not have the prolonged experience I do with the Symetere.

My Fav. worms...gone
I would say go with a 10 inch power worm or for a better price I like the Brushy Creek Lures 10 inch worm...very good product and has some meat to the body. As far as how I fish them, similar to Alpster, normally 1/8oz weight with a 5/0 Gammy or Owner EWG hook. This is by far my most productive mid summer lure

Fat man banned from buffet
Charlie has to have a custom made belt, and that is coming from an ND fan. Although I may be a little disgruntled after this season :'(

leader or not on braid
When flipping, using a leader for braid is like telling a woman you are fishing with a smaller worm...get my point
