Long rods are finally coming to market
If anyone surf fishes, long rods are common in that industry. Nothing new in fishing. I hope they come in 2 piece.

9-10 feet kayak for beginner?
James, I use a WS Tarpon 100 for the small farm ponds and small bodies of water in the the central valley. Go to REI and take a look at the WS Tarpons. Go to Dicks and go look at the 10 foot Pescador from Perception Kayaks. They are light, fit perfect in the back of my silverado and while in the water, small and compact to move in tight spaces. I am a minimalist so one small tackle box and 2 poles. I'm 6"1 and 250 and my tarpon holds me just fine. I highly recommend that 10 footers.

When is it too much??
I have similar sleeves. I do wear them when I wear a short sleeve shirt. No big deal.

Am I normal?
You are not alone. My 2 cents, don't neglect the family, work or anything important to your family. I love fishing but I will not go for a dance recital or kid's ball game. Also, take your wife on a date so she knows you are still there.

Fluoro Faults
The reason I don't touch FC, abrasion resistance. If not mentioned, it sucks. any little abrasion, fold or imperfection, the line section is worthless. If you don't catch it, that line will break and there goes the 5lb bass. And then you have to spray it and treat like a needy wife. Nope, not for me. Then it's pricey. FC is too high maintenance for me. I will stick to braid.

7'6" Lightning Rod Shock vs. 7'6" Powell Diesel
I would tell you to go with the Shock rod, higher lure rating. I am going with the shock rod for small swimbaits like the LiveTarget trout, Castiac rainbow and Savage rainbows.

Northern California lakes cresting
The only issue I have, much of this rain, we are not keeping or holding on to. I wish we had leaders with brains. More reservoirs means more fishing.

Finding fish after flooding in California
WRB nailed it. Also, I use dark lures so they can see the lure in the dirty water.

Superbowl Commercials
I saw the rest of the video, yes, you would be angry if you voted for The Wall. it made sense but I can see how many would not like it. Skittle and Melissa McCarthy's commercial were the best. No Budweiser, Doritos or any of the classic commercials this year.

Superbowl Commercials
Brady set records but the commercials set an all time record for sucking. LOL Only one funny commercial.

~The Road to the Super Bowl 2016 & 2017~
Forget the boring game until the fourth quarter, the commercials were horrible. To many sappy and emotional commercials.

Lake Chabot Bass Fishing
From Norcalfishing.com "Chabot is very popular with trout anglers and like most EBRPD (East Bay Regional Park District) lakes, it has a regular trout and catfish planting program. The best trout bite can be found from the fall through spring months, catfish during the summer months. Some impressively sized, Largemouth Bass have been caught here including the lake record, a 17 lbs. 10 oz. caught in 2002. Catfish, Crappie and Bluegill can provide good summertime fishing." Just with this info, trout swimbaits all day. I would get a kayak and just go crazy. I have never been there but I will be in Fremont in a couple of months, I might just have to sneak out.

Kayak Trailer Ideas
A buddy went to Lowes and bought a simple trailer. He then customized the trailer to his own needs.
