Lake Berryessa
I know we can keep bass to eat, the state allows, I think, 5 here in California. These poachers are not breaking the law if they keep their five. But, morally and ethically, it's wrong, I think. That I know of, no law has been broken but the purpose is not right. I feel the same. WRB read above and is it 5 we can keep?

Lake Berryessa
Mods, if this is not appropriate please discard. This dude, Cameron Smith (Captain Cam), is going around pushing for the killing of bass to protect the salmon, trout and kokanee. he is holding derbies and encouraging people to keep/kill the bass per Facebook posts. Any truth to this? I found this article but it does not talk about the removal of the bass like on FB. I hope this is a lie.

Accessory rail for kayak
We do. Our o-line is the anchor for the whole team. Where they go, we all go. They will get us to the SB. Come on Boys. To add, my wife is a Packer fan. She hates the Cowboys. Her #1 item on her bucket list: Cowboys at Green Bay game

Accessory rail for kayak
I'm excited about this season too. I will not do fantasy this year so I can watch the Boys with no interruptions. We need Dez and our WRs to step up. Our D is going to be our biggest concern. Fudge Packers will always hate. LOL

Accessory rail for kayak
yak attack rail. Also, you can put your fish finder, rod holders and cup holder on the rail. No need to drill holes on your yak. Another Cowboy fan. Hell yeah!!!

Rods/reels for kayaking- there can be only 3!
3 or 4 rods for me. I'm a little different. 1. Heavy rod for swimbaits 2. MH rod for flipping and pitching creatures, jigs, texas rigs, frog 3. M rod for small swimbaits, buzz, chatter 4. Spinning reel for worm and light lures #2 and #4, never leave home without them. I don't fishing all applications just the ones I like. I'm thinking about getting rid of all cranks because of swimbaits. I'm weird but I enjoy swimbaits more.
-
New to frogging - will this be a decent rig for starting?
No need to change a thing. Great set up for many applications.

Cheap rod
Another vote for Berkley shock

First Fishing Kayak
Welcome to the crazy world of kayak fishing. Just let the yak addiction and obsession take over, don't fight it. I have agree with Heavy. Pescador or Tarpon. I have the 10 foot tarpon for small lakes. Easy to lift, light to carry, Storage is easy and adding accessories is easy because of the trax system. I highly recommend the tarpon. But, go to Dicks, REI or your local kayak dealer and sit on them. If you can, demo them. Finding the most comfortable kayak is important.

California
First, welcome to the left coast. Pay all your fees and licenses or you will serve 25 to life. LOL You have plenty of info for SoCal. For central coast, you can fish for cod. Patriots Sportfishing in Avila and Morro Bay is who I use for a 4 or 8 hour trips. They provide rod rentals. Pier fishing is free, shrimp or squid. From Pismo Beach to Cambria you can do some surf fishing for perch. heavy rod and baitcaster on 30lb braid is enough. Carolina rig with 1-2 oz weight and Gulp sand worms. For Nor-Cal, Delta and Clear lake is all you need. You can stay in San Luis Obispo or Paso Robles in the central coast; wine country and make sure you hit the breweries in Paso. You must eat a bread bowl of clam chowder in Pismo beach's Splash restaurant. 30-60 minutes in line is worth the wait. If fishing is not on the schedule, golf in Monterrey, North of Pebble beach. Beautiful and just plain awesome. You can go to Santa Cruz, Golden Gate and all those place in Nor-cal. Honestly, thinking about flying into the west coast, fly into San Diego and fly out of Sacramento. Or, you can fly into Sacramento, fish cali from Nor-cal to So-cal but then drive and fly out of Vegas. A few nights on the strip before heading home. most important, enjoy our great state. Have fun and don't hesitate to ask us while you are here for ideas and stuff to do.

fishing license
The cost for the license is your left arm, you right foot, kidney and an ear. And it's only good until December.

Thinking of buying a budget kayak
Dude, for the price, great deal. Get it. And most important, no more shore/bank fishing. Be grateful that you are not stuck on the bank. Get a life jacket, a paddle and 2 poles and have a great time. For your college graduation and first job gift, upgrade. But for now, that is a great boat. Have fun and tight lines.

Kayak questions
Austin, don't be surprised if you get a good kayak and decide not to get a boat. Plenty of guys prefer a kayak over a boat. I will never buy a boat. To me, waste of money. A kayak does get you off the shore and that is the most important. Kayak puts you in places that a boat can not go. Dude, since you will be on rivers, go with a sit on top kayak. Go with a 10 or 12 footer. Dicks Sporting and Academy has the Perception kayaks. REI has the Emotion kayaks. Craigslist is cool for great used kayaks. The Walmart kayaks are lower end but get the sit on top version. Big 5 also has sit on tops. Warning here is important. If you love to fish from your kayak, you will spend a lot of money on upgrades and modifications. Have fun with it and we are here to answer any questions.

Bank to kayak
I went from bank to kayak. It was worth it. And I would never go back or buy a boat. You can take the kayak with you and you can fish any body of water. You can hit the Pacific with any kayak. I would highly recommend a kayak. Go with a 10 footer like a Tarpon. Small, light and easy to carry and transport.

Kayak fish finder size
Ok, maybe because I am on a budget and simple, but I went with the Garmin Echo 100. I wanted to stay small. All I need it for; temp, depth and bottom structure. I fish small ponds and reservoirs. i did not see the need for all the extra programs and images. So if you want to stay small, stay small. What do you want and can afford? go with that.

Looking for Kayak/1 Person Canoe on a budget
Dicks Sporting Good has the perception pescador 10 or 12. This yak will fulfill your list of needs.

Swimbait Rod?
I just bought the heavy Shock rod for this very reason. I can use it for swimbaits, cranks, flipping, pitching and punching. Plus, at $50, not a bad deal for a rod with a lure weight of 3/4 to 3oz.

Someone convince me I should be using FC over Trilene XL
Take that FC and burn it. Braid for that spinning reel. Stop wasting your money on FC. LOL

line thru swimbaits, DIY rigging
You place the treble hook on top and bottom of the bait?

line thru swimbaits, DIY rigging
I have seen many videos on the Tube but no one mentions limits. For example, what would be the minimum size swimbait to rig? 3 inch, 4 inch Hollow body vs full body? What swimbaits would be better for this rig? Size of treble hook? I was thinking of rigging the treble on top vs the bottom, thoughts? last question, how would this rigging mess up the action of the bait?
