  1. I'm a simple guy so one baitcaster and one spinning rod. Spinning for all worms and t-rig plastic. The baitcaster for everything else. As for tackle; one small box of terminal gear, one box for cranks, buzz and swim baits and the other box for all my confident plastic baits. All in a back pack. I try to fit in all in one box at times. I only take what I love to fish. Don't forget the water, bug spray, snacks and sun block. Leave your phone so boss don't bother you.
  2. Curado reel then. Great job in saving while in college. I couldn't save a penny if I had to. Frat parties were expensive. LOL Great point; it's your set up.
  3. What's wrong with your Walmart reel? If on a college budget, Black Max. If you are loaded like us old guys, Curado.
  4. Ranch C is a cool town. The BPS is off the 15 on your to Vegas. The last big fire destroyed much of that beautiful scenery. But, it's coming back.
  5. You're better off coming up to Manteca BPS to avoid the traffic. LOL Take it back and get another.
  6. Dumb question so I expect some great answers. LOL Do any of you have some rig, technique or clever way of limiting the constant cleaning of the lure? I use a t-rig and frog
  7. I fish from a kayak so I keep it simple. 2 baitcaster and one spinning reel. The spinning bus for worms and I like small braid. One baitcaster with braid, 30-40lb, for flipping, pitching, Texas, Carolina and all bottom lures like jigs. With MH pole. The other baitcaster, 12 lb mono for all top water, crank and moving lures with medium power rod. Again, due to space, I need two or three rods to do it all. Not perfect but good.
  8. I was hoping for a fight or a challenge. LOL
  9. I was at the eye doctor and I came across this top 10 list. I had to ask the doc to re-exam my eyes. LOL
  10. Look into getting a kayak.
  11. You leave the kayak on the rack for three days? If you do, I would suggest you don't. I know it's a pain but you need to take it down and store it right.
  12. Welcome to the addiction. Keep it simple to build up your confidence. Fish the way you have until you feel confident. After that, stay with Texas rig but throw a craw, beaver, creature bait until you got it. Go to cranks after that and so on. Take one technique at a time. Don't be in a hurry to learn it all in one week. Also learn about weather, seasons and how your local watts change with the weather. A lot to learn but take it slow and steady. Most important, if you are not having fun, enjoying it and relaxing, you are doing it wrong.
  13. Simple, go with the Berkley Shock MH 7 for both. At my Walmart, $40 each. Two for one.
  14. Keep it simple, mono for both.
  15. We all say; "fish on" or "got em" when we feel that tug. If you use one of these, I co-host a show on the Cali delta with you. Deal?
  16. That's what keeps me humble and grateful. I remind myself of the tough days on the shore. Also, I remind myself not to act like the boat guys. LOL
  17. Wilderness makes the Perception boats. It's the same boat but without the bells and whistles and they are also cheaper. You can get the perception version of the ride at a lower price.
  18. I'm going thru the same thing. Love fishing it but no success.
  19. I have found that I prefer flipping from my baitcaster but pitch from my spinning reel. It's not easy but with practice and practice, it's possible. I'm debating on purchasing a left handed baitcaster for flipping to see if it's easier. I've lost bass during switching hands cuz the fish bite on the drop.
  20. 8lb mono for spinning, I like 30 lb braid for my baitcaster. I tie straight to lure or hook. Just a little extra, if you decide to do braid on spinning, 6-8lbs.
  21. Stick to what you know and feel comfortable with. It's a want and not a need to have a baitcaster.
  22. spinning set up should be used for the plastics and baitcaster for the cranks, chatter and topwater. mono for the spinning reel and braid for the baitcaster if you want to pitch and flip.
