  1. I have both in 2500. My stradic ci4+ is from 2015 so I am not sure how much they have improved since then. They are both nice reels and are really light and smooth. I need more time on the water with the Tatula lt, but I really like the bail mechanism and how it closes - it just feels solid to me. You can’t go wrong either way, but may want to save some money with the Tatula. I think the Tatula looks cooler too if that matters to you.
  2. WATER30 — expires @ 11:59pm ET 5/17
  3. Me too haha. They have 30% off right now. I don’t think the 40% was even advertised on their website though.
  4. I wasn’t active on here when planning was done but would be interested.
  5. I already received my Ardito. That was super fast.
  6. Thanks for the tips and info! It sounds like a cool place for sure.
  7. Are you guys interested in fishing Widewater Saturday? I have never been there before, but was thinking of checking it out. Happy to check out other places too.
  8. Thanks guys. I picked up the 7’ MH Ardito last night.
  9. I am trying to decide between the Daiwa Ardito or Fenwick HMG travel rods to keep in my vehicle. Anyone have any experience/thoughts? The HMG comes with a m and mh tip and the ardito has a choice between m and mh. I would use it when I don’t have other rods with me so it would need to be kind of an all-purpose setup. Only $10 difference with this sale.
  10. I bought one of the bluedot scales off of ebay during the last $3 off sale, but it wouldn’t turn on. I tried to exchange it, but the seller refunded me and let me keep it.
  11. This time around I bought a SPF neck gaiter for $1.99. It might be junk, but I never had one and wanted to try a cheap one.
  12. $3.00 off purchase of $3.01 or more from ebay. Code: PERKS4ME
  13. I switched a bunch of my trebles to the owner single replacement hooks this off-season. Not enough time on the water for me to form an opinion. They don’t seem to effect the action of a Sammy I was throwing this weekend.
  14. Like I mentioned in the original post I have had luck throwing walk the dog baits on almost all of my rods (except the hf and mlm). I guess I started this thread out of curiosity to see what others were doing. It seems like different folks use different gear for this technique. I am going to experiment more and try a lh baitcaster too.
  15. I’ve been thinking about it and I don’t have a good reason why haha. I think I may pick up a left hand baitcasting reel and if I hate it I can sell it. I needed an excuse to buy a new toy anyways.
  16. My spinning reels have a higher ipt than most of my casting reels. I think I will continue to experiment with the gear that I have to see what works the best for me.
  17. Those are all 20 and 30 sized reels compared to the 1000 sized Ultegra.
  18. Do you guys prefer spinning or casting for topwaters? I can’t decide which technique I prefer. I kind of like twitching the rod with my dominant right hand on my spinning setup, but also like slinging baits quicker with a casting reel. I use rh casting reels and almost want to try a lh for this combo. It seems crazy buying a lh reel though. My 66 spinning is an avid and 66 casting is an older triumph. The triumph is my oldest and maybe cheapest rod and is most due for an upgrade, but I have kept it around for it’s versatility.
  19. This has recently become my favorite technique. I have had success using both casting and spinning gear to throw sammy 85 and 100’s and Super spook jrs and don’t really prefer one method over the other. I have caught nice bass on everything from a 7’ ml fast spinning rod with 8lb copoly to a 7’ mhxf casting rod with 40lb braid. I am curious what rods (power & action) and reels you guys use for these baits? I also recently bought a couple megabass pop max, but have yet to use them. Looking to see if I can be using a better setup for this technique. So far I have had pretty good luck on a wide range of setups, but would like to have a dedicated rod. I currently own the following rods: 1. Spinning: 7’ mlf 2. Spinning: 6’mf 3. Spinning: 6’6” mf 4. Casting: 7’1” mxf 5. Casting: 6’6” mf 6. Casting: 7’ hf 7. Casting: 6’6” mlmf Would any of these be ideal for walking the dog? Mostly fishing from shore and I am tall so hitting my rod off the ground or water is not a huge concern.
  20. Received my order already! They sent me two PopMax instead of one of each. Doesn’t seem worth the hassle to send one back for a Pop-X. The dark sleepers are smaller than I expected.
  21. Thanks for the offer! I am definitely down to fish some time (kayak or shore). I am new to the area too and have been checking places out the past few weekends.
  22. Welcome! If you don’t mind me asking, where do you store your kayak? I live in DC, but my apartment doesn’t have storage so I had to leave my kayak with family in PA.
