  1. My price per bass is really high this year ?
  2. I haven’t tried a ton of brands, but War Eagles have been my favorite so far. They can be slow rolled or burned and run true with a nice blade turn. They have a variant called Screaming Eagle that I like which is a heavier spinner in a more compact size.
  3. Lipless cranks for me too. I also don’t recall ever catching a fish on one. The rest of my collection went up on eBay haha. I love all other shallow and medium depth crankbaits.
  4. American Legacy has Duckett Terex rods for 40% off. There is only 2 casting models to choose from 7mm and 7mf.
  5. Does the canal get as blown out as the river? I finally have a weekend off and was planning on hitting the river and yesterday happened. I might need to find a lake instead.
  6. Can the winn wrap be easily removed if one doesn’t like it?
  7. Another vote for Mccoy Mean Green. I have had the same line without changing on spinning reels for multiple seasons.
  8. I have had a Shimano Sienna for about five years and it is still going strong. It performed better than a Sonora in my experience.
  9. The only issue that I have ran into was storing homemade hair jigs. Sometimes the hair will bend and kink. I have seen guys use foam inserts and fly boxes to combat this.
  10. I transitioned from small creek trout fishing to bass fishing. My first couple bass setups were cheap ultralight trout rods and a light rated 2 piece shimano. My lures were inline spinners, the smallest rapalas (jointed shad raps, floating minnows, husky jerks), rebel wee craws, and beetle spins. I remember thinking that all of the bass lures looked way too big for the fish that I thought were near me. (Turns out even small bass hit big lures). Anyways, for the first couple of years before I got really into bass fishing I caught some nice fish on my ultralight crankbaits and inline spinners on light tackle. The other day I put a couple of the jointed shad raps in my backpack to try this Spring.
  11. I would probably have to go with Lucky Craft Sammy
  12. Not really. The closest thing that I do to that would be longer kayak trips. In that scenario I store utitlity trays in my kayak or in a milk crate.
  13. Do you guys ever go straight braid with high visibility colors?
  14. I keep the bulk of my tackle at home in utility trays that are full. I also have several 3600 sized utility trays that are either for specific bodies of water, rod setup, or time of year etc. I take 2–3 of these lighter boxes in a small hiking backpack (20L). I like to travel light and not have too much tackle on me.
  15. I am in the process of trying to narrow down my collection to fewer, but more high-end setups. I am having a hard time getting rid of anything though. I am attached to my equipment and I justify holding on to it.
  16. I had a feeling that was the case. SFT sounds like a fun trip though plus I have always wanted to the fish the Susky. Also, I somehow I have never visited their online score. Thanks for the tips guys.
  17. Hey guys. Another question from someone new to the area. Where is the best place(s) to buy/handle fishing gear in the dmv/dc/nova area? I know about the bass pro in Hanover, MD and the Cabela’s near Gainesville, VA, but both are pretty far. Do any of the DSG or WalMart type places have a decent selection in the area? I usually buy online, but it is nice to handle some gear sometimes. Thanks for the help.
  18. I would fish as much as you can with the new rod that you just got to see what you like about it and what presentations it excels at. Then you will have a better idea at what you want your next rod to be. If you really need another rod and can’t wait I would probably go with a ml spinning or a medium casting rod. Baitcasters are easy to learn.
  19. I only saw one post about this reel on their account and they had a link in their bio that I shared here. The instagram account is daiwausa
  20. I bought a new reel yesterday during the ebay sale—with no rod to pit it on. I don’t know what is wrong with me. ? I keep telling myself that I am going to get rid of some of my gear so that I have fewer setups, but of better quality. The problem is I never sale the stuff I do have. Just keep adding more. Guess it’s time to look for a new rod.
  21. I have a 7’ mlf (1/8–1/2 oz.) and a 6’6 mf (3/16–5/8 oz.) that I use for smallmouth. I can barely tell the difference between the two for most presentations. I throw a lot of different lures on both bc a lot of the time I only bring one rod with me. Everything from grubs and ned rig to sammys, small square bills, and spinnerbaits. Some of these presentations aren’t ideal, but it gets the job done when I only have one rod with me.
  22. http://www.daiwa.com/us/contents/reels/procyonlt/index.html I saw this posted on Instagram this morning. Good looking reel. I thought that I had read that they replaced the procyon with another model. ETA: MSRP $159–169
  23. 15% off your cart. Max $100 off.
  24. Oops, I meant to type spool which sounds like isn’t correct either. I don’t know how to read or proofread today.
