  1. Ouch lot a $ lost on that one I bet. Nice job Broncos
  2. Designer frogs Signs and symptoms of compulsive (pathologic) fishing include: Gaining a thrill from taking big fishing risks. (lubricious priced lures) Taking increasingly bigger fishing risks. (buying multiple lubricious priced lures) Preoccupation with fishing. Reliving past fishing experiences. Fishing as a way to escape problems or feelings of helplessness, guilt or depression. Funny this list came from the Compulsive gambling Symptoms found on Google. I just swapped the word fishing in for gambling. Man it fits perfect for some of us.
  3. Mann's 8", and 12" Jelly Worms Grape color preferably but Marmalade Motor Oil works too.
  4. Not I but I am just now doing some frog fishing.
  5. Same here 50 is the most I have used. Never had a issue I could 100% say was because of the 50lb braids fault. At least not a issue that would require going heavier. If its what you think you need to do I agree with WIGuide go for it.

I would go 10" worm. Almost guaranteed to not get skunked and it lands big fish.
  8. Where did you find a power pole for $1200? I see $1800+ all over when I look. I did see a 6' Talon for $1400 but 6' is very limiting even here where I fish. Id pay the few hundred more as I would want more reach if I was buying. Anyway I agree if your not sure how much you would use them a manual shallow water anchor may be a great alternative. If you find your using them very often then powered ones may be worth the large increase in price.
  9. Very nice boat there
  10. Yeah that was why I said, But it doesnt look promising for any purchases.
  11. Wbsite works for me https://kickerfishbait.com/shop/hightail®-ribbontail-11-copy/ But it doesnt look promising for any purchases. I see CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE and the link to find a dealer goes to nowhere. Might try to call or mail them 281-470-BASS! 1710 Sens Road, La Porte, Texas 77571
  12. Texas rigged 8" ribbon tail worm. Not sure of the brand I have had them for a long time one 1/2 is a dark brown and the other half is a light brown and they are covered in salt. The original packaging has long left the building. Haven't really caught any pigs but considering its summer and it has produced some nice 3 to 4 pound lmb Ill call that a win. I was catching them on the Pumpkinseed Zman ribbon tail worm but only had 5 and they got where they didn't want to stay up on the hook. I emailed Zman and they claim this color were no longer made. The only other tan/brown worm I had close was the ones I described. Honestly they could be pink or what ever and I think they would work. I believe its more technique than color working right now.
  13. Man I would have been ticked. I would have been calling the game warden as soon as I got my stuff in order. I would have been taking pics of the ones that did it and tried to observe where they were until the warden showed up. He may not have done anything but I sure would have reported it. As for the $600 in equipment this is a perfect example for boat insurance. My policy has a $1000 clause for anything I lose like if the boat flips or is ran into etc they will pay up to $1000 towards items such as tackle or any other belongings that are lost. Insurance is really cheap on boats it surprised me. Hope your brother is OK and possibly will go again some day.
  14. If you never have them you cant very well miss them. However I haven't seen anyone that has them say they didn't like them. But again after spending the farm on them what else can ya say. tcbass has a excellent point also if your fishing is 90% in deeper waters probably wont be of much value to you. I did read a post where someone said they had a issue with the Talons fitting in the garage I think. I am sure some of the guys with them will chime in in the morning.
  15. I hit a pond Saturday and one Sunday on my 10' pond prowler. We landed over 50 Saturday and over 100 Sunday. Fishing has been exceptionally good for numbers biggest was about 5lbs. So the holiday weekend was ok here. Had a friend camping with family at the lake he said fishing was out of the question. It was all recreational tubing skiing etc.. I already had that figured from past experience.
  16. I was going to say on my phone I didn't see a delete anywhere. But Mobile is different sometimes. Thx for checking on it Glenn.
  17. I would shout out for the Rangers but seems like every time I watch they lose. Sure makes it tough to watch. lol
  18. Mine is a 1972 Sea king 14/36. It has a VIN somewhere on the back. I actually had the VIN and guys name it was last registered to. But after the mess I went back and forth with the ladies at the tax office with I may have tossed that paper Ill have to look. I have a little more faith it may get done now if I just contact the TPW directly.
  19. No I didn't call the TPW I printed the forms out off their website and tried to follow the instructions. When I saw that wasn't going to work I talked to my local tax office where boats motors and trailers are titled here as the TPW office is 50 miles away so we do ours here locally. Technically they are the ones who sort of are passing the buck. Now that I see what you did I may go at it again. Thanks for sharing.
  20. Not according to the PC police. Seems the past 50 years we nearly made bass extinct the way some act over people keeping their legal catch. Some even feel it's their right now days to put their selves in your business without being asked to tell you how you need to do your fishing.
  21. In Texas it can be a mess. I have a boat that the legal owner passed away his life long friend was given the boat (no title) since they fished out of it for 20 years the family said it was as good as his. Well after the boat had been used on a private lake for many years it was brought to the guys house as he had got a better boat for their private lake. He since sold me the boat and I have tried to reach the wife of the deceased who's name is on the title but she has long moved possibly to a nursing home or even passed away. So basically from everything I have found out it will never again be legal to tag without some sleight of hand deal. Even though everything is legit up to now. Im trying to get it registered again but all I get is the run around because I have no signed paperwork from a dead guy.
  22. I never said the "cast control" knob was part of any braking system. All I ever said concerning the "cast control" knob was the paragraph below. Never once did I mention part of any"braking system". So where again was Lew's website and literature"not entirely correct"? Everything I stated came directly from Lew's. I even said this is what Lew's calls them on their website under features so people could reference where I got the information.
  23. Since I am pretty much a Lew's user I will say this is what Lew's calls them on their website under features. So in essence using their descriptions the dial on the outside of a RH bait caster from Lew's is for the Magnetic Brake. The pins inside(internal) the cover on the left side of the same reel would be the Centrifugal Brake. The small knob on the right hand side of the same reel would be the spool tension adjustment knob also known as the Cast Control. I got the "Cast Control" by looking at the schematic of my reels. If you want to order a new knob for the spool tension adjustment the part is called Cast Control Cap. Not sure if that clarifies it any more or just mucks it up but I figured if these were the names of a major brand of reels they should be sort of universal.
  24. When I was learning these are the things I wish someone had explained me. 1. A Medium or Medium moderate rod helps tremendously. Crankbait rods are sweet for beginners. It is unreal how much of a cast is rod related. 2. A quality reel (generally in the $100 range) makes things easier. Its smoother and less prone to have other issues that may make learning more tedious/difficult. 3. Learn what each component of your reel does before you attempt to use the reel. Its a huge time saver if you know what to adjust to fix what is effecting your casting. Read your reels owners manual know how your reel works. 4. A 1/2 oz plug is the only lure you need for starters. Also avoid light weight lures (1/4oz or lighter) until you are no longer having bad issues with casting. 5. Use this line Berkley® Trilene® Big Game™ for starters its cheap and easy to cast with. I prefer braid if I had to pick a backlash out but the Big Game over all is probably better for learning. 6. The roll cast is probably the most forgiving style of cast. In other words you are less likely to muck it up vs other casting techniques. 7. I just realized the title of the thread said "I am asking you experts, baitcasting 101 help????" Please understand I am no expert I am offering tips from my experiences learning.
