Shimano DC Models
I have the Curado DC and it has been a great reel. I have been able to cast lures in conditions that would usually be quite difficult and the DC braking system works flawlessly. From a price point, I think this reel is pretty decent value when you compare it to other DC reels.

Ebay Listing.... How does this happen?
To tell the truth, I have never been burnt on ebay. I have had some concerns but nothing major.

Ebay Listing.... How does this happen?
I have posted links to things on eBay in the past and on occasion they have been removed. So here goes.... https://www.ebay.com/itm/284143018702

lens color
I have come to the conclusion on sunglass that you want to do two things...... increase contrast and cut down on glare. So blue mirror for bright open water and brown/copper for early morning or overcast days.

Lbs of drag?
I have tried using weights but I like to do it by hand. I just have a feel for where it should be depending on the line, rod and lure. If I had to guess, I am about 40% - 50% of the breaking strength. So 12lb line would be about 5 - 6lbs of drag.

Longest Casting 6 lb Non-Braid line?
6lb Seaguar Tatsu cast the best out of any spinning gear line I have tried but I actually tend to like Trilene XL 100% FC better. It tends to be a little softer and the knot strength is just as good. It doesn't hold up as well but since I use spinning gear less than casting, it's more cost effective.

Are big pros really using budget gear?
They may not be fishing the highest end gear (because of sponsors) but they are fishing in the highest end boats with the world's best electronics.

Jigs - Braid with Fluoro Leader - Advice
I use a leader that is about 6 inches shorter than the rod I am using. When it gets down to about 2 feet, I change it.

Best Daiwa Reel for Casting Distance?
When it come to distance in the Daiwa line up, I have the Steez SV TWS and it does cast pretty far but my Shimano Antares 70A cast the farthest out of any reel I have used. All of this depends on what rod and what lure you're using. Also, I have come to the conclusion that casting distance doesn't always equal out to making one reel better than another.

$150-$250 Reel for Heavy cover frog fishing
Another vote for the Shimano Bantam. Solid, smooth, and easy to cast.

Daiwa Steez Limited and New Alphas
I usually watch his videos and somehow missed this one. Thanks for pointing me in that direction. After watching it though, it's quite eyeopening. The Limited really looks like the same reel. It's a shame Daiwa would do this, especially on a reel that appears to be geared towards fans of the Steez (kind of like me). In a way, having worked in printing and marketing for many years, it reminds me that you can charge more for anything that is chrome plated.

Good video and info. They look awesome...

Mono Users: Green, Camo, or Clear?
I would say clear but would prefer FC for that type of water.

your first baitcasting reel
My first was a BPS Rick Clunn reel from about 15-20 years ago. Didn't really care for it.

12 or 14 lb Sunline FC Sniper for Tube Jigs?
I through tubes on 12lb but in the past most of guys I use to fish with, fished for small mouth. To them tubes were used on spinning gear with 6 or 8lb FC.

A popular bass rod power/type that you personally don't find a use for?
In spinning rods I use a ML for inline spinner baits and live bait for crappie and for a Med. I use it for 4in Senkos, Ned Rig, 1/8oz jig head with a trick worm/finesse soft plastic and tubes.

New crankbait reel
For big cranks and small swimbaits I use a Shimano Calcutta 251, for square bills and medium divers I have a Antares 12, deep divers I use a Abu Garcia Winch, and for lipless cranks a Quantum Vapor.

"Ultralight" Casting Reel?
Agreed. This is what has stopped me from getting a BFS set up. It seems we (anglers) want to increase the challenge of bringing in a fish to make the reward just that much better. I often thought this is what fly fisherman go through. I could catch a dozen smallmouth in creek but a fly fisherman will spend all day catching one or two. Sometimes, it's in the art of the catch rather than the quantity.

Should I be worried about this?
You will probably put a small ding in it at some point. I say fish it and enjoy.

Blade Bait Rod?
Lately I have been using either a 7' M or MH fast. I have tried moderate and x fast rods and fast seems to be the sweet spot for me.

Oldest Mono You Have Used?
I have a bulk spool of Yozuri Hybrid that is about 12 years old. I use it for backing but it still seems like it's good stuff.

Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
Finally got my Mojo Yak rod. It has a much softer tip than most rods and I like the feel of the handle. I had fished one in the past (barrowed) thought it was weird but for a kayak it will be just right, I hope.

Wobbly line guide on new Lews baitcaster combo?
I have had those tags get me twice. Once at BPS in Louisville KY> they cracked a G. Loomis IMX 844C removing the tag. I then had issues having them exchange it, even though I just bought it and it was their fault. The manager said that they can't be responsible for accidents after it's paid for. They did eventually give in but what a pain that I will never forget. Second was at DSG> I bought a Shimano Curado that had a tag on the handle that was looped through the frame. Long story, they broke the AR clutch trying to take it off. They were nice about it and had a new shipped to my house.
