  1. For frogs like the Zoom Horny Toad I have been using the Hayabusa Hyper Tornado in a 5/0. Great hook but my only complaint is that the screw is not closed really well. You need to pinch it shut and make sure you screw the keeper in as far as you can.
  2. I use these for big worms. I have not tried them for anything else. They work pretty well. Picasso Shake-E-Football. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Picasso_Shake-E-Football_Shakey_Heads/descpage-PSF.html There is also one call the Spot Sticker. One version has an EWG hook. These work well on fat baits but I have not used one in quite a while.
  3. A little different than the Beatle Spin but Ive caught several fish on the Flasback Mini. Everything from crappie to bass to catfish have hit this thing.
  4. I have a Jackall Revoltage II 6'9'' Light for BFS soft plastic. It's a really nice made rod but it seems this line has become hard to find. In that line up they have a 6'6'' M+ and if it's like mine, it will have a multi taper blank. It has a fast tip with a softer middle. Regular retail, they run $350 but I purchased mine when The Hook Up Tackle was running a 20% off sale. So for $280, it has a JDM feel but it's not too flashy. It is a split grip though.
  5. Got ya. I was reading the news today and I never thought it would happen again in the same spot but..... https://www.wthr.com/article/news/local/divers-search-for-reported-drowning-victim-in-eagle-creek-reservoir-pike-wayne-indianapolis/531-59e59875-94ef-4e08-9386-371e72b7c1c1
  6. I was there when this happened. My fishing buddy and I saw it from a distance. https://www.wrtv.com/news/local-news/man-critical-after-being-pulled-from-the-eagle-creek-reservoir Guy jumped in to the water to retrieve a lure and the current pulled him. He was in about 5-6 feet of water and got pulled in to a deep ledge and never resurfaced. Don't kid yourself. Sometimes it ain't worth it.
  7. You can fish it sort of like a jerkbait. I do a light jerk and pause and they usually hit on the pause. If fish are fired up, I fish it with a quick poping action. You can also sort of fish this like a glide bait with the walk the dog action you mentioned. My last trip out, I caught eight on it. I totally destroyed the rear hook. My favorite color has been HT Setsuki Chiayu but so far all of the colors I have tried catch fish.
  8. Coping and pasting my old info from above...... Sort of. I know someone in Japan that contacted the website/store I bought it from. They sent me the label. I had to go to Megabass Japan's website, use Google translate, and fill out the warranty claim. I shipped the rod to my contact with the warranty card that comes with the rod, the warranty claim from the website and the receipt and he took it from there. I should have it back next week. I will then pay for shipping to the US, about $60. Understand this is not the norm and I got very lucky. Megabass JP's website below but I couldn't locate the page I was sent. Also, I had help filling it out. If you ship to Japan from the US, you might as well buy a new rod. I can't remember what it was exactly but I think FedEx wanted around $200+. Again, I was lucky with this and my contact in Japan was able to get me a shipping label. Otherwise, I would have purchased a new rod instead. Another thing on this, Megabass was very interested in getting the broken rod as it was. I could have cut the rod up in pieces and save them on the shipping but they wanted it in the condition it was in when it broke. https://www.megabass.co.jp
  9. This is how feel about them as well. They start out really sharp and then go dull quickly. Also and might just be me, on small fish they stick pretty well but on a big fish they gash big holes that make them easy to pop off. I recall hooking a few fish and they were just being held by the pressure of the hook on the lip. Weird. I still have a few and use them from time to time but I'll stick with Ryugi, Owner and Gamakatsu as my main hook companies.
  10. Black and blue and PB&J are two of my most productive colors. If you are not having success with these two colors, its probably not the jig but the trailer.
  11. I mainly throw Ned Rids on a NRX+ spinning rod but I have used a few casting rods for it that work pretty well. I like the 6'9'' L Jackall Revoltage II for a 1/16oz and 1/8oz EWG style jigs. For lighter stuff with an open hook, I have used Dobyns Sierra Ultra Finesse 700C and the Kistler Hunt BFS 6'9''. The Jackall is great for any BFS soft plastic and light jigs. It has what I want for anything that isn't a BFS hard bait. It has a fast tip with a little bit of power and softer middle. So good hook setting power for a light rod but a soft middle for light line. The Dobyns and Kistler rods are both pretty light. I do more of a "Let the fish hook itself" hook set. Once on, they do the job but I prefer the NRX+ spinning rod to these two rods. It's super sensitive and hook sets are perfect. It does load a little different and weird when casting. Another spinning rod that is great for Ned Rigs is the Megabass P5 Whippet. This rod is a do all light rod. It's doesn't have as much power as the NRX+ which is still pretty light but it can cast a mile.
  12. They share the same frame but have different spools, bearings, and braking systems. I have two of the BFS version and one of the Shallow Edition. I use the Shallow Edition for crankbaits and jerkbaits. Amazing reel. Not really for BFS. The two BFS versions..... One is for trout and pan fish. I have cast baits down to 1/32oz on this one. The other is used for BFS crankbaits and small jerkbaits.
  13. 10lb or 12lb. Based on the fish I catch, either one will work and I don't see any advantage to going heavier.
  14. I have a love hate relationship with hollow body frogs. I have read and keep hearing that hook ups are often hit and miss. But man, I hate to loose a big fish (or any fish for that matter). They are becoming scarce and fishing a frog can be frustrating. I would add to this topic that I hate getting hung up with bottom contact baits. I don't get hung up as much as I use to but it seems to me that the art of not getting stuck in a rock or a downed tree has eluded me.
  15. From zero to immortality in 5min 45sec.... Just amazing.
  16. Goat Toad. I couldn't remember the name but that's the one I was referring to. Fun bait. Another... the Scooper Frog. Doesn't float but fish crush it on the fall.
  17. Japan Lure Shop. It might be a few days before I can try it out but I will post my initial thoughts when I can.
  18. I was going to suggest the Pad Crush Jr but I have had better luck with the floating frog from Zman. I use either a 4/0 or 5/0 EWG and the thing still floats. I just Texas rig it and hook ups are great. Another option but it doesn't float as well is the Zoom Horny Toad.
  19. One of the cheapest trailers I have been using is a Yamamoto Double Tail Grub. They come 20 to a pack for about $7-$8 a pack.
  20. I'm about to find out which direction Sunline is going. Just got it today, Overtex. Its supposed to be the best line they have ever made. We will see.
  21. FishTank replied to F14A-B's topic in Everything Else
Its just to the right of Phil Collins 😀
  22. I had issues with it about 15-20 years ago. I bought a several spools when Gander Mountain went out of business. I thought I was getting a good deal but it had all the issues mentioned above. I haven't tried it in the past few years but since my purchase at Gander Mountain I have bought it a few times with no problems. I have since moved on to other lines.
  23. FishTank posted a topic in Everything Else
    This absolutely terrifies me....
  24. It has a slightly heavier wire. The hybrid has a little more flex to it but not much. I haven't bent either one of them out.
  25. They are slightly similar. The Infini is a fuzz shorter in length but wider. The point on the Infini has a little different angle. Both are coated and sharp. I like the G Finesse hybrid for regular and thinner worms and the Infini for Senkos and for creature baits like the Dolive Beaver. Big difference is the cost $5 for 4 or $2.50 from Japan for 6.
