What's your favorite color of Zoom "trick worm" ?
I don't throw it as often as I should but pink has always been the best producer for me. Not sure why. I can't catch squat on a pink senko.

Bass rod vs musky rod
I had a 8' St. Croix Mojo Musky rod with around the same specs. I wanted to use it for A-rigs and swimbaits. It looked good on paper but in practice it was not the best idea. If I had a good size fish hit it, say 3lb+, it wasn't bad but when a smaller fish would bite, which would be most of the ones I catch, I had a hard time getting a good hook set because of how stout the rod was. A fish really had to hit hard. The way it loaded was just different from a bass rod. Also, it was fatiguing to fish this thing. I ended up selling it. The short answer for me is yes, you could use it but I would try it out with the idea you may need something else.

Daiwa SS Air
Good info. What rod do you have it in? What line? I will probably go braid to leader.

Daiwa SS Air
Any thoughts on this reel? Do you own one? How does it compare to Shimano Aldebaren BFS? I found a good deal on a new one and I am thinking of getting this and going a different route with Daiwa Silver Wolf.

Ok, between these 2
The Mojo would be my choice. I had a Premier and sold it. Good rod but not for me.

What exactly is going on with St. Croix?
Did I miss something or did St.Croix release a new line of Avid rods? $240 and full cork grips. https://www.fishusa.com/St.-Croix-Avid-Series-Casting-Rod/?sku=216810&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiA7t6sBhAiEiwAsaieYhwV4lhmLNkWHnnNTanA8sp9ifv7dC5ASINnH6vPtkmI3TO9VL5hnxoCkbIQAvD_BwE

I heard it gives the fish the munchies.

Lures You Used Less this Year
Got another one.... the Cover Scat. I don't know why I didn't fish it much last year. It was on fire in 2022.

I have never...
Drank beer/alcohol while fishing. I know open container laws exist but I see guys drinking all the time.

What exactly is going on with St. Croix?
Funny you should say that. I worked at a Sears from 1987-89. I started there when I was 15. I worked in the hardware department and paint. We would warranty the ratchets by replacing the ratchet hardware in store with a special press. We had three versions, best, better, and cheap. The ratchet mechanisms were all the same though. They rolled out of a factory in China. They were junk unfortunately. It was one of a few Sear's secrets back in the day that were meant to be kept quiet. Also, you always knew when one had been used with a breaker bar when a guy would bring in a 13mm and a 1/2in socket that was broken. We always kept the shelf empty of those two sizes so we could sell a few to people that needed them.

Metanium DC’s Brakes Broken?
Something sounds fishy. No pun intended. I would ask for some pictures and some more detailed info. I hope your guy didn't use a sonic cleaner or a solvent bath on your reel.

Metanium DC’s Brakes Broken?
Was the brake system working when you shipped it our?

Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
This almost all of it for this year. I have few things I have been waiting on and a box of boring terminal tackle (hooks, weights, etc.). This is generally what I go through in about 3 months of fishing. Not pictured are a few packs of Zoom Lizards. I had a tuff year of fishing a spinnerbait so I wanted try some new ones and refresh a few that got beat up. The D-zone is one I have been anxious to try. I have a few of the Crush City baits. I haven't caught anything on them yet but they look well made. Maybe it's the smell. Also, there is jig in there from Deps called the Flatback. It's a 1oz punching jig that you can swim. Sounds weird but it works.

Lures You Used Less this Year
There are not many baits I can go out on any lake and catch fish with but this guy has been my go to. I have caught everything on it from largemouth bass, smallmouth, spots, crappie, walleye, catfish, drum, small striper, and white bass. If you want to break out of a slump, this is a good place to start. I have found 10lb fluorocarbon to be the magic line with it as well.

Storing soft plastics and hard lures in the same plano tray
I had a two sided box at one time for pond hopping. I would put softplastic on one side and lures and hooks on the other. It seemed to work but the softplastic started to deform and I went back to keeping them in their original bags.

Last Bass of 2023
December 27th. I was testing out a new rod that is made for squarebills, topwater, and jerkbaits. I wanted to see if a senko would work since a member here had asked about it in another thread. I would say the test was somewhat successful.

Lures You Used Less this Year
I thought of another one.... a lipless. I tried it a few times but the lake I go to the most is filled with wood and trees. If you fish the bank, getting hung up is inevitable.

Loop Knots for Soft Jerkbait - Yea or Nay?
I haven't used a loop knot since I was a kid and then it was only for live bait, fishing for bluegills.

Tackle buying for 2024
I know. The wiring harness and mounting plate costs as much as your Minn Kota. I am looking at the Motor Guide XI3 with gps. I just googled it and went up $200. It's now $1349.

Tackle buying for 2024
I had another thought.... I want to add a trolling motor to my kayak. The last time I looked at this, it was about $2000. It just seems crazy but I am getting to the point where it's getting hard to battle the wind. Plus it would give me the ability to cover more water. It might end up being a project for next year.

Tackle buying for 2024
Well the last year and half I got into BFS and it changed how I fish for bass. It also has sparked my curiosity for trout. I fished for them in the past on spinning gear with some success. In 2024 I want to get a rod specific for trout and use one of my BFS reels on it. Then get some more trout specific baits to go with it. Other than that, I would like the time to fish and use what I have.

Yozuri jerkbait 110
Go to the 1:22 mark. This is what you should expect. With the head down, it should look like a defensive posture and a bass will usually strike when the head starts to turn on a pause.

Lions / Cowboys
The Lions got robbed. The Colts vs the Browns game will be the one that stays with me. That was horrible. Usually I would give the refs one bad call at the end of a game but three in a row, something's up.

Yozuri jerkbait 110
There is really only one bait that will suspend straight pretty much all the time and that is the Lucky Craft Pointer. Even Megabass's Vision One Ten will point nose down depending on water temp. If you want to change it, you can tweak it slightly by putting a smaller/lighter hook on the front. As far as the Yozuri jerkbait goes, it's a great bait as is. It is actually designed to fish that way. This is from Yozuri's site..... The 3DB Jerkbait 110 is a suspending lure with an irresistible minnow shape. It is designed with “Flat Sides” which make it perfect for stop & go retrieves, or a pause/jerk/pause technique. The new Weight Transfer System makes for unbelievably long casts and the “Head Down” position during pauses in the retrieve are features developed by Yo-Zuri’s product development teams working closely with their pro-staff bass anglers. All baits in this series feature Yo-Zuri’s exclusive “Wave Motion Technology” that sends vibrations throughout the water column.
