we had a low of 57 last night and i could really feel it while cruising across the lake in the little johnny this morning. but i aint gonna complain about it one bit! blue bird skies and a pesky NE breeze, changing to SE, never seemed to bother the fish, just the fisherman. caught close to 25, mixed bag of spots and largemouth. life is good.

on my home lake there are alot of boat ramps. 99% of them belong to individual property owners and i NEVER pass them by without making several casts.

Georgia (3-1) knocks out Michigan (2-2) this afternoon. Kenty throws a complete game. not eligible to pitch again in series. Hawaii (2-0) vs NY (2-0) tonight. loser to face Georgia tomorrow.

good games yesterday with S Korea rallying to win in extra innings vs Puerto Rico in the international bracket. Mexico, Texas, and NY all won their games too.

small lake fishing in the little johnny this morning. warm and muggy early with a nice SW breeze building as the morning progressed. numbers were down slightly but the quality bite was good. i caught a solid bag of largemouths to go along with this 5.12 kicker. life is good!

his first bass on an artificial lure, a 1/8 oz yellow Road Runner w/gp Yum mini grub. he’s been using minnows and worms all summer but he wanted to throw something different yesterday. i dont know who was more excited, him or me! yes, they do go back to school too early ?

yes, i keep a jon boat at a small lake near the house. i have been fishing that lake for over 30 years now and it is my happy place.

summer break is over for this guy. but we do have the memories, and there are lots more summertimes to go.....

ok guys, i caught what i thought was an 11 lb “striper” a few weeks ago while bass fishing. but is it a striper? or is it a hybrid? the broken lines say hybrid, but it’s body type says striper. i have caught both before but this one has me puzzled. help a brother out. i threw it back anyways.

i make every effort to be on the water at first light. now, that doesn’t always translate to better fishing, but it’s more comfortable for the fisherman. in fact, i’ve done pretty darn good in the middle of the day during the summer. like catt, i prefer the deeper structure (15’+ for me), but a thermocline could dictate otherwise, depending on where you fish. right now (and this is ALWAYS subject to change) i’m finding most of my fish in the 10-15’ zone, along with schools of bait fish, and some surface schooling activity. fwiw surface water temps are in the lower to mid 80’s and we’ve had mucho rainfall lately.

it was nice and cool before the sun came up, but just like the bite, it got quite hot in a big hurry. caught close to 30 (mostly those “hammer handle” spots) but my big fish was this 20”+ largemouth. threw them a curve ball with this yellow bullet/june bug lizard deal too. crazy man. *pics loaded out of sequence
