  1. i’ll throw at and around every boat ramp i come across (public or private) any time of the day, night, or season for alot of the reasons already listed above. hard bottoms, wash outs, abrupt drops (off the ends and sides), rip rap and gravel ramp edges, all hold forage, as well as, ambush points. in late winter and early spring, sunny bank ramps retain heat and tend to hold big bass.
  2. thanks for the 411 ?
  3. how did he do today?
  4. where did they finish today?
  5. hit the water at first light in the little johnny this morning and didn’t get bit til around 7:30.....but what a bite it was! i hooked this 11 lb striper, on a 5” Zoom lizard, while fishing a deep brush pile. i thought it was a big cat at first but when i finally saw the tail, i knew it wasn’t a cat. she fought for a couple minutes, zipping drag repeatedly and then it was over. my Revo SX, spooled with 12 lb Seaguar InvizX, on a 7’ MH Berkley Shock met the task head on! i also boated this healthy 19”+ largemouth later. git r done.
  6. so avoidable, and being unprepared is absolutely no excuse for the captain of that vessel. many lost their lives needlessly. it is tragic for sure.
  7. you might be able to lay one on top of a hook of known size to make a comparison....now that you already have them.
  8. took the little johnny out after supper this evening and hooked up with this 19” spot. she hit a Zoom lizard in 18 fow.
  9. i am hard headed like this. i still throw a t rig most of the time although i have branched out (LOL) to different colors these days. it comes down to being confident with familiarity i guess. my old high school football coach ran the triple option and we only had a handful of plays, but we could run them in our sleep. i’ve always held on to that mindset i guess. yes, we had face masks ?
  10. hate to hear about that scaleface. seems like we have a back pain thread two or three times a year. mine was so bad this winter that i went and had an MRI and then three months of physical therapy....and it worked. i maintain a core strength routine but sometimes i still feel it. i hope you are able to work through this. get well soon man.
  11. exactly what i was thinking
  12. texas rigged plastics
  13. very interesting, would love to see a picture of that! btw, i caught this 20” beast last summer at a small lake connected to Lake Norman by a pair of elevation spillway culverts only. it contains both largemouth and spotted bass. i first thought it was a spot but it had no tooth patch on the tongue. could this be a spot/largemouth hybrid?
  14. wide open throttle
  15. here is an older pic that i have of an Alabama spot that displays most of the identifying characteristics that WRB spoke of, sans the tooth patch on the tongue. these fish have all but replaced the largemouth bass here on Lake Norman in NC and i have caught hundreds of them this past decade.
  16. the center fish....maybe???????..... and thats a BIG reach because it’s hard to tell with the jaw jacked like it is and no clear view of the dorsal fins. notice a rough patch on the tongue?
  17. never seen an Osprey eat a dead fish. a struggling or dying fish, yes, but not a dead one.
  18. looks an awful lot like my dads
  19. i have a tiny torpedo in that frog pattern myself ?
