i do alot of fishing from a small jon boat at times. my texas rig set up is a 7' MH rod, 12 lb fluoro, and a 3.0 off set shank worm hook. no EWG worm hooks, even with lizards. hope this helps. good luck.

i had just bought my current bass boat. me and my cousin were "breaking it in" one afternoon. i idled into a cove and killed the switch, trolling motor down and we got to fishing. after about 45 minutes or so, we decided to move. i hit the switch.....nothing. my cousin busted out laughing. nothing again, more laughter. i was sick, i checked all my connections and was just about to switch batteries when i saw it. i had failed to pull the throttle all the way back into neutral before killing the big motor. "click" and she fired right up. lots more laughter. i hate his guts ; - )

like the guys said, it can be hit or miss, but it is how i caught my pb in the fall of '98. a very small pod of shad had surfaced near a road bed i was fishing, so i threw in the token offering. this time it was a 6" renegade worm in fall pumpkin and my line stopped sinking before it hit the bottom, then it began to move off! an 8.6 wont raise many eyebrows in certain parts on the country, but around here, it's a trophy.

nothing wrong with shutting it down at 10, that is what i do alotta the time. get out there before sun up or try late evening, or better yet, go at night. nc brother in the house.

i've been to High Rock and killed them and been there and it stunk. i can tell you this too, that place gets beat to death and those fish have seen every lure in your box. hopefully your partner knows the lake and where to find them. lake is full and the water is always dirty. git r done.

pick it apart with my texas rig, but i am admittedly hard headed, and this probably hinders me at times. i will throw a rat-L-trap in the fall (or early spring) along with some flukes or the occasional spinner bait. my old football coach ran the wishbone and we only had about 10 plays. but we could run them in our sleep. thats the way i feel about my texas rigs.
