  1. Sweet. Do you think the MF could handle some 3/8 jigs or texas rigged craws/worms if need be?
  2. Sounds like exactly what I am looking for to complement my 6'9'' TCS spinnerbait rod. Might save me from buying a mid-deep cranking rod as well. What line do you prefer to run with the rod?
  3. How is the balance of the rod? I'd expect a 7'4'' $110 rod to be tip heavy, but for tip down presentations it shouldn't matter a whole lot. What reel do you pair it with?
  4. Just Ordered a new SLX 150HG to put on a buzzbait/chatterbait/swim jig/whopper plopper rod, maybe lipless cranks too. I'm looking to get a St. Croix rod to put it on, and I have narrowed my options down to -Mojo Spinnerbait 7MHMF -Bass X 74MHMF I handled the Mojo model in bass pro and was very impressed, but it wouldn't be a good plopper 110 rod, as the max rating is on 3/4 ounce. I've heard some good things about that bass X model but was wondering if anyone here had any thoughts. I'v been using an older bionic blade for these techniques but after getting some nicer equipment recently I really don't care for the balance or guides on that rod.
  5. Should serve you well. I use my 703 fury for smaller reaction baits and it is great for that. The sierra is more sensitive but it doesn't matter for cranking.
  6. I agree with OP. I have had a fury for a few months and honestly haven't been super impressed. Picked up a sierra from TW and the build quality and sensitivity of the sierra is much, much better. I'll likely be picking up another, the 734C.
  7. Anyone else jumping on these killer deals on Dobyns Sierras on TW right now? I picked up the 692sf and am very impressed so far.
  8. Update: ended up going with the sierra 734. At the TW price of $108 they are going at now its too good of a deal to pass up.
  9. Will Probably go with that then. Senko deserves its own rod, IMO. Should pair well with my Tat SV.
  10. Would the xf be your choice for senkos?
  11. If was actually the Avid X 6'8'' M-XF, I misspoke when I said the avid.
  12. At my local bass pro the most expensive rod is the avid X.
  13. after playing around with some Avid X models in Bass Pro yesterday, the 68 medium avid felt a lot better to me. Would this rod work well for senkos?
  14. Personally I do not find the fuego to be anything amazing. My *** and Curado blow it out of the water in smoothness.
  15. Anyone have any thoughts on the avid x 7 ft medium fast? Will be an all purpose rod for senkos, lipless cranks, poppers, lighter texas rigs, etc. Will be pairing it with a Tatula SV 7.3. Anyone have issues with the micro guides breaking?
  16. I could throw chatterbaits and smaller topwater poppers easily, but for me my spinnerbait rod is dedicated to that one purpose.
  17. They are coming out with a new powell MAX for 2019, though I don't know when it will actually be released. Might want to check that out.
  18. I think you should start with solid mid range gear for the techniques that you use the most. I am still expanding my arsenal and my first two specialty rods were frog and spinner bait, because I always have those baits tied on. IMO for reels, think Curado K or Tat SV. For rods, SC Mojo, Okuma TCS, Dobyns Fury/sierra, etc. There is no need to buy half a dozen combos at once only to realize you don't need them or fish the techniques they are designed for. You can often find deals on the items you want for substantially less than retail price.
  19. Where did you find the deal?
  20. I think I will go Chronarch. What do you think is better about the champion specifically over the sierra?
  21. I have the 691MH and I just picked up the 701H. The 691 has been my spinnerbait rod this season and I have absolutely loved it-light balanced, awesome taper for my style of spinnerbait fishing. I haven't used the 701H much but I intend to use it for texas rigs and paddle tails. Both are paired with Curado K's, which match very well with the TCS rods in terms of quality IMO.
  22. Looking to invest in a higher end combo all purpose combo, mainly for jigs and texas rigs. Ideally I would like the rod to handle senkos to 3/8 jigs with trailers, and maybe some smaller swimbaits. For the rods, I am considering -Zodias 72mh -Expride 72mh -Sierra 734 -Champion 734 For the reel, I am considering curado, metanium, or chronarch. I already have two K's but would like to try something different, especially because the K doesn't handle light weights all that well. I had a fury 734 which I sold, but it was the best weightless plastic rod of all medium heavy sticks I have ever used and I regret it. Because I want the combo to handle senkos, I am leaning toward one of the dobyns, but I'm not sure if the champion is worth the extra coin. For the reel, I am leading towards the chronarch because of the brass gears and MGL spool. Anyone have any thoughts? Would the shimano 72mh handle a senko well?
  23. I have two TCS and really like them but don't own any more expensive rods.
