I went and hit Cash Lake in my yak today. Spend most of it up in the pad fields. I got this guy right off the bat, he hit at the end of my cast and I thought I had a monster bass on the line. I did end up with some bass, with maybe 4 around this size. The pick and one of the bass came off a paddletail run through the pads, one on a neko rigged trick worm, one on a wacky jig trick worm, and the last one on a spinnerbait I was aimless casting around the middle of the lake. Could not find a patten at all nor could I find any bass beds. Saw a ton of panfish on beds though.

I back mine with inexpensive 30lb braid. I do really like Defier Armilo but I wish they 1) sold it in bulk spools, and 2) sold it in smaller diameters. Their 11lb is as thick as 8lb XL, which is "ok", but I would love it if they offered it in something closer to 4lb XL.

Junger was not kidding about the wind, it was nuts. I have also never fished around so many shad before, there was a 1' band of them running along the wall we were fishing off of, so thick I bet I could have grabbed one with my hand. I don't know what's going on with this spring. I fished a small lake today for the first time in weeks, I went expecting a lot of vegetation but there was almost nothing emerging yet. I have never seen it take this long for stuff to start growing in. I managed two turbo-dinks on a trickworm and had a huge blow up on the same which resulted in the bass popping my hook out and me setting it into a floating log. I fought that log for like 45 shameful seconds before I realized it wasn't a monster bass.

I just gave it a serious try this past week and it is working very well for me so far. It is surprisingly snagless and it's working out to be a great "subtle" presentation that I can fish quickly and cover water with. I fish it in the same places I fish a Ned, but where surface debris or high winds make me want a lure that will hug the bottom.

Yea, I have been doing this for a while and have not noticed much hit:landing difference. I go to singles on all my hard baits that are like 2" and smaller as they get swallowed too often for my liking.

I use these guys for flukes of all sorts. It puts the weight further back into the fluke and makes them fall a little flatter and they seem to rise up less when worked. I love these hooks for a lot of things, but I prefer a non-twistlock hook for flukes most of the time. The Owner twist locks do let me do a neat trick when the bass are just smacking at my lures. I take the hook point and just skin hook the point on the side of the plastic where any pressure will pop it free. The hooks are so light that being a little offset does not seem to change the action most plastics either.

Man, that is a great deal on a BG. My only beef with the reel is the insanely high line capacity, but a roll of plumber's tape took care of that.

I bought one of these after reading your posts about it over the years, it is an outstanding popper/walking rod, great for jerks, for flukes, or really anything that wants a sharp, short twitch. If it were just a tiny bit lighter it would be my ideal tube rod too. If I had a boat I would buy three of them, might even buy a second for my kayak if I do well enough with topwaters this year.

Hah, I was just going to post about the Stretch 40. I also picked some up on closeout, but in chart/chart glitter. I have been fishing them like a fat senko, t-rigged with a drag and drop or wacky rigged. I will have to try burning one across the top. You are right about how fragile they are, I am lucky to get one fish t-rigged and then maybe one or two more wacky.

These guys are the best, I have slowly gotten covers from them for all my rods and reels. They are slightly more fussy to put on then the TW covers, but they fit a lot more snugly.

I was out messing around with my new jig rod and was pitching to a pile of brush located in a 3' hole in a 1'-6" deep side channel. Just messing around working the jig through the branches and seeing how the rod felt when I suddenly felt a hit. It's a new rod a a pretty sensitive one, so I thought I had just snagged a springy branch. But on the next pitch I was ready and got this little guy. I was pleased to see him hit a jig that large, especially after maybe 10-12 pitches to the same very small brush pile. I guess he got sick of me hitting him on the head. I got a a nicer one on a chatterbait and it was the "perfect" bite. I was slow rolling it on the bottom when suddenly the blade stopped moving and I set the hook. The hook got him right on the roof of his mouth, no chance of him getting off.

I had a pompadour for about 6-8 months back in my 20's. One of my roommates was a stylist and she insisted. It was not an amazing look and the hairgel costs about killed me.

I have been shaving my head for about.....15-18 years now? I can't stand it when it gets more then about an 1/8" of fuzz on top. I have gotten to the point where hats feel weird unless my head is freshly shaved.

I have been fishing a DS a ton from the bank and use a super short leader at times, I'm talking like maybe 2-3" longer then the worm. I fish it more like a t-rig that will not bury in the muck and retrieve it with the reel, stopping to shake it every time it bumps into something.

That is exactly the three I have, the T1000 color being the "shiny". I have never noticed a difference in hit rates of one color over the other though.

Ha, I actually have a pair of 130's and even have a combo for throwing them on, just waiting for trolling season to start. I don't use them much for freshwater fishing though.

I have only been at it for like 4-5 years now and "seriously" after bass for the last 2-3 years, so I know exactly what you mean about addictive. If you are in Potomac then you have easy access to one of my favorite spots, the C&O canal between Swains and Seneca Creek. When the water is right it's like a shooting gallery for bass, so much cover to cast too that it takes me 3-4 hours to fish a mile of bank.

I like the 90's enough that I have not sprung for any of the 110's yet. They do take a foot or three to start running, but as long as I can keep my line off the water I have never had a real issue with them.

Dude, that is nuts. I wish I was that organized. I just track my reels, mainly to remember what line is on what and what upgrades/aftermarket stuff each one has.

Huh, I had no idea. I will have to give it a go in April. I know you can rent boats at a few spots down there, if I did that I could drive in and bring more then my travel rod with me.

How is the fishing in there? I see guys bait fishing for carp and catfish sometimes but have never noticed anyone going for bass. I have always wanted to jump on the metro with a travel rod and try fishing around there and the monuments but have never gotten around to doing it. I have a friend who is a member of some canoe club in GTown where I could launch my yak, but same deal, never motivated to do it.

If BP really copied the Hudd design that closely I could see it ending poorly for them. That is a lot more specific then "it looks like a trout and has a fat tail".

Are farmed geese any better? They were such a common food item back in the day, I have always wanted to try one.
