  1. Yup, can still get the combo from American legacy for $139.99.
  2. Probably, not sure. I did have an Academy coupon code earlier this year. I complained because i had just barely placed a large order and the very next day they were on sale for like 30% off or something like that so they gave me a coupon code to make up for it. Come to think of it that was last fall and i just used it this February...sometimes it pays to be the squeaky wheel ?.
  3. Well, I just ordered the refurb Dobyn's Fury 735C for $85 shipped! I like my 734C so I'm sure I'll like this new one just as much. Thanks to all who commented on this post, appreciate it!
  4. I too couldn't resist the lure of a Shimano SLX. I got just the reel and haven't fished it yet but looking at it I'm pretty impressed with how solid it feels (doesn't feel like a cheap plastic reel). I had an Amazon.com coupon for $60 because of a screw up of theirs on a previous order so i ended up paying like $40 for my SLX .
  5. I must say they have some of the best finishes of any lure I've seen...Megabass style/quality finish with a Strike King price, you can't go wrong :D.
  6. I own some but haven't fished them yet. I might coat mine with "Hard As Nails" clear coat before I fish them just to make sure...that stuff is bulletproof!
  7. I also found an Okuma Scott Martin Signature TCS rod, 7'3" Heavy/Fast for $93 on eBay...not sure how good these are but the specs are similar to the other frog rods I'm considering and so is the price...any word on these?
  8. I can get a refurbished (or accordinging to Dobyn's staff I spoke to nearly new) Fury 735C for $85 shipped.
  9. Okay, so my current froggin' rod is an iRod Fiber Fred's Magic Stick 7'5" Heavy/Fast. It works great but it's also my heavy top water rod and my small swimbait rod as well. I'd like to get another rod that I could use for froggin' and maybe heavy jigs etc. I'm thinking either a Dobyn's Fury 735C (I can get one of their like-new refurbs for $85 shipped) 7'3" Mag Heavy/Fast, a Shimano Exage 7'2" Heavy/Fast or a St. Croix Bass-X Heavy/Fast 7'4". I'd like to keep the price at or under $100 (I like the Dobyn's and Shimano as I know I'd be getting a better rod than the money I'm paying for them)...which would you choose and why?
  10. We've all been waiting for about 4 months now...I'm beginning to give up hope that they will have decent coupon codes this year .
  11. Do any of you use a mono/copoly leader to braid for frog fishing? If so, what pound test? So far I've always tied straight braid but just wondered if there are other ways.
  12. Academy has 25% off 6th Sense lures and they have a much better selection of colors than Overton's...just an FYI.
  13. I Decided to get a couple Jackhammers to see what all the hype is about. I know that DSG will pricematch certain competitors so I searched and found the Jackhammer's on sale at Scheels for $12.79 so I brought the ad to my local DSG and the lady said they weren't the same thing because they sell theirs for $19.99 and Scheels regular price was $15.99. I assured her they were and pointed out everything was exactly the same (I felt like saying just because you overprice stuff doesn't mean everybody does but I held my tongue) and she didn't put up much of a fight and agreed to price match on the 1/2oz. Jackhammers. I also had a $10 off coupon so I ended up getting 2 for $16+ (figures out to be $8+ each). This is the only way I'd buy them...can't see myself paying regular price of $16 - $20 for a chatterbait. I got the BHite Delight color and the Spot Remover color. Haven't been fishing yet here in the North but soon and I'll update my findings if they hype is warranted :).
  14. I was able to get my local DSG to price match Scheels at $12.79 for the Jackhammers plus I had a $10 coupon code so for two 1/2oz. Jackhammers I paid a total of $16 and change which means they were roughly $8+ each...that's the only way I'd buy them...we'll see if they live up to the hype!
  15. They tag you $15 for shipping. Still a pretty good deal though.
  16. I have a bunch of different kinds (Spro, Jackall, R2S, Terminator) I really like the Terminator Walking Frog...it is so easy to walk and if I can make it walk ANYBODY can !!!
  17. I believe this replaces the Casitas.
  18. I'm no expert but I believe most people would upgrade/add bearings and a carbon washer for the drag...maybe custom handle grips. That's the only things i know of but like i said, I'm no expert by any stretch. I'm sure other more knowledgeable people will chime in.
  19. Has anyone heard about these (other than from REEL TEST on Youtube)? They are a Shimano SLX only instead of the centrifugal pin style braking system they have a dial adjust on the side with the SVS Infinity brakes. I searched and you can find them on eBay for $120 shipped from Osaka, Japan. I mean for $20 more than the original SLX do you think the SVS braking system is that much of an upgrade over the centrifugal style?
  20. It used to be a Mini Slammer which I paid something like $35 for but I have since sold it. My 2nd most expensive lure is a Deps Buzzjet for $25. I haven't caught a fish on either and now the Slammer is gone but I'll still throw the Buzzjet and try my luck but I won't throw it in a lake/pond/river where there are pike and other toothy critters.
  21. Does that transfer ownership if someone buys it from a private sale though?
  22. Following this because I just ordered a Shimano Clarus from Sierra Trading Post for $37 (plus shipping). I ordered the 7ft. MH/F but I'm thinking about returning it once it gets here and exchanging it for a Medium Light/Fast as I already have two MH/F spinning rods as well as two Medium/Fast but i don't have any Medium Light/Fast for finesse (drop shot, Ned/Neko Rig).
