  1. If I were to go up in size I'd only go up one size...anything more and you run the risk of ruining the action of the bait.
  2. Yup, that's why I choose my Dobyn's Fury...by far my most versatile rod.
  3. Okay, I have a new Curado DC on the way. It's a 7.4:1 RH but I'm contemplating what I would like to do with it, should I use it as a reaction bait reel (i.e. topwater, lipless, chatterbait, jerkbait etc.) or should I use it to throw lighter stuff like plastics or should I use it for jigs and spinnerbaits? I was thinking of putting it on my Dobyn's Fury 734C (7'3" Heavy/Fast although I've heard some say Dobyn's are usually a little underpowered so maybe this rod is more of a Medium Heavy)...just not sure if I should spool with fluorocarbon or braid with a mono/fluoro leader? I guess the possibilities are almost endless as this reel should be capable of throwing just about anything...just wondered what some of you other guys/gals who have this reel have it set up for?
  4. It used to not be allowed because the company wasn't affiliated with Bass Resource but their product is now being sold at Tackle Warehouse which IS a site sponsor and is affiliated with the site so I would think the name would now bellowed. probably just a web site oversight but the name of the jigs is in the title of this post, just add a .com to the end and you will visit their web site.
  5. Cocoons! I got a pair last year with green mirrored lenses and they work AWESOME!!! It's very hard to find fitover sunglasses but these are reasonably priced and a lifetime warranty!
  6. *** jigs are legit! I have several of them and really like them. IMO they are one of the best jigs made...period! They do like they say they do, almost impossible to get snagged and almost always hook em' in the top of the mouth. Bo is also a great guy, you can call him and he'll talk fishing with you for several minutes and he's always eager to help his customers get the right jig for the right situation if you describe where you fish. Nothing but quality, no gimmick!!!
  7. because I decided to make a new post but had already started this reply. It wouldn't let me delete the reply so i had to say something ?.
  8. It was a special deal for me...making up for a botched transaction.
  9. Well, I finally made my decision. I just ordered a new Shimano Curado DC 7.4:1 RH. I got it from Academy Sports as I had a 30% off coupon code for them so I ended up getting my new DC for $185 shipped. It just seemed like a good choice for me personally as a best of both worlds as far as skipping or bombing casts. I watch the videos on YouTube and a lot of guys use the DC on setting 4 for skipping so it seems as though maybe the Tat SV might be a little better at skipping but the DC won't be that far behind too. Now I just have to wait for ice out up here in the North .
  10. Just got an email, Biospawn is having a 40% off sale!
  11. Plano has just come out with a new Rustrictor box. It is infused with some sort of rust inhibitor to keep your hooks from rusting.
  12. Update!!! After checking my rods I have two 6'6"...one is MH and the other is M. I also have the one 7' MH.
  13. Yup, I figured. Honestly, I probably could have worded it differently in my original post...I was just spitballin' ideas of what to do with the rods :).
  14. I think so...I just remember searching Google because the original code wouldn't work anymore and I stumbled across this one.
  15. What do you think about the 6'6" MH for a jerkbait and spook rod?
  16. Thanks but I was more or less just letting people know which models i had, not really debating the worthiness of the newest generation .
  17. I wouldn't sell them on here, I'd sell them locally!
  18. Hi all, Last year I got 3 of the Berkley Lightning Rod Shock casting rods on clearance at Walmart for $9 each. I never did put a reel on any of them and I'm wondering if they're good enough to put in the everyday arsenal or if I should look to unload them for $20 a pop and make a profit? These are the last gen models with the cork grips, not the new ones with the plastic reel seat (which looks like a design flaw to me...that plastic reel seat practically says "break me"...at least IMO). I have a 7ft. MH/F, 7ft. M/F and a 6'6" MH/F. If you'd keep them would you put a nice reel on them or something you don't really care about? Thanks for any opinions!!!
  19. LTBSAVESQ1 will get you $5 off your order.
  20. To these online/YouTube guys their reputation is everything to them...if they put their names on complete junk and word gets out they're finished and will be replaced by another YouTuber in a heartbeat!
  21. Here's the web site... https://www.stixfishing.com/
  22. Has anybody ever heard of these rods before? No, not Carrot Stix but Stix rods from Stix Fishing. I just watched a video from Nick the Informative Fisherman and apparently they sponsor him. I checked out the rods and they look sweet, are priced right at $100 but i just don't know much about them and wondered if anybody has one and how they like it?
  23. If i could i wouldn't have posted ?. Like that said, just see some other reels with bigger drags and also reviews like Tackle Tour and they usually say 11-13lbs. drag is average to low in today's reels but honestly I'm sure its enough for me as we don't have bass that size anyway.
  24. Nothing...lol. Sorry, sort of flipped the script on ya'. i turned this into a 2 part question post :).
