  1. The reason for keeping teh spool standing up is so that the line does not twist as much. After I started to stand the spool up I realized how much of a difference that it made. But if you have to have it laying down then stop every 15 or 20 turns of the handle and flip the spool over so that the line twist cancells itself out.
  2. Browning Midas Rod 6'10" MH Pflueger Summit Reel 12lb test Fluro Shakey Head -Margarita Mutilatior III Roboworm 6" Tandem Spinnerbait - 3/8 Baby Bass color Jig - 1/2 oz Black Blue Strike King Fluke - Albino Shad Crankbait - Blue Shad DT6
  3. A Pflueger Supreme 8035 is an amazing deal. 80 bucks for a spinning reel that weighs 8.8 ozs and is incredibly smooth and nice to hold. You would not be dissapointed in it.
  4. Also if a loomis is not in your price range, check out the Browning Midas rods. For 130 bucks It is an awesome rod, sensitive, feels great to hold, and cant weigh more than 3-4 ounces
  5. Well I just put in the order for the ASR815C(6'9" M) rod so it should be getting here on fri. hopefully, and will put a Pflueger Summit on it and will try to post a review as soon as I get it. The only thing is that I am hoping that UPS is nice to it in the mail
  6. If you all are still looking then www.all-americanoutdoors.com has them for only 90 bucks
  7. Earlier this year when my dad and I were striper fishing at night we used lights to attract the shad to come next to the boat, and everytime something would scare the shad they would all jump and run into the bottom and sides of the boat. We would be sitting there and all of the sudden we would start hearing thud, thud, thud. It was crazy how many shad there were and how disorganised they were, when ever we needed bait we just reached over the boat and grabbed a shad with our hands.

What is a good rod building kit(spinning 7') at a reasonable price(around 50-75$). I have been looking at the cabelas ones http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/index/index-display.jsp?id=cat20364, but am not sure of what else I would need, or if they even have good ones.
  9. I dont know about the reel but I have the 6'10'' MH Midas and I feel that it is the lightest most sensitive rod that I own. It is at least as senstitive as my All Star Platinum, and definately lighter. I also have some custom made rods that I feel no difference in sensitivity or weight. For a beginning baitcaster I would highly recommend it the 6'10 is perfect for anything that you could want to use it for, it has a nice medium/soft tip so that you can work weightless soft plastics and work topwaters and it has a good solid backbone for fishing jigs and plastic worms. As for brittleness I take extremely good care of my rods and reels, and would suggest not mistreating it. Just like any other rod, as long as you arn't slapping it around or overloading it should not break. After using it for about a year I give it a 10/10
  10. Dolphins, turtles, whales and whatever else lives in the water and still breathes air. If you live in the water then learn to freaking breathe it ;D But other than that just sand fleas, the last time that I came bach from being chased off the beach I looked like i had chicken pox from all of the little red bite marks.
  11. One word: JITTERBUG Grass Carp love cicadas, which is what a jitterbug looks like in the water
  12. Is that what they are supposed to look like? Mine must be broken or something because both of my arrows are on E all the time ;D
  13. Nikon Coolpix S9 is what I am packing. I love it for my fishing, it fits in my pocket, turns on and off in under 1 second, has auto focus, facial recognition. 6.1 megapixels, and basically everything that I could want in a camera for only 250
  14. If they are grass carp not regular carp try a jitterbug. that is a little trick that I learned while fishing for bass in my neighborhood pond once. The carp think that it is a cicada on the surface and just crush it like a bass would.
  15. What are the advantages of boron over graphite? I've heard a lot of good things about boron and how much more sensitive it is than graphite. I'm just wondering if boron lives up to the hype about it's sensitivity and lightness
  16. Go with the Supreme, I have one and it is much better than the president. It is sits lower on the rod (I've heard complaints about the pres sitting too high in the reel seat), 2 ounces less, has the added magnetic braking system which I love and adds for a more fine tuned setting than just 4 centrifugal brake settings, It can cast smaller lures much better than the pres, and I am sure that I missed some more, but overall the supreme is much better.
  17. It seems to me that most of the bigger fish that I catch on a shaky head only feel like a mushy feeling or just one tap, because I think that bigger fish can take in the whole worm with just one bite while the smaller fish need a couple bites to get it all in their mouth and feel more like a tap tap tap
  18. Pflueger Supreme on a BPS extreme rod(6'6" MH would be a good choice but I use All Stars and am not in a position to judge the quality if BPS rods although from what i hear they are great for the money) of your choice or on a pro qualifier but that might be getting a little close to 250 the Pflueger supreme is the best and smoothest reel that I have ever owned. JT Bagwell gives the Pflueger President a 10 out of 10 for quality and the supreme is a few notches above the president. Supreme-130 Extreme-100 or Pro Qualifier-120
  19. In the bass pro catalog, the only things that match that color are the x-rap in (hot head #65) and the original floater in (gold fluorescent red #04)
  20. dang, Muddy if i had known that you were looking for a pflueger baitcaster I could have gotten you one this coming weekend at the shakespeare yard sale where pflueger sells all of their unsold reels for 30-80 percent off. Trions are 70, Presidents are 100 and supreme's are 130 bucks
  21. I like to use a craw tube and pitch it on the beds, you just have to set the hook a little harder because there is a lot of plastic in the way of the hook
  22. I went out and got tickets for the 10:00 showing so tonight I wont have to wait in line
  23. we all know that people say they caught it on a swimbait to get sponsorships. both weakly's 25 and the rumored 20+ were both caught on a creme 3 hook worm with a spinner in front ;D ;D
  24. Our club had a tournament on lake Murray on the 17th and the air temp was 20 and the water was about 45. the winning weight was 21 lbs on a pj's football jig in 35-40 feet of water on points. I caught 5 fish on a dropshot for 8lbs even and my boater caught 11lbs on crankbaits and a dropshot
  25. Go to wally world in the fishing/hunting section and get somt of the fingerless gloveswith mitten covers and cut off the thumbs and sew them so the foam does not come out. It cost me six bucks and 5 minuites and it saved my hands on a recent 14 degree tournament. Also I was skeptical about being able to feel bites through the gloves but really I found that there is almost no difference in sensitivity.
