Must Have Been A Law.
I'm sure none of you recognize or have even heard of this gentleman. But in 1938 in Washington State he started the first organized Bass club in the United States....The Western Bass Club. His name was Ed T. Frederich...known locally as "Mr. Bass", and he was never seen without a pipe in his mouth.

They're Heeere!
I probably won't be able to help you much, my unit is a basic sonar GPS model. But, that being said, I'm very pleased so far.

What Are Your Favorite Lures To Skip?
Tubes under docks, overhanging willows, blowdowns. Occasionally, a 1/4 oz jig and pig, but I have to use spinning....never have been able to skip with casting gear.

The Jig And Eel , History Of Jig Trailers
I had a pretty good supply of them when I quit fishing 15 years ago. I use to drain off about 1/2 the liquid they were packed in and replaced it with anise oil. When I dug 'em out last week they were still as good as new.....and smelled good too! Back then they had many more colors and sizes. In particular they had a twin tail about 4" long in chartreuse that I used to love to flip with. Their new double tail isn't as thick and meaty as they were then.

2016 Bass Tracker?
I would think that carpet would be a much quieter option.

First Fishing Boat
What is your budget? How large of water will you be fishing?

Minimal Tackle?
I am right where you are. Recently retired, haven't fished in 15 years (still have all my gear though), just bought a used Ranger, and looking to scale waaaaay back on tackle. Instead of 10 different 6" worms in 10 colors, I'm going to pick my best producing worm in 2-3 colors. Same with cranks and spinnerbaits. Out of all the stuff I use to take with me in the boat, I always wound up throwing the same tried and true baits. I'm going to set up my boat something like this. Good Luck to you.

Online Shopping
I hope I'm not breaking any rules here....but could anybody explain what the "Sportsman's Guide Buyers Club" is? I ran across it while searching for a Mister Twister double tail that I use to use. Is it legit and worth the money? Thanks

Jig Color Debate
I'll use any color jig....as long as it's black. If I want to add color, I do it in the trailer. And that usually involves some degree of chartreuse and is most likely pork. Just before I quit fishing 15 years ago I laid in a good supply of Gary Klein Weapon jig heads and a whole bunch of living rubber skirt material. So that is what I use 100% of the time.

Baitcaster Line Keeps Breaking
Replace the guide, or the rod. Your next cast could be your fish of a lifetime. Do you really want to chance breaking it off and living with that the rest of your life?

Getting Ready For The Season
Not odd to me. I wait with baited (pun intended) breath for the first frost..It's like flippin' a switch on the lake I fish in the fall. I love throwing a Zara Spook and watching them blow it 3 feet in the air. Of course it's pretty cool when they get hooked also. Good Luck

If You Could Only Take 5 Rods
That's like saying you can play 9 holes with a driver and a putter....sure it's possible but....

Why Top Water Lures?
I believe a bass will hit a topwater (incl buzzbaits) for different reasons than most other baits....it really ticks 'em off and they don't want that kind of thing moving into their neighborhood. I have caught around 30 fish 6lbs +......a full 90% were on a topwater bait. Confidence? You bet!

If You Could Only Take 5 Rods
1. Flippin' Stick 2. Worm Rod 3. Crankin' rod 4. Spinnerbait Rod

How Much $
Of course depends on what refinery blew up today, but usually between $70 and & $90.

Yellow Perch
Really pretty simple.....stick a nightcrawler on a hook 16" or so under a decent sized split shot and put it on the bottom somewhere near a weedbed. After you catch a few, fillet strip off one of the smaller ones and use the strip in place of the worm. They are carnivorous little turds. Good luck

Line Color Fish See It?
As I'm reading the full spectrum of opinions on this post it occurs to me that everybody has a different definition of "clear" water based on their local environment . I fish some lakes in Eastern Washington that you can see your shadow on the bottom in 100 feet of water...in 20 feet of water you can read the mint mark on a dime. Even "lo-Vis" green line looks like cable in this water. I've seen tons of Bill Dance videos where he's fishing "clear" water with a visibility to 4 feet. In my neck of the woods we call that stained or cloudy.water. Talk about your po-tato, po-tahto.

Baitcasting Reels
You have to understand that I have been away from the fishing scene for over 15 years.......but when, and why, did they start hanging that big gear box on the side of casting reels? Doesn't that add to the weight? Thanks

Question About Line Spooling
Not sure why I got a double post......sorry.
