  1. What hook do you use with the Rage Toad?
  2. If it doesn't feel comfortable, I would just return it and get something else.
  3. Shimano makes the Curado K (5.0) and the Calcutta D (5.6) in left handed versions. I have the Calcutta D and it's very nice if you like round reels.
  4. I haven't ordered from BPS in ages but they would always block me from ordering anything lead under an ounce because it's not legal here in MA. I'm guessing Academy can't or doesn't want to deal with coding everything that's not legal in CA. Their website is a little weak. One of the things I wish they would improve.
  5. I have a family friend who insisted he didn't need to wear a PFD. He fell out of a canoe and got trapped in milfoil and drowned. The divers had a tough time finding his body. Lots of comfortable PFD options out there. Please wear one.
  6. Congratulations on graduating and getting your first job after college!
  7. Happy Father's Day!
  8. Wow. That’s impressive! How did you catch so many fish on one senko?
  9. Very similar to NE but our winters are not as bad. Wasn't cold enough for you out here. Don't forget pothole season. LOL!
  10. this! I wish they would sell nicer Shimano, St. Croix and Loomis Rods again. They mainly have BPS brand rods. No thanks! Not a fan of their apparel/shoes either. It's cheap quality. The Cabela's branded stuff was so much better. They are following the model of most retailers. Copy their vendors merchandise, offer it at a lower price point and then cut them out.
  11. I don't have any Academy stores near me and have only been while traveling. Do they still have rods from Shimano, St. Croix and other big brands in store or are they moving to store brands like BPS has?
  12. Another vote for the Daiwa Ardito. I have the 7' medium casting rod. It fishes a little heavier than a medium. Comes with tube that you can throw in the overhead bin.
  13. Has anyone seen "Man's Favorite Sport" (1964) with Rock Hudson and Paula Prentiss? https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0058324/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1
  14. I have all my combos with lines spooled in a google spreadsheet. I don't switch reels around much, so this works for me. I also have tabs for each type of lure with brand, model, weight, hooks size, color names/codes and prices paid. It's handy because I can access it on my phone while I'm in the store. When I see a shiny bait on the shelf calling my name, I can look up and see that I already have it at home. ?
  15. What do the reel seats on your other rods look like? If they are more comfortable I would say just return this rod and get another from that manufacturer. I have an older Shimano Clarus that has an uplocking real seat. You could try find something like that or maybe try another rod that has the locking nut under the cork.
  16. Welcome Colby! In your other thread you mention that you bank fish reservoirs and small ponds. In that case I would recommend a 6'6" medium power fast action spinning rod. It's easier to learn and good for bank fishing especially if you have any trees and bushes around. You will be also be able to fish light lures too. The Daiwa Aird X Spinning Rod in medium with the Daiwa Revros LT 2500 are a great choice. I would go with a 2 piece rod because it's easier to store and transport. Spool it up with some 8lb mono like Trilene XL and you will be able to fish a lot of techniques and for other species. Don't worry you will have lots of time to get into bait casters. If you hang out here you will wind up buying lots of gear. ?
  17. I already have the 6 UL Was wondering about the 7’ Light.
  18. Been thinking about getting that one too. What lures do you fish with the 7' light Celilo? The lure rating is 3/16 - 5/8.
  19. You're welcome! I almost ordered pumpkinseed and gill too. Somehow I was able to restrain myself.
  20. Great advice! I have this same rod for trout and panfish and I love it. I have a $30 Shimano Sienna which works fine, but if I had to do again I would probably buy a $50 Daiwa Revros.
  21. Sorry. My eyes missed the url. Asset sale makes sense. I wonder if the family has good advice and if they are having problems managing the business since the founders death. This combined with material shortages might enable a potential acquirer to get this cheap.
  22. Thanks for the info. Where did you get this from? Are you an analyst/banker?
  23. Ken Hicks, their CEO, really knows what he is doing.
  24. According to Ford, all Lightings will be AWD and the fast mode is available with the extended battery upgrade, which is available on all models. The extended battery is expected to be a few thousand. So yes it will be more than $40k to get the fast mode, but not $90K. There also is a tax credit of up $7500. Honestly I don't understand why people are not more excited about this. I guess change is hard for some to get excited about, except when it's from Daiwa, Shimano, Loomis or St. Croix. ?
