  1. I'm with you, Catt. Just making a joke. I've beaten my alarm almost every day for the last 5 years.
  2. What's the best alarm clock for $99 or less?
  3. I'm always early. Work, appointments, fishing, you name it. Thankfully my favorite fishing partner, my dad, is also punctual.
  4. If you can find a used LL Bean backpack, those have excellent quality zippers and a ton of storage. I use two for all of my 3700 boxes, one when I'm in a smaller boat.
  5. I probably have bulk spools of Silver Thread older than you!
  6. I've been using mono or copoly on crankbaits since the 1980s, I'm guessing a lot of us "old timers" just never saw the need to change.
  7. I only use presto pots for big batches of remelt. For virgin plastic I still use Pyrex in the microwave.
  8. Still lots of guys throwing Texas rigs, it just isn't an internet darling bait, so you don't hear about it as much.
  9. Yamamoto flapping hog
  10. They certainly do work, I just haven't used one since I stopped riding a bike to go fishing. I've caught a lot of bass throwing Cicadas, which is part spoon, part silver buddy.
  11. I really like my HMX. I have a 7' ML/F spinning, zero complaints. I use it with a 2000 or 2500 reel for Neds and crappie fishing. Heck of a rod for 80 bucks.
  12. High school teacher, athletic director and plus size male model.
  13. Those dumb things last forever. Had to take my socks/Crocs off to launch in low water last year and never put the socks back on. Foolish in my part, I almost always and covered head to toe.

They were hollow like you had said, I had a pack and only threw them on a Texas rig.
  15. Lew's Carbon Fire rods for me. Grabbed a few for 39.99 a piece 2/3 years ago after I lost all of my rods in a fire. I figured by now I would have upgraded, but I'm not going to for a while. They aren't the high end Fenwick and St Croix I lost, but I'm very impressed.
  16. Enjoy the process of learning. Every "Whats the best _____ for ______?" thread ends up with a ton of different opinions, all of which are valid. Experience is the best teacher.
  17. I spend time with my father-born in 42- every day. My first and favorite fishing partner.
  18. +1 on no mono for frog fishing, just telling the original poster there's no need for special mono for leaders.
  19. When you fill a reel and have line left over, but not enough to fill another reel, that's what I use for leaders. Could be the house brand here (big game) or any other quality mono. The bad qualities of any particular mono are lessened when you only use 6-8 feet of it.
  20. Tom is right, the strike indicating properties of bright braid are important here. A lot of folks gut hook bass on wacky senkos because they don't know the fish is there.
  21. I caught a 4lb smallmouth using one last year- an old Lews Speed Stick. Wrist wrecker is very accurate!
  22. Silver Thread, also out of production. Thankfully I have about 8 miles of it still. I did enjoy McCoy Mean Green last year though.
  23. I have to get up there at some point. Cheshire county is still locked up pretty well but this week should help quite a bit.
  24. I'm still waiting for shot #2. Supposed to be the first week of April.
  25. Looks really good. Hopefully we will be fishing in NH before too long.
