  1. I've had great results using Mobil 1 0W/20 in a needle oiler. I also use it on guns, hinges, and the Mrs' car. Fifteen cents an ounce isn't too bad either.
  2. I still catch fish on Mann's jelly and augertails, it will be a sad day when I run out. I have lots of 8", not nearly enough 6". I also use a lot of Poe's baits, wiggle warts, mud bugs and Bomber lures my dad bought in the 70s. The original poster mentioned Guido Bugs, I have less than 50 left. Used to catch a lot of spots on those down south.
  3. I grabbed a spool of 20 lb Hi Seas at a flea market for 3 bucks. My buddy who throws big swimbaits loved it.
  4. I feel it is more abrasion resistant than Trilene XL. I used the 8 lb (.011) for shad raps and had no complaints. It also casts great. I'm of the belief that if you need line conditioner you need better line. This stuff is really nice. Hope it doesn't get discontinued like my Silver Thread.
  5. I've said it here before, but I must have gotten a bad spool of Yozuri Hybrid. I couldn't believe how well received it was here. I'm a lifelong user of Silver Thread Copoly, which is sadly discontinued. When I run out, I'll switch to McCoy, which I also like.
  6. I'm fine with the twisted trebles, some of the special edition baits came with. It's the dull stock hooks that I dislike. I haven't bought a new Heddon that wasn't on Ebay in years, I'm guessing some of the baits I bought there may have been 5+ years old. Their new hooks may be better, but always worth checking.
  7. Super spook Jr for me. Like all Heddons, upgrade the hooks and you're all set.
  8. Those are very nice reels, I got mine for $60 on the auction site. It's my tightlining reel.
  9. Thanks, I use the ceramic ones from Amazon. Nothing moves in that box.
  10. I super glue or double sided tape a magnet to each compartment in the box. My hook box could open and fall and I would lose nothing. Also, no annoying rattling when it's in my vehicle.
  11. I've been pouring worms, jigs, and changing hooks on crankbaits.
  12. L&S plunker
  13. Buy a big spool of something you would want to use. Or, get some Trilene XL and be done with it. I still use it on occasion and it is really good line.
  14. I don't use additives. At the end of the year I pump it out and run it in my truck or tractors. I have used Stabil in the past, but burning it in my truck is easier. A few gallons of mixed fuel dilutes nicely in a 30 gallon tank.

    O-H!
  16. Agree 100% and nice fish! I don't want to go to a heavier head because I catch a lot of fish on the drop with Neds-which rarely happened when I threw a jig and worm.
  17. I really started getting into college softball last year. I'm a Buckeye, but watch the whole big ten. I also miss listening to major league baseball on AM radio in my shop. It brings me back.
  18. I don't know if it's overfished, I would put it in the same category as the Senko-it works great for newer fishermen. That's why it gets so much internet love. I'll always have a Ned rod in the boat, its a good fit for the types of lakes I fish. That being said, its usually a last resort technique for me. If I can't catch fish on a ned rig, I go home.
  19. This is exactly my favorite set up. I will pour some #1s and some other weights, but the Lil Nasty is my favorite hook.
  20. I fish in Crocs, easy to walk in the water on bad ramps, very comfortable and hideous. I find them at TJ Maxx for 15 bucks whenever I'm dragged there.
  21. Practice skipping when you're in the middle of the lake- it takes accuracy and getting hung up out of the equation. Once you get the rythm down you're ready to lose some baits!
  22. I'm over by Keene, welcome!
  23. You could probably flip it and it will last twice as long!
  24. As Phish said, Lews Carbon Fire rods are an excellent value at 39.99 when on sale. I'd also add the Skeet Reese rods, I've found them for 40 on sale too. Also agree with Maximus, used reels are often a good value. I have a soft spot for 80s Shimano and Ryobi reels, I keep scooping them up on Ebay for 20 bucks and they still perform.
