  1. Sounds good-I live in a lead free state or I'd still be working from my pile of lead too.
  2. For those of you who have the mold and like the light heads, pour them with bismuth. The bismuth/tin mix is lighter than lead, which falls even slower.
  3. The Ryobi V Mag 4 that I learned on.
  4. I'm not surprised, I keep my ZMan baits in the fridge. I lost a few bags when they melted together, even though they were in the original bags.
  5. Lews carbon fire rods are 39.99 at Dick's right now. They are very nice rods for 40 bucks-i have three. Search around, they are well thought of here.
  6. I superglue magnets in my hook compartments to fix that and eliminate the rattling sound.
  7. Today I used a Fuego, an SLX, and a Pro Qualifier. All were bought new in 2019. The Shimano acted like it needed oil, it was the noisiest of the three. The Fuego is my favorite, the PQ a close second.
  8. I really dislike Seneca, but my uncle camps there so it's convenient. If it weren't for family, I'd never go back. Lots of work for a bunch of 14 inch fish. I'd much rather fish it for white bass, at least they keep me busy.
  9. I recommend buying red hooks when they are cheaper than the normal ones. Otherwise, I believe it's all in your head.
  10. I've been using Silver Thread since 1994. From 6-17 lb test I have never been disappointed.
  11. I've stacked two back to back for deep Texas rigged tubes. It makes quite a bit of noise when you snap them off the bottom.
  12. Just bought the Flapping Hog mold off of them on Ebay. It won't be here for at least 6 weeks...but for 35 bucks...I won't be pouring until November anyway. I'll update this thread with some pictures when the time comes. Thanks for the input, gentlemen, and good fishing. SoCal, could you update this with your thoughts when you receive the mold? Really curious, thanks!
  13. I'm also a part timer living in New Hampshire and going to southeastern "Ahia" in the summer. Probably going to scoot up to Erie and St Clair around July 1st, otherwise it's Seneca and Dillon for me.
  14. I ran across a bunch of these on Ebay. I'm tempted to pull the trigger on one, curious to see if any of you have used them. They are made of engineered stone.
  15. I only throw jigs with straight braid in vegetation, and I put a drop of super glue on the knot just in case.
  16. Since 1981 when I was four. I took many a nap under the console of dad's old Fisher Marine.
  17. I've done 12 on medium spinning equipment before, it isn't ideal but it will work.
  18. I also pour these heads, and use 1/0, #1, and #2 hooks. I pour mine with bismuth/tin to stay legal here in NH, which is less dense than lead.
  19. I still remember when my Abu Royal Express 6.3 was the fastest reel out there. It made buzzbaits a lot easier to fish.
  20. The Columbia PFG/Huk shirts are a must for me, believe me you don't know you have them on. They are that comfortable. Another benefit is that I feel less fatigued after a day of fishing with them than when I just wore a t shirt and slathered on the SPF 50. I also agree with the early risers above. I get on the water by 6 and am off before 11:30. It helps that I'm a HS teacher, so I have all summer off!
  21. I had one of the good ones, loved it, but lost it in a fire last March. There's too many other nice rods in the 100 dollar range (gee, maybe I should start a thread ?) to chance buying a brittle rod.
  22. Or even a 2 or 3 pounder! Line stretches and fish get off.
  23. Here's a thought, try putting a prop from a Baby Torpedo on that Tiny Torpedo. It should be quite a bit larger and make more of a ruckus.
  24. I must have bought a bad spool of Yo Zuri Hybrid a few years back. I really didn't like it, but to each their own. I've been using Silver Thread Copoly since the early 90s. I really like the abrasion resistance when I'm fishing rocks for smallmouth, and it doesn't have the memory that some other lines have.
  25. I'll keep a bass if I know it won't make it-otherwise I only eat perch, crappie and bluegills.
