  1. Sorry, that seems confusing. No, I did not troll a Whopper Plopper or a frog, haha.
  2. I swapped all my handles out for carbon fiber. It is super simple and they can readily be had on eBay. If you call their customer service they will get you whatever you need. I prefer the 85mm but if you like the 95mm just give them a buzz.
  3. I'm a big Lews fan. eBay is your friend, especially with reels.
  4. I would recommend flouro for bottom contact baits and spinners. I like InvizX in 10 and 12lb.
  5. I use 10lb InvizX and a 7.1:1. Sensitive, low stretch for better hooksets, clear and great knot strength with the san diego jam.
  6. Tough day today. Left the slip at 6am and trolled to Three Mile launch and back to the Marina. Had four lines in the water at all times.. top water (WP, poppers, frogs), jigs + chatter baits, and deep diving cranks. Water temp right are 80 and clear skies. Didn't land a single fish. I hooked up with what look like a 12" LMB but it came unbuttoned at the boat. Hot, hot morning.
  7. Took my whopper plopper out to a small ~2 acre pond and had no luck.
  8. CRUSHED the record. Good for him! All the nonsense in the comments about keeping the fishing or releasing it is nauseating. Fish of a lifetime!
  9. I Texas rig the 2.8" with a 1/0. It may be a little unconventional but it's worked great for me.
  10. This is BY FAR my favorite soft plastic. Swimming them, dragging them on the bottom, high sticking them.. no matter what these things catch fish. I use the Pumpkin/Chartreuse colorway and an Owner wacky Ultrahead 1/8oz. It has a perfect rate of fall.
  11. Top water is certainly my weakness and it could be no fault but my own. However, I just cannot catch fish on my Pop Max/X's or Spooks. I recently bought a Whopper Plopper hoping that it will do the business for me, but only time will tell. Lipless crankbaits have never produced for me. I fish a lot of small stained waters that have decent depth. I think the rattle traps spook fish more than they attract them. I've tried multiple brands and designs but with no luck. Also, I had to double take when someone put Owner hooks as a disappointment. That is ludicrous.
  12. Squarebills: Strike King and XCalibur Jerkbaits: Megabass, Jackall, Baker and LC Soft plastics: Keitech crazy flapper is all I use anymore.. it's just too good.
  13. I went the complete opposite way. I have a bunch of assorted Spooks and Pop-Xs but just recently caved and got a 90 whopper plopper. I've never had much success throwing top water and I'm hoping the plopper turns it around.
  14. Love that color! Wish my waters were clear enough to warrant it. On another note.. I told myself I never would but I bought a freakin whopper plopper. I'm starting with a Perch 90 and if I have any sort of success I'm sure a few more will follow.
  15. What knot do you plan on using for the mono-to-braid connection?
  16. Dark jigs, chartreuse hard baits, rattle traps, dark soft plastics..
  17. I use 10lb InvizX with all of my soft plastics.
  18. Zara Spook. Learn a loop/rapala knot and teach yourself how to walk the dog.
  19. After you're done spooling it, tighten your tension knob so the spool remains still.
  20. If it holds 120 yards, put 90 yards on there. It will be a little more manageable. Don't forget to use your spool tension knob.
  21. 2.8" Keitech Crazy Flapper
  22. Just for clarification are you talking about the original Mojo's or the new 2016 redesign?
