  1. The Fenwick Silverhawk has been great for me, and I got it on sale for next to nothing. A Cabela's only rod. I also have a rod that can't be named here, but I absolutely love the thing. How do you like the Fury?
  2. Totally agree. Go to a local shop you trust and have them throw a guide on there.
  3. ugh, snake heads. I'm in Central Bucks but I'm anywhere from Penn Warner, to the River, to Green Lane Reservoir. There a bunch of good watering holes out this way.
  4. I've had really good luck with the Crème Scoundrel in the natural color. Either weightless or on an Owner Ultra Head wacky jig.
  5. We can't be too far from each other, and with that said I haven't had any luck with frogs around our area. The only time I have been relatively successful fishing top water is in the early morning. Just keep plugging away, if your set on making frogs work keep trying new areas and find fish that like them. You can bend the hooks out a little to try and get a better hook set. I usually trim the legs a little bit and I always make sure it isn't filled up with water. Fish it over thick cover, pads and grass. Oh, and make sure there's fish where you're casting!
  6. I only fish Lew's at the moment. I've had a few of their reels up and down the model range. I got an MB right before the season started and I really like mine. Obviously, the dual braking system is a huge plus but overall it's been great for me. Depending on what ratio you are looking for if you scan through eBay the MB can be had for around $108 with Free Shipping. Sportsman Outfitters on eBay is selling them pretty cheap, new.
  7. I fish a lot of InvizX, 10 and 12lb are my favorite for crankbaits and jerks.
  8. That's horrible. Should've thrown someone off the pontoon and made them tread water for an hour.
  9. Absolutely. You could rig up a golf ball and catch bass!
  10. Irrelevant considering the question at hand.
  11. Well if it's going to be attached to braid, its most likely going to be an application that doesn't lend itself to line stretch; ie. getting a good hook set with jigs and soft plastic presentations. Also, while fluoro isn't as stretch-proof as braid the right brand can have much less stretch than your common mono options. And last, fluoro is just a little less visible underwater which is always a bonus. Make sure you use the proper knot bringing mono to braid and braid to fluoro together. Try out a few options and see what works for you!
  12. I would go with a Fluoro leader, no matter the application.
  13. The problem is.. the questions hasn't been answered 1000 times. There is no real answer, it's all a matter of opinion and people want to be convinced they are making the right purchase. However, you're right in that everyone usually brings up the same 5 or 6 options. Fury, Bucoo, Tatula, Silverhawk, the Powell, the one three.. they're all good. Prospective buyers just need to know who they are doing business with and what standard they hold their product to. At $100 and above the customer service might be more important than the product.
  14. Some lines have less memory than others, but it shouldn't effect your results. I spool new mono every few months.
  15. I've got Tournament Pros and MBs.. both are fantastic. I would recommend them to anyone. Make sure they're comfortable in your hand.
  16. Ain't that the truth. I have absolutely no idea how that makes for good television.

    Man, you guys are salty.
  18. Which I had no idea was their method. I'll be wary going forward.
  19. It was just too stiff. I fish Lew's, and even with both Mag/Centr. brakes fully adjusted I could just not cast a lure the way I wanted. I don't want to say it was unmanageable but.. I should probably try a lighter test before I judge the line.
  20. I exclusively use InvizX with my FC applications. I tried 14# Sniper and just had really bad luck. I've only heard excellent things about Tatsu, but for the price of InvizX on eBay and how well it performs I can't jump ship.
  21. wow. that's horrid.
  22. seriously.. what are those "trapper" hooks?
  23. I have a 2005 Saabaru that's got a good amount of work done to it. I don't get to drive it as much as I used to since I purchased a new Z71 Silverado but its a hard car not to like. Never had an easy day and ate it up.
