Newbies, junk lure threads and the search function.
Tyrius said it all, the secrets to running a search on the forums, searching 1 year back might take a little bit longer than searching the past week, so be patient!

Its about that time of year again
Sorry, I'm gonna have to pass also...trip to Australia was pretty unexpected, I thought I could pull off going fishing in the AM and head to the airport later, but apparently for international flights they want you to check in 01982750256 hrs early....

tipping guides (how much)
I can't say first hand...but when my uncle took me fishing awhile back he said to tip just like a restaurant, 15% for a normal trip, 20% for an awesome trip.

need help on choosing right jig head for tube's
I had the worst luck with the Owner phantom hooks, i'd get a bite and set the hook...I'd feel the fish on and fight it for about 3-5secs then nothing. This happened about 3-4times before I said screw it to the owner hooks and just used a bullet weight and a 3/0 ewg.

Need Advice on Waders
The felt helps you grip slippery rocks. If you can try getting the felt with the metal studs, they help out a bunch. Also even though felt might work wonders on rocks it sucks on boats and kayaks. So keep that in mind if you're thinking of using it for both wading and on a small craft. I believe orvis is having a sale on their entry level waders

somewhat confused on rod choice for certain baits
What Unc Leo said...the only thing I would consider is not always going mod for cranking, I have a MF rod which works well with cranking small/med shallow cranks. It has a pretty soft tip
-
medium heavy or heavy
If fishing soft plastics like the senko stick to the MH, it works well with the lighter jigs and allows you to cast the senko's pretty easily. Go for a fast or xf tip for the quick hooksetting power

yep, our SOT's are pretty stable, I don't think i've ever come close to being flipped while in Andrew's yak, his is 13ft I think and wide so stability is good. I've been in the bay with my 10fter with a decent amount of waves and stability still really wasn't an issue. Getting wet does suck though so waders are a must. Also a bunch of guys over at the Kayak Fishing stuff forum did a few tests in a pool and they found that with waders, a jacket, and a PFD, totally submerged in water, only a little water gets into the waders, (I always thought it was a rushing torrent ). Turns out the PFD compresses the jacket onto the waders and onto you keeping water out and the waders above the waterline.

Swift Creek Reservoir - Richmond,VA
Hiya! I've only fished there a few times but I know there's a flat area around here when I fished it the water was really low, so the area was only in about 2-3ft of water, the levels have probably risen since then but there was a drop off past the flat that went from 2-3ft to 15ft pretty steeply, caught a few there. There's also an old road bed i think that runs through there where I caught a few but it's hard to pinpoint a location. good luck! Also...how do you enter this tourny?

Any of you Richmond guys going to BPS soon?
