  1. For about $100 you can get a pretty good battery from Auto Zone. Use one on my 17 ft. boat.
  2. No close season in Mississippi, fish anytime.
  3. When I bought all new reels this year, I also bought the reel covers and the rod socks. Both are pretty cheap, got both from BPS. Only takes a few seconds to put both on and keeps your rod and reels working good and looking new.
  4. All great advise. Don't overlook buying used. You can get more HP on main motor and TM for the money. If you don't know a lot about boats, you probably know someone who does, take them with you when you are looking. If you can swing a new boat with enough motor, that to me is the way to go but don't rule out used.
  5. First few years that I started fishing, I fished a 12 acre private lake. If you can't catch fish, it's hard to learn how to fish. Wish I could fish it now.
  6. 6.4 lbs. on a 3/8 oz. white Hart buzzbait.
  7. I have had both the spinning reels with the trigger and the Tenn. handles. I still have 2 rods with the Tenn handle, a Lew's and a Skyline. There use to be a casting rod that came out, the guides started on the top and wrapped around to the bottom, never had one of those. The most gimmick I have seen is a wood handle for a casting rod. This guy came to the biggest sporting goods in town advertising a wood handle. This was when pistol grip was the norm. He would cut off your pistol grip and install his wooden grip on your rod. Claims you can feel better with the wood grip. He destroyed many a good rod that day !!! Yes, I got one.
  8. Never used anything but Plano 3700, never felt the need to try anything else.
  9. Most of us are really "ate up with it". we have reel problems that we don't want solved.
  10. I have never heard of one. When I was in a bass club years ago, we would have an yearly garage sale which included fishing tackle, lures, etc. We would raise about $500 in 4 hours for the club.
  11. 87 ethanol is going for $1.65. Ethanol free 87 is $2.09.
  12. Sounds like to me she is trying to make you worry. Tell her to take a pregnant test and let you see the results.
  13. I also suggest the Pfluegers, take a look at the President Limited Edition. It's a little less weight and higher gear ration. Also a good looking reel.
  14. It's going to be 63 degrees and sunny tomorrow in Mississippi. Think I might have to go see if the crappie is biting.
  15. War Eagle also makes one in 1/8 oz. with a clacker.
  16. In cold weather, I like the 1/16 oz. hair jigs, a guy in my state makes some of the best ones I have seen. In summer, I like the tube jigs.
  17. I would suggest Pflueger reels. Even their cheapest President is a mighty fine reel. I like the 30 size reel with Sunline 7 or 8# test Sniper fc.I have the Pflueger Supreme XT with 7# fc, love it.

    Love it !!!!
  19. Maybe you need to quit gaming, or at least lay off of it for a while. I play golf so I know what you mean. I think about it this way, it's only a stupid game, there are other things a lot more important.
  20. I believe Med./light is the way to go. I fish the Ned Rig, small shakey heads, on my St Croix Avid MLXF and it works really well.

I wear Huk or similar long sleeve shirts in the summer. They are really not that hot. I have had skin cancer cut off my arm so I am very careful in the sun.
  22. Great place to hang out. Thanks to all that make it possible. Welcome Jimmy !!!!!
  23. It gets better after you get calluses.
  24. 12# Sunline Sniper FC, the best out there. Throws like mono.
