  2. Communication before you launch. I’ve been a back seater and had to fish prop wash all day. Not fun. If my co angler is skilled at pitching I tell him to watch where I cast because I will leave spots open to give him a decent opportunity to stick a fish. I also fish a bait with a faster sink rate and encourage the CO to fish a slow falling bait. I get just as excited to see my CO catch them as me. Obviously fish big open water does not present this issue.
  3. Believe it or not, there was a day when plastic trailers did not exist. The material of the day was pork rind that was cut, trimmed and dyed to provide that trailer. You put a chunk of pork rind on your spoon or jig, hence the pork chunk and now the generic “chunk.” As said already, there are hundreds of options. They add bulk, color, variation in action and rate of fall. Very few anglers fish a “naked” jig anymore. I remember taking a plastic worm and slicing it with a razor knife to create a jig trailer.
  4. I bought two lots of deep crankbaits from A Jay at a very very good price and they all had hook changed out to the good stuff. I just grabbed three dozen Dobyns football jigs, 3/4 ounce, for a buck each. That was a deal! I bought a brand new Quantum Smoke for sixty bucks and made it a birthday gift to my tournament partner. Several pre owned Daiwa from members here for great prices. I grabbed three New Procyon spinning reels for 99.00 each. Also a new Zillion for 211.00. Not bad.
  5. Xuron model 496 are the best I’ve found to date. They handle the size 2 oval shaped split rings and that’s pretty small
  6. VanDam Warehouse. I just googled what you are looking for.

  8. The issue with up grading is, what do you do with the equipment that was just religated to second string?
  9. You are so sneaky. No wonder that trailer color is nada.
  10. Spro has introduced three new boxes that are high quality and affordable. The smoke box is designed to maximize space. I like mine.
  11. Yes. In heavy flows, such as the Columbia, where water is still very clear, I’m bringing the bait back quickly with the current or more often, quartering the current. The thicker tandem willows rotate better than cheap thin gauge blades. That’s my observation.
  12. Smalller flipping jig. Nose hook a SK Rage Chunk rather than attempt to thread it on.
  13. If you fish a River system, the thicker high quality blades prove their worth.
  14. Nope. I throw a spinnerbait on my chatter bait rod. I use two different combos for spinnerbaits because of the significant difference in applications. When burning in open water for smallmouth the composite gets the duty. When working a spinnerbait in stained water with heavy cover, wood, pads, bushes and so on, the MH extra fast on 20 floor always gets that duty. Here’s the analogy: An NHL defenseman wall checking a player at speed in comparison to a nose guard stuffing a tail back.
  15. Pretty Colonel, very pretty, but can they fight?!
  16. How do you think the fact that a spotted bass has a rough patch on it’s tongue was discovered??! Just ask Frenchy.

  18. I added a Champion 733SF since this started and the Kaden 735CB and 743C will be here Wednesday. The blanket got bigger.
  19. I have som Norman DLN crankbaits that have the bills ground down so much I can’t tune them anymore.
