  1. I prefer a head with a flat keeled bottom.
  2. Shimano built the original BB1. Ryobi built the BB1N and their own variants with the V Spool. Lews brand was sold to Browning and additional variants were produced. The pre Browning reels were of a better quality. I have six or so. In their day they were the shizzle.
  3. I love me some crankbaits. I’d give it a go.
  4. Set you gay into quarters. Each gets to fish location and style for two quarters. If he’s not often to sharing the approaches, find someone more compatible ?
  5. This should help. An excerpt from my exchange with Gary Dobyns. All Dobyns CB rods that don’t have glass in the description are all graphite. We only have glass in the Champion Series. I do put 15 percent glass in the Colt Series. This is our intro series and I used glass to make the rod STRONG as it gets far more abuse mostly from the younger anglers. Dobyns CB glass rods are a mix of graphite primarily toward the butt section to lighten them up but the forward 60 percent of the blank is Glass. The only exception in the DC735 Glass and DC 736 Glass and the Glass material runs a little more forward in the blank, so there is less Glass in these two models. Gary added he will check into the misinformation and encouraged any calls regarding rod questions to be addressed by himself and or Brice. Hope this helps ya’all. Doug
  6. I can think of thirty members I’d be tickled to share a day with. As far as pros? Andy Morgan Greg Hackney Brandon Palaniuk Bryan Thrift Clark Wendlandt Also: Patrick Walters
  7. Any Dobyns rod that is a CB model is graphite. Any model that is designated CB Glass is a composite with one exception. The Champion 705CB Glass Moderate is all glass.
  8. Advertising on pg 35 in the recent Bassmasters. No retail or MSRP noted.
  9. That I’ve been to. Phil’s Propeller Shop in Redding California. They carried top of the line products and stocked bin after bin after bin of hand poured plastics suited for Lake Shasta, Clear Lake and many other locations. The amount of tackle crammed into that place was impressive. There are several really neat shops around Clear Lake as well.
  10. There are no secrets, just locations you haven’t seen being fished up to this point.
  11. I don’t over think it. I drag both. My Sleepers are 1/2 and 3/4 so they maintain contact in deeper zones.
  12. I needed a good laugh! Thanks
  13. I used to hate braid, period. But it’s come a long way so it’s my preferred line for all spinning applications with an appropriate leader, frogs, large top waters and lastly, for swim jigs.
  14. One bait I forgot. The SK Space Monkey. Run a light bullet weight and it will buzz on top or slow drop in pockets. This bait doesn’t get much attention but it is a producer.
  15. The Dobyns Kaden 735CB will cover your current needs very well. It has sufficient power for spinnerbaits and bladed jigs as well.
  16. It’s a good thing it was a pretty good game to over shadow the rest of the crap that surrounds the event.
  17. Way too violent, banging those stones together. The ROC men’s teams were disqualified for doping. Performance enhancing drugs. They have ED I guess.
  18. T rigged speed or gator tail worm with a 1/8 oz. sinker pegged. Freedom tackle swim jig with a paddle tail swimbait. Frog. You can try one.
  19. No hassle replacement program puts a new rod at fifty bucks plus shipping cost. FYI. I broke a rod awhile ago. My stupid fault. I had a replacement in about seven days. The process is simple.
  20. It’s not the cork that benefits from sealing. It’s the fills. So you just seal the entire handle and maintain the integrity and durability of the filled spots. And the corks is easier to clean.
