  1. So I’ll play the role of the old guy. When you compare where the sport of tournament fishing was in it’s infancy to what it has become, the potential sponsorship opportunities have gone out the roof. It’s a business, plain and simple. There was a time when I kind of wanted to identify with the “pros” but now I just enjoy being entertained by them. I rarely view how to videos because it’s redundant. I’ve learned just as much or more from this site as any where.
  2. This is great dialogue. I used to over emphasize color in lure selection. Colors or appearance is more of a factor when the water is clear and the lure presentation permits the fish to get an extended look at the bait. I agree color is one of several aspects that trigger a bass to respond.
  3. You might be a trend setter. Mine arrived today.
  4. This lure generated more pre release hype than any other lure I know of.
  5. Dry Creek Outfitters
  6. Faster than a game warden can lift his binoculars.
  7. 40 braid to an eighteen inch floro leader.
  8. Check sportsman’s Warehouse online
  9. I have several and they’re all deeper than 20 feet.
  10. I fish 20 lb. test frequently. It slows the rate of fall on bottom contact baits. It limits a crankbait’s depth to some extent. It’s more manageable when skipping and is less likely to cut into itself or wood.
  11. Smoke sparkle ring worm with chartreuse tail on a slider head.
  12. Dobyns Kaden 712SF would be an excellent choice. I have that and the 713SF and the lighter would serve you well.
  13. Over the last several years I’ve read hundreds of posts here on BR where members ask for lure, line, rod, reel and tackle / technique questions. As a broad based membership that is so geographically diverse, it is often hard to provide the best response because the situation is left out or at best vague. I wanted to share my observation to help improve the communication and information the questioner seeks. Here are some real life scenarios for me: Clear cold reservoir that is thirteen miles long and narrow with primary cover being rock, sand and huge stumps and very limited bottom grasses. Max depth 100 feet at full pool. Primary species smallmouth, and forage base of sculpins, crayfish and yellow perch. Ample off shore structure consisting of short points and creek channels. 2800 acre shallow lake with low visibility and high level of stain when windy. Very little structure. Primary cover is pad fields, piling rows and downed aged wood with runs of buck brush. All largemouth. Forage is sculpins, bluegill, crappie, yellow perch, tadpoles and frogs. No current and two small creek mouths. Kind of a bowl shaped lake. Now these descriptions are still somewhat vague but that type of information would go a long way to answering question to anglers just beginning there bass fishing career. Please share your thoughts and input. Am I wrong? CC
  14. At one Reaper oft shell hoodie and layer underneath.??
  15. Here’s an old one. If you store a rod on the wall using metal nails, that will cause your graphite rods to break on that point of contact.
  16. Dancin Eel and the helicopter lure. Storm Thin Fin
  17. Bass jaundice. Must have bit a rusty hook.
  18. It’s not over yet.
  19. Turkish spa?
  20. If the left thumb is on the reel, the right hand becomes an assist. Two handed casting is a good thing.
  21. I like sharing. I like sharing time with the few I can call real friends. I really like sharing knowledge and experience with young anglers. I sharing my stuff. I also like sharing my live well to those that enter it.
  22. How timely. I just changed numerous plugs, switches and light fissures at my mother’s home. I have been bit many times over the years. Getting tased is no fun either.
  23. I’ve been very disciplined this year and limited my purchases to a few top water baits but......I really wanted to replace a reel I sold with the Zillion G and ordered one from my local dealer and picked it up today. No one can spoil me like me.?
