  1. What depth range, structure, cover and species are you expecting to fish???
  2. Luhr Jensen Hot Lips
  3. Surprise! If you look closely you can see a couple of Speed Taps are sun bleached. They are models made in Hood River.
  4. As Sheriff Ed Tom Bell said in the movie No Country For Old Men, “ Some time my mind wanders.”
  5. I fish mine. They are replaceable.
  6. I apply 3/16, 1/4 and 5/16 and the selection is based on rate of fall and penetration needed. Bait design also comes into play. I find some baits need a quicker drop speed to get those wiggles moving.
  7. Welcome! I’m 40 minutes north of you. CC
  8. Well thought out and well written. I upgraded hooks and hardware on over 75 percent of my baits this year.
  9. Expand your horizons and seek to be versatile.
  10. Fishing a jet sit aggressively can tire my wrist some. Deep cranking doesn’t really tire me out but my combo handles those baits well. Nothing else seems to cause any fatigue. It’s amazing how much a 100 mm handle helps.
  11. Champion 732SF, with a 3000 Ballistic LT filled with 10 J Braid and a 13 foot leader. I rarely fish a Ned shallower that 10 feet. I’m a huge fan of Siebert’s 5/32 morel Ned heads.
  12. Baby or medium size brush hog.
  13. A local roast called Red Leaf. Community is also really good. I live in Washington but don’t care for Star Bucks.
  14. My local club took the time on day two of our tournament to have a memorial service on a lake with a thirty year history. Several former members no longer with us were recognized with special painted memorial stones showing their names and dates of passing. This was a wonderful moment because it focused on relationships and their value. The smoke from wild fires makes the image a bit hazy.
  15. I have too many. True. I have more flippin/punching rods than needed and a couple cranking rods as well. Heck, I have more tackle than I’ll ever use.
  16. The Bill Lewis model has a circuit board lip and it’s a nice bait. Spro Little John is my favorite with that material lip.
  17. My club fished a two day tournament this past weekend. Saturday my parter and I boated well over 60 smallmouth and other members had near similar results. This is a lake on the upper Columbia River that is 29 miles long. Day two saw numbers less than a third of the previous day. My biggest fish on each day were top water fish. No pictures because the largest was only 2.92 pounds. Lots of missed topwater strikes, aassshh.......!!!!! Still plenty of action. One note; 102 degrees and smoky as the dickens do to wild fires. Oh well.
  18. The answer is totally dependent on the body of water and targeted species. We have very diverse options to fish. I will however start with a reaction bait to see if the mood of the fish is active or not. That will most often be either a crankbait or a spinnerbait.
  19. Bobby Garland Gitzit. Aka: a tube.
  20. Trick worm in green pumpkin on a Siebert tungsten jig.
