  1. I always look forward to this thread. A-Jay, there is a definite absence of lipless crankbaits, mid depth crankbaits and wobble heads in comparison to the last two years. This year was with out a doubt the worse year for me regarding bigger fish. I was the Dink Dawg for sure. Decent numbers but it was cookie cutter 2021 .
  2. You are dealing with people. These are the same people that park in the yellow zones when the pick their kids up at school, pull into intersections on a yellow signal blocking the intersection, park in front of your driveway to check the garage sale across the street, leave their shopping cart in the lane and drive away pulling out in front of you, through their garbage and cigarettes out the window, drink a beer while walking the kids while trick or treating, put their garbage in the recycle only can, and on and on and on.
  3. Yamamoto Hula Grub. They are deadly for prespawn LM and SM.
  4. I understand what you were getting at. You’re comparing two manufacture’s models with stated power/actions that one might think would be very similar but they’re not. Your expectations were the opposite. I have a lot of experience with Dobyns products and how each series compares to the others and the progression of powers within the series and the consistencies are a factor why I lean toward that company so I was scratching my head. Thanks for info!
  5. So what percent of the target customers do you think are actual bass fisherman. My guess is less than five percent.
  6. I would not overlook the Daiwa Ballistic MQ LT 3000. Superb reel.
  7. The proper storage and maintenance of binoculars.
  8. Absolutely nothing. My 764CB gets the majority of use. There are however quite a few anglers who don’t want, or can’t justify the expense of a long deep cranking rod. I’m convinced an 805CB in the Kaden line would cross that bridge. After fishing my K735CB, I think a longer version is doable but that decision will be up to Gary Dobyns.
  9. As most members know the trends in tournament fishing, the fasted growing demographic is high school ages. These kids are pretty savvy and know decent rods and reels and this series is pointing to that group and the many other entry level bass fisherman. That demographic has limited disposable income so the price point is aggressive. Dobyns knows the trend and supports high school events and college events. It’s a market segment. As for a longer crankbait rod, the Kaden series is ripe for an 805CB. Gary has said if there is enough requests he will build it.
  10. I have two Tatula 100CT’s and both have performed great. That platform will balance perfectly with the 703.
  11. You mean you’re supposed to wash rain gear? I thought that’s what the rain is for. Sheesh.
  12. I’m curious about reinstating pork as a trailer and trying. Seaguar Basix. Everything else is ho-hum. Frankly, the baits I purchased from A-Jay’s Custom Baits and Tackle have me more inspired to get them wet.
  13. I use snaps on baits where the snap was attached. This means all Luhr Jensen baits. I never add a snap to a split ring. I prefer a loop knot over a snap. I also transitioned my hard bait to the pear shaped split rings by Owner. This is effective for me.
  14. I can relate. The J95 offset round bend was all we had. The evolution of hooks is amazing. There really are no bad hooks. The Owner with cutting point is a great hook as is the Gammi EWG Superline. I started experimenting with the G-Finesse Hybrid for the slender baits and that appears to be an awesome hook. We anglers have some incredible options for sure.
  15. My VISA was compromised. No TW purchases in months. Declined charges in Orlando and Jacksonville Florida. Fraud service called and my card cancelled. The attempts were on site. That’s most likely cloning. Frustrating.
  16. If you watched Joe Thomas two weeks ago on his show Reeling In The Outdoors, he attempts to bounce, or deck flip a fish and reaches well up the blank, angles the rod to near vertical and isolated the stress to the blank blowing it up. It’s a common user error.
  17. Custom painted Aroku shads YoZuri Vibes and Drums 6th Sense Quakes BL Rattle Traps
  18. Go to the gym and lots of stretching. Fart around with tackle and do some reorganization and maintenance. Stay warm and enjoy my coffee.
  19. When your mom took you to Sears and Roebuck for new Buster Brown shoes and you watched the salesman sell a bowling ball and custom drill the finger holes. Your Dad had a Smokey The Bear cigarette snuffer on the dashboard of the 53 Chevrolet.
  20. The 6XD weighs an ounce so the 5 power in the Champion Crankbait powers is spot on. The 805CB RM was designed for the Normans DD 22 which is 7/8 ounce. The 765CB is a shorter version and will perform well with baits from 1/2 ounce to 1.25 ounce. The Elite will balance well but you will want to put a 100 mm handle on it to address the resistance of the bigger baits. I went with the 805 CB glass but I prefer the slower reaction of a composite blank. I’ve owned one Loomis CBR rod and it was nice but it broke. Probably my fault.
  21. You know your old if your dentures have cavities. Your college computer class used punch cards. You listen to Tennessee Ernie Ford albums. Your socks reach your knees. You wore an “I like Ike” pin.
  22. Kaden 714C. If you want foam handles and a split grip, something else.
  23. You know you’re old when: All your shoes secure with Velcro. You see the urologist more often than your barber. When you wore a mock coon skin hat as a kid. when your toe nails look like corn flakes. when your belt has four distinctive wear lines. when you listen to the Stones in your 66 Ford truck on an 8 track player. when the new employee picture board at your old employer looks like a high school year book page. You remember sitting at the Woolworths lunch counter drinking a fountain Coke. You shopped at the Army Navy surplus store. You went to the county fair parade and the Sheriffs Deputies rode horses and the master of ceremonies was Chuck Conners. You wore your Cub Scout uniform to school an den meeting days. Rat Fink was popular. The movie The Day The Earth Stood Still gave you night mares.
