  1. I agree completely. Example: old model poison adrenas. 6'10 med light. 6'10 med 6'10 med hvy. 7'2 med. 7'2 med hvy The 6'10 med light is the most sensitive of all these rods. Less distance and material for the vibrations to travel through. The 7'2 med hvy is the least sensitive.
  2. Its hard to talk about the color of crayfish. Even in the same body of water, there can be several species of crayfish. Even within the same species, there can be different color variations. A freshly molten crayfish will look the same as before, but cleaner. As far as color goes, go with something natural and it will match most crayfish in the lake or stream. I have seen bright blue crayfish though. There is a certain river system close to me, that has blue crayfish. Its the only system that i know of with that color. And of course the swamp crawfish are red. These are the ones that are usually served in restaurants. They can be a brown to dark red to a bright red. As long as you try to match the crayfish in your area, you should do fine.
  3. Is it just me, or do jigs get hung up way more than Texas rigs? It seems i get hung up at least three times more often with jigs as compared to TR. Thats one thing that discourages me from throwing the jig so much.
  4. What kind of line are you using? Changing lines might be enough to make a difference.
  5. I'm always been curious why people choose a rod length based on their height? To me it seems to that it should make no difference what my height is. Since my rod is up in the air, what does my height have to do with it? Even when working a jerkbait, my rod tip never hits the water. I have smacked the trolling motor quite a few times though, but not usually with the tip. For boat fishing most of my rods are 6'10" to 7'2" - my longest at 7'3" For bank/river fishing I prefer 6' to 6'6" to clear the brush and trees. I have never considered my height to determine my rod length- I'm a short Asian male. Am I missing something?
  6. Too me a shorter rod is more sensitive but a longer rod gives me better hook sets. Got to pick and choose. There's no right answer.
  7. They should interchange. I swap spools in the 50 sizes all the time. The 50, 50b 50xt all interchangeable. I dont see why the 200 would be any different. I believe the frame has not changed in those reels at all.
  8. I still throw the bomber flat A and the DT flats. I should have enough to last me for a good while. I do wish bomber would come out with some new colors in the flat A. Would like to see a sexy shad and chart.sexy shad pattern.
  9. This are available from digitaka already. Most have already sold out. My two 2500s came in in about 5 days from Japan.
  10. I use electrical tape on the spool. Sometimes I'll tape the knot also to keep it from slipping on the spool.
  11. Braid is very thin and the shallow spool should hold enough line for most of your fishing. Unless you are planning to make bomb cast, you should be ok. In saying that, i dont have any shimano 2000s spools. I do have some daiwa 2000s spools and they hold plenty of 10 lb braid for my fishing needs.
  12. I would also suggest the Bantam Mgl - its a solid built reel. Its good for medium to heavier applications. Metanium Mgl- all around good reel for many different applications. Aldebaran mgl- awesome reel for light to medium stuff. Put it on a lightweight rod and you will smile each time you pick it up. One of my combos weights in right at 8.0 oz.
  13. Daiwa tatula LT, Ballistic LT, Procyon AL Shimano Stradic FL, Vanford, Ultegra Any of these will work for you. Not sure how well the lighter reels will balance out on the 7'3" rod but shouldn't be too bad.
  14. As mentioned above - a good spinning rod with light line will work well. I usually use a 1000 or 2000 size spinning reel in a slower gear ratio. I throw #4, #5, #6 shad raps on 6 lbs test mono. I also mix in Berkley flicker shads and rapala shad dancers in similar sizes. Sometimes bass will prefer one bait over another. Shad raps are a main staple of mine in the colder months into spring.
  15. How does your friend like the tica spinning reels? I tried a few years back and they felt subpar. I quickly got rid of them. Though i still have two larger reels - Tica Pieces and Gemini. Pretty much calcatta 400 and 700 clones. They seem to be decent for the money.
  16. I have the smaller combo to yours. Exist LT FC2500S on megabass Landsat with #6 daiwa J- fluro. For 1/8 shakeyheads. Awesome combo.
  17. I have some reels from my youth as well. Took them out fishing one time and decided to stick with my modern reels. Such a huge difference in quality.
  18. DC stands for digital control. The DC reels use a microprocessor to control the cast to help eliminate backlashes. Some people love them, others not so much. DC reels are probably better for those new to baitcast reels but it's not a necessary feature.
  19. Why dont you like the chronarch mgl?
  20. Some reels will have alittle more play in the handle than others. It comes down to fit and finish. I have several aldebarans and one has more handle play than the others. Its still a great reel but when comparing side by side, its very noticeable.
  21. For finesse plastics, if going with a baitcast rod, the expride 7'2" ml+ is a good rod. I find it more sensitive than the expride 7'2" mh. Another rod to consider is then Poison adrena 6'11" m+. Its also a very sensitive rod that will work with lighter plastics. As for the reel - shimano aldebaran. It would match up nicely with those rods. The combo will be super lightweight- around 9.5 oz with line.
  22. I use it for catfishing. Its stays bright green underwater too. You'll probably have to use a leader for bass fishing. Even when catfishing, I use a clear mono leader with this line. Its great for detecting bites though.
  23. A shimano Zodias would match up to it nicely. Take your pick of lengths and action.
  24. Its surprised me too. I always thought Cudas were a quality brand. I guess anything can break.
  25. I had a pair of cudas and the scissors broke at the finger hole. The metal broke out of the clear plastic part. I couldn't fix it. Didn't even get to use it more than a few times. I was highly disappointed. Thought about contacting the company because it was suppose to have a lifetime warranty but never did. Now i just use the cheap rapala scissors from Walmart.
