Watery grave
Lost a shimano aldebaran bfs limited on a cumara rod run down the lake. Looked back to see the rod handle sinking into the depths. Circled around but too late. Never got the combo back, even after dredging the area with some big treble hooks several days later.

Still using ol'Creme worms?
The old stuff still works just as good. No one told the bass to keep up with the times. I have picked up some Creme soft plastics from the value bin at Walmart. They work fine. One of my favorites is the Mann's augertail. Still catches bass pretty good.

What is the Bass Hammer Smelly Jelly Scent?
To me, it smells about like a crawfish scent.

Amazon Reels?
Usually you get what you pay for, but if it works well then awesome.

Asian Portal Fishing
I have ordered from there several times. I have purchased from the website and Ebay store. No issues. Reels got here in about a week but I'm on the East Coast. All reels were as expected.

Gear ratio for spinnerbaits and buzzbaits
Spinnerbait - 5 or 6 gear ratio, I prefer 5 gear ratio. Buzzbaits - 7 or 8 gear ratio, I prefer a high 7 gear. Most of my spinnerbaits and buzzbaits are 1/2 oz.

Line Suggestions for Shimano Stradic ci4 1000
The choices are endless. It's pretty much whatever you want. I have the same reel, as well as various 1000 sized shimano and daiwa reels. To me, it depends on what I'm doing with the reel. I spool some up with Daiwa J braid from 6 to 10 lbs. The thing about J braid is i dont find it very sensitive because its so limp. For a moving lure, it'll be fine but something like a jig or small plastic worm, its hard for me to detect the bite. Something stiffer like power pro or nanofil will be more sensitive. I also use 6 lbs monofilament on my two small crankbait setups. I like the extra stretch and limpness. I like 6 lbs fluocarbon for me bottom contact like shaky heads, drop shots, etc. I feel the clear line helps when a fish is looking at your lure for a long time. Like i said, it depends on what you mainly do with your setup.

Brook trout fishing tips
Caught some small brookies today. The state finally stocked some brook trout into our rivers. Usually i catch browns with some rainbows mixed in.

Toolbox as Tackle Box?
I used a large plastic tool box to keep all my plastics in at one time. Worked pretty good. On the boat, i have a plastic ammo box to store some on my plastics. I use the tray for my hooks.

Favorite topwaters for spotted bass
I catch spotted bass on the same lures I catch largemouths on. I might catch a spot on one cast, then next cast a largemouth.

Late 80's Shimano Bantam Magnumlite 1550 SG Speedmaster
Its a bass reel, so any line from 10 to 20 lbs test. Whatever you want to put on it.

Durable crankbait reel
The bantams are awesome. Especially if you get the PG version from Japan. I use mine for spinnerbaits and chatterbaits. I use my Conquest's for crankbaits.

Durable crankbait reel
A new set of gears for the conquest is around $50 from shimano. That would be the best solution. The conquest is a superb cranking reel, especially with a longer handle. Thats what i use myself.

KVD Line and Lure
It does seem to make braid a little softer. I have tried reel magic and it seems the KVD line conditioner works better on fluro than reel magic. Side by side it seems the line was still very stiff and coiled with the reel magic. The KVD line was more supple. Has anyone else noticed this?

What line did I spool last year? Can't remember!
I do the same. The labels are neat and water resistant. I place the label on the handle side of my baitcast reels. On the spool on my spinning reels, incase I switch spools.

Cheap spinning rod for shad raps and inline spinners
I'm going to suggest a Daiwa Procyon. They come in various lengths and actions. They are right at the $80 retail but can usually be found for much less. I have been very pleased with mine rods. I throw spinners and spoons for trout with them. Usually 1/8 to 3/8 oz lures.

Daiwa LT Handle Wiggle...
They have slight handle play but nothing that takes away from the fishing experience. When retrieving, its not noticeable on mine. Like i said, every reel has some play- some a little more than others.

What's your budget?

Daiwa LT Handle Wiggle...
Some play is always normal, even with the thread in handles. Some do have more play than others. If its new reel, and you feel the play is excessive, then I would exchange it. Looks like you have the BPS Carbonlite 2,0 reel. I have two as well, and both of mine feel fine.

MGX2 feeling Geary
Try backing off on some of the side plate screws just a hair. Sometimes that extra pressure causes issues.

Current reel lineup
For bass fishing i have currently- 47 baitcast reels and around 20 spinning reels. Most of my baitcast reels are shimanos. Most of my spinning reels are daiwa LT series. I also have numerous reels for trout, panfish, catfish and saltwater that I'm not counting. Not counting my vintage and old reels on my display shelf, either. I have a "reel" problem here.

gear ratios
I agree. Throw a big spinnerbait or crankbait and you want a lower gear ratio. For light stuff, you'll not notice.

JDM Tackle Question
Also handles are a cheap up grade. I change the handles out on just about all my reels. I wish they made a metanium in a 5 gear ratio. I would get rid of my bantams.
