Avid x vs expride
I have both rods. The actions are different on the rods. The 6'10 is a faster action while the 7' light is more moderate. I would probably have to say the 6'10" has slightly more backbone to it. The blank on the 7' light bends a little further down. The 6'10 is a more versatile rod. I have several that I use for shakey heads, neds, drop shots, smaller jerkbaits, blade baits, smaller topwaters. I primarily use the 7' light for smaller shad raps and other small crankbaits due to the moderate action.

A great spinning rod-reel combo
The procyon is a good rod in its price range. You can often find them for much cheaper online. They are a bargain at half price, which is what you can find them for if you look around. I have several in my lineup and they pair up nicely with the cheaper Daiwa LT reels.

Shimano Expride Rod Size and Availability?
The 6'10 med will be great for topwaters and crankbaits. It will not be as effective for soft plastics due to the moderate action.

4 lb. mono suggestions for my panfish reels?
Sunline super natural is a good line. I also use daiwa J-braid as my light line braid.

Shimano Intenza power/action ratings
I'm not sure about the action of the spinning rods but the Intenza casting rods seem to fish a little heavier than their ratings. I have the 7'1mh and 7'2mh. To me both are slightly heavier fishing than my other shimano rods of the same rating.

Is this a good setup for trout/freshwater fishing?
Your combo should work fine. I use several of the Regal reels myself for trout. I have several 1000 and 2000 size. These reels are surprisingly good for the little money the cost. The light action rod will be more versatile too. You be able the fish more techniques with the light action as oppose to an ultralight - such as float fishing for trout. I just cant get a good hookset on a float rig with an ultralight rod. I have my Regals paired up with 7' light action Daiwa procyon rods. These are my pond trout fishing combos. Also use them for crappies too.

Setup for bobber fishing for cats
Nothing wrong with an ugly stik. They are durable.

Discouraged
I would suggest asking a local fisherman for advice. There are usually fellow anglers that dont mind showing you how to do something. Thats the best way to learn. A few months ago i was asked by a couple at one of the trout ponds i fish to help them out. They were very inexperienced and i rigged them up and showed them how to bait up and cast. They were able to catch a few trout that day. Most of us dont mind helping. Don't be afraid to ask.

Setup for bobber fishing for cats
Just like bass rods, there are different actions with inshore rods. I just suggested inshore rods because many are designed for throwing live bait to big fish. Also if you use a slip float the bigger guides dont catch the bobber stop as much. Most bass rods have gone to smaller guides. I also prefer a spinning setup for float catfishing just because alot of times I'm really close to the cover and spinning is just easier to lob it out there.

Help Deciding on a Reel
Really suck when a high dollar combo decides to go swimming with the fishes. I feel your pain. But at least you get to buy a new combo.

Setup for bobber fishing for cats
I would suggest a Daiwa BG or Emcast. Or any 4000 size reel. I would use a inshore rod, if i were you. The guides are more sturdy. The lighter the rod the more fun it'll be. Not all fish are going to be 20 pounders. My two catfish float rods consists of two older Berkley med hvy spinning rods and two older quantum qss4w reels. 30 lbs braid with a slip float works well. I have caught many channels and blues on these two rods. This year I'm going to lighten up my bottom rig rods to make it more fun.

Shimano Expride Rod Size and Availability?
What do you plan to use the rod for? I dont have any experience with the 6'6" model, thats why i ask. The 6'10 med is a excellent rod and worth the wait, depending on your technique.

Stock quality or higher replacement handle for Daiwa Tatula?
Check the tackle trap. They have lots of daiwa handles. They are a daiwa parts dealer.

Does anyone swap reels between rods?
I usually dont do it to save money. I'll do it the see how a different setup might work together. Sometimes they feel great, sometimes not so good. But you dont know until you try.

Anyone else "baby" their equipment?
I put covers on my reels when traveling. Covers on the rods in the rod box. I dont throw my stuff around on the boat. I dont take my high end equipment bank/river fishing. But I do fish my stuff hard and maintain them as needed. I try to keep them in good shape, so if I need to sell it, it'll hold more of its value.

Show off your Stuff
Whoa, that's a horrifying site.

What is the best rig for cat fishing?
Alot of people forget about using a float. I use slip floats and fish three to six feet down, depending on the depth. I'll usually have at least two rods rigged with floats on them. I use 30 lb braid as a main line. I'll cast these to laydowns and rocky areas. To keep it weedless, I'll use a weedless hook or a small trout worm texas rigged over the bait. 90% of the time, it'll come through cover with no issues. I've caught channels, blues and flatheads this way.

Best lure for Mostly every fish?
Agreed. I have caught everything on a white marabou jig.

Shimano Stardic Ci 4 noise
Also check to make sure it's not your line. Dirty line can also make a grinding noise when retrieving.
-
Adrena 7’3 MH or 7’2 H
You already have them, why not keep them both. You have enough techniques there to use both rods. I have both those rods and enjoy them both. They are pretty versatile and can interchange on certain techniques.

Anybody use those yellow spotted lizard lures?
I dont know if bass would eat these guys. The yellow spots are a warning that they are poisonous. They are suppose to have a bad taste to a predator. But they do make lures that match the color, so someone is using them.

shimano expride action
The 6'10 is a moderate fast. Its ideal for jerkbaits and topwaters. Maybe smaller squarebills also.

Getting Line Twist Out
Usually i just walk the line out in my yard then go and reel it back with a little bit of tension at the reel. About three times and just about all of my twist is out. I'll usually do this after a fishing trip or before. Also use line conditioner- it helps greatly. On the water, I'll rotate or spin my lure clockwise until i feel it has compensated for my line twist, then quickly cast it out to untwist the whole length of line. Granted i only have to untwist line on my spinning reels. Rarely do i ever have to untwist my baitcast reels. Somethings i have noticed. Braid can handle line twist much better. Flurocarbon is the worst. Line conditioner really helps. And lastly. It seems higher end spinning reels result in less line twist. Probably better bearings in the line roller.

Any KastKing Zephyr BFS, Likers or Haters?
I had one but i sold it. Nothing wrong with the reel itself. I just don't BFS that much, but i wanted to try out the reel. When i first got it, it was loud on the cast so i have to oil the bearings, which made it better. I also changed out the handle to a CF handle with daiwa I knobs. That was much improved over the stock foam knobs. The stock knobs had a lot of side to side play. I spooled the reel up with 8lb daiwa j braid x8. I always fill my spools up with line. Less line means the spool has to rotate that much more to get the same distance on the cast. I dont get why people do that. Mounted the reel on a 6'8 shimano cumara med action rod. The rod fishes much lighter than its rated for. I only threw a small 1/8 oz shakyhead and worm on it. No issues casting that lure. I didn't try to go lower - I'll just use spinning for that. Only caught a few small bass on it. For the price, its a decent preforming reel. A few changes and it can be a better reel. I will say, i was impressed by the looks of it. The glossy black and orange gold highlights really set it off. Like i said, i only wanted to test it out. So after fishing it some, i sold it for pretty much what i paid for it. I think its a great way to test BFS fishing.

Ideal jig rod length
There is no correct answer. Everyone likes something different. I prefer 7'2", but thats just because many rods come in that length. And i feel i can get a decent hookset close in or further out with that length.
