  1. Same here. I like the T knobs, especially in situations where I need to wrench a fish in.
  2. Texas pete hotter hot sauce. Tabasco. Both have their places.

I will emphasize super sharp hooks. Alot of times the bass will hit on the pause. Sometimes they slam it. Sometimes they just come and nip at it. With super sharp hooks, they will get hooked even if they just nip at it. I check my hooks on each jerkbait before i tie it on. I will sharpen any hook that i dont think is going to stick well.
  4. I agree. I hardly ever have any issues with my shimano reels. Been a shimano fan since the late 1980's. Been fishing them since then. Most issues are usually an easy fix or just lube related.
  5. Nice. Combo. I don't have a steez rod but I'm a fan of the exist LT. Light and smooth. I almost like it more than my stellas.
  6. Just about any shimano knobs will fit it. Chose whatever style you like and order straight from shimano. Just be sure to get the matching knob cap. I personally really like the original style that came on those reels. I have replaced many other shimano knobs with that certain small septon knob. I'm not a fan of the large fatter knobs nor the newer flat style ones. Or you can just order a new handle. I do find those older handles a bit short. I have replaced most of my shimano reels with at least 90mm carbon fiber handles.
  7. Probably the Aldebaran 50 mgl. Made of magnesium and more finesse oriented.
  8. I usually put 90mm or longer on all my reels.
  9. Probably just heavily greased. Also try loosening the cast control knob not the drag if you want a more free spool.
  10. Thats about the same size as most of my trout. I just use three Daiwa presso rods with daiwa 750 size reels. 6' ultralight. 4#test for spinners. 6' ultralight. 4#test for small jerkbaits. 6'6" ultralight 6#test for powerbait. I dont use expensive tackle for river/creek fishing because they usually get pretty abused- dunked, sit on sand and rocks, powerbait crud. I would hate to scratch up an expensive combo.
  11. How big are the trout you are fishing for? What kind of waters are you fishing? For example: my trout around here are fairly small, as are most of my rivers and creeks. I use 6' ultralight rods because my fish are tiny and creeks are very narrow with overhanging trees.
  12. I have the PA 6'11 med+, 7'3 mh, 7'2 h. I dont have any NRX's but i have two Conquest 843, 844. In my hands the PA's are just as sensitive if not slightly more than the Conquests. That could just be me though. Because everybody seems to have a different experience when it comes to rod sensitivity. I have shimano magnesium framed reels on all the rods with P-line tactical as the line.
  13. I've order quite a bit from over seas and had never had to pay any import taxes. Guess I've been lucky.
  14. I do like shimano's new grip material. Its comfortable and grippy. What I dont like is that they didn't cover the entire grip with the material. They left a strip of foam at the top and bottom of the handle grip. It would have been just as easy for them to do the entire grip with the new material. I dont like foam grips, so I had to cover the top foam strip next to the reel with some tape.
  15. That's sweet looking
  16. I'm not sure about the spinning version but i have three of the baitcast rods. They are decent rods for the money, especially if you catch them on sale. I do like the grip material on the handles. I know its a little different on the spinning rods, so not sure how it will feel. It seems they only put a small little strip on the spinning rod handle and its not even in a good area to hold.
  17. I want a 1000 or 2000 size also. Might even try the 500 size for ultralight. I dont think the smaller sizes are available yet. I'm not aware of any place having them yet.
  18. Darn. Knowing all these lures makes me feel old. And I'm not even that old. Yet, I have owned on used most of these in some form or color at one time.
  19. I throw mine year round. They still catch fish even when the water is warm.
  20. If you've never held the FL, you may be pleasantly surprised by how smooth they are. Depending on the technique, the aluminum frame will absorb much of the vibrations making the reel feel very smooth. Not so true with CI4+ frames. They allow more vibrations to be transmitted to the hand. There for, better for more finesse applications.
  21. Berkley lighting rod 6' med spinning. Paired it with a shimano mark I spinning reel with the fightin star. Berkley trilene XL 4 lbs. I was a young teenager and that was my first decent combo i bought with my own hard earned money. Worked a summer job to help fund my fishing needs. Back then they ran ads in Bassmasters magazine for the Lighting rod, so i had to get one. Had it for many years until my cousin stepped on it.
  22. First off, what rod did you break? If you're happy with that rod then just get the same rod to replace it. Are you looking to up grade? Price on the new rod? Is the rod for a different purpose or you still want an ultra light?
  23. Sounds like awesome work.
  24. Just make sure you get a good soft monofilament line. I use Trilene XL myself for most of my spinning reel monofilament needs. It's cheap and does a decent job. It is smooth and cast well. I don't like using fluorocarbon on spinning reels. I find it way to stiff. Most of my spinning reels are spooled with braid or superline of some kind. Take your pick- most are pretty decent but some are better than others. The 8 strand braids will be smoother and cast better.
