  1. See if you can take away a shim from under the spool. If you can it should help with the line bunching up at the bottom. Or you could just use braid for senkos. That would solve the line bunching problem.

    Baby red spotted newt.

I like to throw a zoom lizard in watermelon red flake. In the water it looks a lot like a red stopped newt, which is a popular salamander in our lakes and ponds on the eastern coast.
  5. Both are good reels. I've had both. The ultegra is made of graphite. The regular stradic is aluminum. The stradic CI4+ is carbon. Take your pick. In my opinion, they are all decent reels. If money is an issue, you can get the ultegra or nasci. If the sky is the limit then go for the stradic CI4+. Also I like the CI4+ for bottom contact like shaky heads, drop shops, neds. The lighter weight makes it more sensitive. The prefer the Stradic FL for moving baits like small crankbaits, blade baits, jerkbaits. The aluminum absorbs the vibrations and makes it feel smoother.
  6. Handle upgrade is usually the first upgrade I'll do to my reels. I like a longer handle, especially on my cranking and spinnerbait reels. I usually put daiwa cork I shape knobs on my reels. I like the way they feel.
  7. I had several of the 700 size for awhile. Sold them, but wouldn't mind picking up another one again. Honestly, I just think they look cool. Nice classic black and gold styling. I still have two of the BG10 in my lineup. I like these older daiwa reels.
  8. I'm going to bet that since it's a cheap reel, there is probably a pinch area where you pinch or squeeze down to release a clip to pull the front piece off.
  9. I do have a Sedona 500, current model, that does get harder to retrieve from time to time. Not sure, but I think it may have something to do with the friction ring. Sometimes it starts out harder to reel, then lightens up during the retrieve. I don't recall having this issue with my older shimano reels. I have two Sahara 500 that were smooth from day one.
  10. Use mine for T-rigs as well. Very nice rod.
  11. All of our public boat ramps and public water access areas are closed. That means no fishing unless you know someone on the lake with a ramp or property on long the water
  12. I had to strip some line off one of my bantams the other day. I like a full spool but I must have over filled this one. After I stripped off about 15' the reel was much more manageable.
  13. Keep the old reel on the shelf for memories. Buy a new reel to use. Either a cheap shimano or cheap daiwa LT reel would be fine. I picked up some cheap daiwa revros LT, legalis LT and regal LT for my kids to use. If they get scratched and dirty- not an issue. That way I can keep my nicer reels clean and scratch free.
  14. Sounds like the spool is over filled to me. Or the leader knot is not going through the guides smoothly.
  15. I don't see where that's going to be an issue. You can always speed up or slow down your retrieve speed. Usually with jerkbaits, all they reel is doing is picking up the slack line anyway. On my jerkbait setups, I usually run around a 7:1 or so gear ratio reel, just to pick up line alittle faster. Not sure what my IPT are though.
  16. I ran out of breath reading your one sentence paragraph. On the bright side, glad you have a passion for the sport of fishing. There are many decent rods out there in the $100 price range. You will just have to go and hold them to see which ones you like and is comfortable in your hand.
  17. Nope. They don't seem to have it either. I guess whatever company that makes them must have went out of business or stopped making them.
  18. Does anyone know where I can find some of these rattles? Jann's netcraft use to sell them. They dont seem to carry them anymore. These clip on to the hook of a jig or spinnerbait.
  19. I'll be honest, I have both the Conquest 100 and Bantam mgl PG. There isn't any difference in smoothness. Both are great reels for cranking
  20. My vote would be the bantam mgl PG. The solid frame and 5.5 gears would make short work of any crankbait. It's a very smooth reel and you won't get that hollow retrieve feel.
  21. Don't forget the new Lews custom lite SLP. I haven't tried it yet, but its around 4.9 oz.
  22. I saw them at academy last week and while decent, I feel like the daiwa aird x is a better buy. For some reason I have never been too impressed with shimano rods that were priced under $100. They seem to be lacking. I think daiwa makes a better rod under the $100 price point.
  23. I'd like to see all those reels mounted on their partner rods. And details about what they are used for. I plan on getting two to add to my arsenal.
  24. Looks like a small army ready to go into battle.
