  1. I've never fished Cooley, but being a small lake I'm sure the bass gets lots of pressure. They've probably seen every lure known to bass kind. Try something different from everyone else. I fish Bowen alot and it gets tons of pressure but I still manage to catch them by throwing something different. Just give the fish they dont see all the time.
  2. Broke these guys in today. Fished them hard in the rain. Caught largemouth, spotted bass and channel cats with them on their maiden voyage. 22 Exist 2000S-P/ BLX 6'10 light/ #4 daiwa J fluro 22 Stella 2000C/ Adrena 6'10 ul/ #4 daiwa J fluro
  3. I caught a boot before too. I thought it was just something that happened on Looney Tunes.
  4. I tried spotted bass for the first time about two week ago. I will say, not too bad. Slightly better flavor rhan largemouth. My local like is full or 12" to 15" spotted bass. So i decided to keep a few to try. I usually catch and release, unless i accidentally gut hook a bass. Then it comes home with me. I still much prefer catfish, crappie, white perch to the taste of bass though.
  5. How was the rod packaged coming from Amazon? I've bought rods from Amazon and they were pretty much just thrown into a empty cheap box- no padding or protection whatsoever. I've had to return several rods due to arriving broken. It could be the rod got damaged in the shipping.
  6. I noticed the same thing yesterday. The bluegills and redbreast were already on the beds. I thought it was a bit early too. Spring seems to have accelerate this year.
  7. I've had good luck with Daiwa J-Flouro and Invizx in the 4 and 6 lbs range. Both are very similar.
  8. ^^^^ What he said. "S" stands for shallow spool in the spinning reel world.
  9. I personally like the darker color it goes to some times.
  10. Go to the digitaka site and check for messages there. Thats usually where they will post shipping info. I usually dont get emails about shipping.
  11. I'm not for certain but I think the Regal LT and Fuego LT spools are interchangeable. I haven't tried it myself because I dont have a Fuego LT. Both these reels have the smaller bearing supported spools. The tatula LT and Ballistic LT have larger bearings on the spool support. Victor does a great job comparing reels and user reviews.
  12. The spool for the US version is deeper and not available in Japan, making it a USDM version only.
  13. The Fuego does not share the same spool as Exceler. Exceler and Legalis share the same spool- no bearing on the spool support. The Fuego and Regal both have bearing supported spools. The Regal LT is a great buy if you don't mind a little extra weight.
  14. I just like the way they looks and feel. I hate how the shimano knobs get gummy after awhile.
  15. I love the daiwa cork style I knobs. Have them on just about all my reels.
  16. The bearings may also be over oiled. None of my new shimanos free spool well. Should free up after a few uses.
  17. USDM spool, JDM spool, Shallow edition spool. The shallow spool in the USDM metanium.
  18. Newest addition to the Metanium family: shallow edition. Slightly lighter in color than it's older sibling.
  19. Ouch. Hate it when this kind of stuff happens.
  20. Aesthetics are very important. I mean you wouldn't buy an ugly or plain vehicle. You wouldn't date a plain or ugly woman. Why buy a plain or ugly rod or reel if you had a choice. Too me, Daiwa and megabass make some of the most attractive gear. The color combinations just look sweet.
  21. According to tactical bassin the rod action is the same on the new model. Shimano just listed it as it should had been.
  22. It should be quite. Probably bad bearing like you said. A repair shop might be able to fix it for you.
  23. The Conquest will feel much better than the Calcutta. The Conquest is smoother and will cast better. The Calcutta is just a work horse.
  24. That should be a fun rod for catfishing. I'm not sure how whisker seekers rate their rods, but it should be ideal for most channel cats and smaller blues. Over the years i have moved to mainly med action rods for most of my catfishing. My local lakes mostly have channel cats and a med action makes it more enjoyable. I still have heavy action rods that i take out sometimes to other lakes. Sometimes I'll even pull out my ultralight rods to do some catfishing. Even a two pound catfish is a good battle on an ultralight.
  25. 6'10" med light - small topwaters, small jerkbaits, blade baits, 1/8 shakey head, drop shot. 7' med - TR senkos, TR's, smaller paddle tail swimbaits. Both rods are pretty versatile.
