  1. I remember fishing all day tournaments with no breaks. I would never stop until the end. Now, 4-6 hours is the best I can do while bass fishing. I still fish continuosly through the whole time. If you’re line ain’t in the water you aint catching any for sure! I do change baits and locations when they stop biting. My PB was caught fishing on a morning when it was the ONLY BITE I GOT. That still keeps me motivated to this day .
  2. Caught this nice shellcracker ( red ear ) and some of his buddies, fishing beds with worms. Also got a bonus bass which was fun on the ultralight combo...
  3. Had a rough last couple of trips. Got a total of 10 fish. Yesterday was my worst day fishing the home lake in many years. Last saturdays trip wasnt much better. Yesterday found me on the water before sun-up. Tried a frog for the first hour or so . 3 blow ups but couldn’t hook up. Next I went to a chatterbait( new in my arsenal). Nothing. Then I switched to a large shiner swimbait. Nothing. Then , a small shiner swimbait. Nothing. I finally caught this skinny fish on a new bait to me: A Lunkerhunt swim Bento. Caught a smaller fish on a culprit worm. Tried the big bites craw with no success. Lost the last 3 fish somehow that bit on a Bruiser curly tail worm. It was hot and the fish just werent biting at any point all morning. I did catch 1 on a frog the night before. Im about ready to go to live bait for awhile...
  4. Not yet in Florida. I think it was 95 here yesterday. Bass Fishing is worse here in sept. than any other time of year imo.
  5. The two tunes are similar to me. Have you ever heard of Adam Steffey? And Ricky Skaggs of course. Was also listening to Sierra Hull yesterday. Bill’s probably the GOAT, but I’m not near as fond of his singing. So Im more of a Stanley brothers fan because of their mountain style of singing/picking. You just described my dad . I tell people all the time, if I could just be half of the man he was...
  6. That sounds like “ My last day on earth” by Bill Monroe. I play a banjo. My oldest son plays guitar, banjo, mandolin , bass , and ukulele.
  7. Im kind of the opposite. Im very comfortable with spinning. I can use a baitcaster just as well, and have 2 dedicated combos that are baitcasters .The one thing I hate about baitcasters though is setting the hook. Holding the rod with your hand on the reel and rod has always seemed unnatural to me.
  8. Hoping for the best. That would be a real blessing if it doesn’t. Dont even want to get started about my roof.?
  9. Doesn’t sound like he was much of a friend anyway...
  10. My home lake sounds a little clearer than yours, but its not as clear in the winter when all the weeds die back. I dont see much difference in color selection either way. My best color is watermelon seed, followed closely by watermelon red. Ive probably caught more on these two than all the others combined. And I fish with them A LOT.
  11. Any T rigged plastic, but especially senkos or flukes. Spinnerbaits
  12. @Catt , does your roof leak?
  13. So your birthday is 9-16-60? Mine is 9-19-60. Did we have this discussion once before? Anyway, Happy birthday! Hard to believe...60 !!
  14. I agree with Sam’s assessment. I fish most clear to stained waters, but occasionally fish very stained or what I call murky waters. His color selection is very close to how I fish each example of water clarity. One thing I would add is bait selection is also influenced by how much light there is. I do well with june bug or black grape in clear to stained waters also IF fishing low light condions, esp. dusk for some reason. In clear to stained I use watermelon colors, but in sunnier conditions, watermelon red. In cloudier days, watermelon seed. I dont have much murky water near me, but black/blue and rootbeer seem to work best there. Speaking only of soft plastics, which are my go-tos. I also would say Ive caught fish in clear and stained waters on a much wider color scale than in deeply stained or murky waters...
  15. How are your other dogs taking to her?
  16. I dont know about all this^^^^^ I just use a 12 volt deep cycle battery with my 40 pt and it works fine. But that’s in my JBoat. Probably weighs around 50 pounds.
  17. This one really takes me back...
  18. This guy was pretty good too...
  19. As a last resort there’s a trout farm I took my grandkids to that’s between Cherokee and Bryson city off 19 at the little community of Ela. Take coopers creek rd all the way to the end. It wasnt much if a challenge but fun for the G-kids to catch trout. ( And great eating too)?
  20. Sorry about that . Is it fixable ? My trolling motor died today so I can relate a little bit...
  21. Ive had a poor big fish year - 4.10 being my biggest. If I remember correctly, I caught 4 other fish that were around 4, incuding 3 in 30 minutes. 2 were 20 inch and 1 was 21 1/2. ( scale was broke) Ive had a good numbers year. Yesterday was my worst trip, only caught 6-7. No size again. Summertime blues!
  22. Looks like your boat survived ?
  23. Found some nice bream beds while I was bass fishing yesterday. I had just made it down to the beds today and got set up- caught 5 in about 15 minutes and boom ! Here comes an unexpected T-storm! ? Made it home just as the rain started.
