  1. That's the political influence I'm talking about... :-? And that site isn't the only one. For example, Rolling Stone calls his performance "...that legendary version of "The Star-Spangled Banner," which Hendrix pitch-bent from patriotic warhorse into a defiant proclamation"
  2. my brother has injured all components of his knees and studied athletic training for a period of time and he says that if you can't straighten or bend the whole way it is probably damaged meniscus. Just wait for the MRI results. He had an injury that tore his ACL partially and they didn't diagnose it correctly and during rehab it tore completely and really messed up his knee. He had to get surgery and now his knee clicks when he walks with pretty much every step.
  3. Sure, that's the inspiration for the musical aspect, but it still had political motivation. link
  4. Yup, redbreasts. You can tell by the extended tab on the gill plate. Green sunfish look similar but don't have that extended tab. They are some of the most beautiful fish you can catch.
  5. AMEN!!!!! 8-) I agree normally ..... However, Game 1, with the Backstreet Boys ... that was a disgrace. They tried to put their own spin on it and even changed the wording around a bit. That's a big no no in my book. Just sing the thing like it was intended. It's already PERFECT. No need to put your own spin on it. Taylor Swift nailed it though last night!!!!!! I'm sure that's how some people look at Jimi Hedrix's spin on the star spangled banner......But I think it's pretty cool. Changing the words around is a little different though... :-X As far as I know, Jimi Hendrix' version of the SSB was supposed to be defiant.
  6. Thanks, LBH, that helps a lot. I also read something about the fins being different between Pike and Pickerel. Pike typically have markings on the fins whereas pickerel fins are solid. I did notice the mandibular pores because I remember seeing them and thinking that it was similar to a smallmouth with the dots on the lower jaw. I didn't count them though because I didn't know their were different amounts between pike and picks.
  7. So far, I was right. JMU wins on the last play of the game for the second week in a row (see video of the previous amazing comeback ), preserving their #1 rank in the FCS. JMU marched down the field into the redzone down 19-14 led by rushes from QB Rodney Landers (Walter Payton frontrunner). They were stopped in the red zone by penalties and botched plays and settled for a field goal to make it 19-17 with about 3 minutes left. They then stopped Villanova, regained the ball with about a minute left to play. They marched down the field, used their last TO at about 40 seconds left. Continued marching down the field to about the 30 yd line where they lined up to spike the ball to stop the clock and attempt a field goal. Not everyone was set though and they were backed up by an illegal procedure penalty, pushing them out of comfortable field goal range. They went for a hail mary, and this is what happened. Just cause it ain't FBS doesn't mean it ain't exciting!
  8. I don't see why the Sonora wouldn't work, but if I had a nice rod, I wouldn't want to settle on a reel just to have the colors match.
  9. come on fellas, I know more people own some of these rods and have something to say about them
  10. ha! that's funny, I caught this fish on the same rod and same bait (but different color)
  11. If they are half as good as their rods I would buy 'em

It was caught in the North River which combines with the South River to create the SF of the Shenandoah.

yeah, I was kind of fumbling around when I was landing and photographing it because I was worried about getting bit. Luckily I had some pliers. I did end up dropping it because when I grabbed it, it started flailing around and it almost got its teeth back to my arm. They can really get a lot of leverage with their long bodies.
  14. I've never flipped or pitched with a rod shorter than my 7'6" but I can see how longer would be better, longer range and you can also take up a lot more line on the hookset.
  15. I have had times while fishing a small shallow river when I would fish the smallie spots and get nothing. No bites in the deeper water, nothing in the rocks, and nothing in the current. Then I just started fishing shade with sandy bottoms and timber and ended up catching a ton. That has happened several times on that river, the smallmouth just switch to largemouth spots for some reason.
  16. Went out to my normal bass spot in Bridgewater, VA tonight. The area is usually filled with grass to the surface of the water so I normally use texas rigs and topwaters. Well I got there and lots of the weeds have died and are much more sparse. I ended up fishing a shallow crank, walking bait, swimbaits, ika, and a fluke. Got a bass on the first cast with the paddletail (about 3lbs) run over the dying weeds. Then I went without a fish for a while, switching back and forth between baits. I decided to make one last cast to an area down river and my line got hung over a small branch. I reeled a little bit and then I felt a hit and set the hook, with the line still hanging over the tree branch. I ended up fighting the fish over the branch and eventually the weight of the fish pulled the line free. When I was fighting it I realized it wasn't a bass, it was shaking more than it was swimming. Ended up being my first PIKE! I wasn't sure if it was a big pickerel or a pike but some guys in the "Other Fish" section told me it was a pike. Very cool. It was about 2ft long and I would say 4-5 lbs.
  17. hard to tell from that picture but i think it is a walleye. I have caught one on the MD side of Great Falls before. PHEW
  18. Thanks fellas, that's what I thought but having no experience with either I just wanted to be sure. I didn't even know my water had them!
  19. I need some help identifying this fish. I have never caught either pike or pickeral before so I don't know which this is. How can you tell the difference?
  20. Yeah, I've seen it too. I want to call the VDGIF on them but I know they have limited resources and it is likely that nothing will be done. I could call the police but I doubt they would want to spend time busting people catching fish when there are other more dangerous crimes going on.
  21. I had not heard of one being caught above the fall line, though. The water there doesn't have areas with nearly as low oxygen like they are inhabiting in the tidal potomac.
  22. At Greatfalls!?!?! Have they been discovered above the fall line before this? You might want to let the VDGIF know.
  23. I agree, I think the black on black with the silver citica would look awesome. But then again, same with the G blank which also has the foam handle.... Thanks for the input so far guys, keep it coming!

Doesn't everyone getting a vaccine fuel the mutation into new strains?
  25. Dan: replied to bassdocktor's topic in Everything Else
Who gets pneumonia?!?! I mean, really? I'm not paying to be vaccinated for something I have never had a problem with
