I agree with Bassnajr, small paddle tailed swimbaits work great in thick weeds like that. No, you aren't only limited to soft plastics on the surface, you could also try a very heavy jig to punch down through it. Make sure you have the equipment (stiff rod and braided line) if you want to try that.

2.5? I have never used a bait that small for bass, even smallmouth. I use 4" paddletails for both though. I don't know if Bass Magic makes 4" but I like Reaction Strike's Fathead Juniors and they come in a bunch of sizes.

I agree with your point but would like to point out that App State is no longer the best team in Div 1AA. That would go to the Dukes of my own JMU I didn't know the season was over and JMU won the championship? Did you see the JMU/AppState game? Unbelievable 2nd half comeback ;D In all seriousness though, you're right. I just meant that they are no longer the top team to beat because they lost and are not ranked #1 anymore...

I have camped at two places along the river, once outside of Luray near the Shenandoah River Outfitters and a few times at Shenandoah River State Park in Bentonville. The camping outside of Luray is very basic. From what I understand it is a pretty popular party area for younger people on the weekends. For the most part, the water is flat and slow, which is better for Largemouth and carp than smallmouth. The Shenandoah River State Park ("Andy Guest" State Park) in Bentonville has very nice facilities (they also have a site fee). They have individual campsites that are gravel areas where you can pitch tents. They have an outhouse type bathroom and lots of grills/gazebos. The river in that area is MUCH rockier and thus better for smallmouth. The best way to fish it is by wading which can be hard because of the large and sharp bedrock. It makes great smallmouth hiding places but it also makes wading much slower and easier to fall. I've fished many other places on the South Fork but most of them are pretty far South down near Harrisonburg.

^ yeah but it's not like it was the Cowboys fault that he wasn't getting the ball. That was mostly attributable to the 'Skins' secondary, specifically in the first half.
