  1. I dream about fishing quite often, more so this past winter when I was wanting to fish but couldn't. I've never set a hook in my sleep though! ;D

I think we're jumping from regulating hunting to taking away gun rights too quickly. One doesn't automatically lead to the other, it's a little paranoid.
  3. congrats dude, that's awesome. I would love to catch a musky sometime.

I guess I just don't understand how banning assault rifles from hunting is "anti-firearm." I mean, it's not like this guy said people shouldn't be allowed to own them, right?

Are there a lot of people that hunt with assault rifles? That doesn't seem right to me. As others have said, there is a difference in regulating hunting and regulating gun ownership. They make fishing regulations to keep anglers from having too much of an advantage over fish (ie: regulations limiting number of lines, types of hooks, net rules, etc..) why should it be different for hunting? If you are that bad at aiming, I suggest you go to the range instead of buying an automatic weapon... :-/
  6. Welcome!
  7. Personally, I've never used braid in a rocky river, but from the way I've seen some braid fray, I wouldn't think I would even want to use it in sharp rocks much less zebra mussels--of course there's no harm in trying.
  8. Nice carp, TF. When I fish with corn I usually use pretty much the same setup as you described.
  9. It's a good point, but logistically it doesn't make sense. You'd have to buy and monitor a urine test for each person on welfare? So you'd have to put up the money for the actual testing kit, send an employee to monitor the welfare recipient taking the test and then analyze each test...In the end, I don't think it would end up saving any money. PS, I think this idea was suggested by David Duke in the past :-/

There's already a thread about this exact thing..... http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1175100952
  11. yeah, I've seen that a few times, but it really is amazing that you only need those two letters to decipher a word. The brain really does a lot more stuff than you would think. It's like a computer that is hundreds of times faster than any computer that exists.
  12. I've seen them a lot but they looked more like trolling baits for walleye than bass baits. I'm sure you could catch bass on it, but I didn't think it looked like something I needed. Especially since I usually don't really fish water that is very deep.
  13. I don't fish ikas anymore, I fish West Coast Custom Tackle's Western Hula Sticks because I think they are an advancement on the ika design-- but I fish them "backwards." honestly, I haven't even really tried them rigged forwards and I don't really feel the need to.
  14. Personally, I would rather tune a cheap bait instead of buying a LC for 3-4 times as much. That being said, I do have to admit that the Pointers are great. Other than that though, I think people buy them because they expect more expensive baits to be better, just like many other types of products.
  15. I remember from the music thread that there are a lot of bluegrass fans on here so I wanted to see what anyone thinks of Old Crow Medicine Show. I am not really a huge bluegrass fan or anything, but I really enjoy them. I guess they are kind of a pop bluegrass type of band. They have some talented musicians and a singer with a nasal but very enjoyable voice. Also, as I am learning to play harmonica, I have to say their harmonica player has some skill, especially in their more recent albums. My favorite songs of theirs are: Big Time in the Jungle Wagon Wheel (reworking of an unrecorded Bob Dylan song from what I hear) My Good Gal Tear It Down Down Home Girl Don't Ride That Horse Minglewood Blues Down South Blues and of course, James River Blues If you want to buy their CDs, I would recommend Big Iron World, O.C.M.S., and Eutaw in that order.
  16. lol at the PS

I know what you mean, Avid. I like to make use of all the lures I've spent so much money on so it's hard when you end up going to the senko so quickly. It makes it hard to use other techniques and presentations.
  18. I agree, google earth is a great way to find fish. You can also use google maps if you don't want to get the Google earth program. If you look up your location on google maps, turn on the "Satellite" or "Hybrid" map options to see geography and/or roads.

That's a nice football shaped bass, congrats on breaking the slump.

hehe, that's a pretty good one.
  21. I agree with everyone else who has recommended a texas rig. One hook (buried in plastic so it's not a big threat to passersby), easy to cast, not a difficult technique, and it will catch fish. Also, if he can set hooks well, a t-rig is probably one of the better hookup:catch ratios out there.
  22. ahaha, ain't that the truth, muddy. As a full time college student, I feel lucky to have my Pflueger Medalist. It is really my ONLY setup I have that is of any quality. You guys are all talking about wanting new rods and reels and whatnot but for people like me, I'd like to be able to get just a second quality rig, not a 5th or 6th!!!! :'(
  23. there were more than 300 greeks there.
  24. Congratulations! That's quite an accomplishment. What field?
  25. Ok, we've had plenty of threads asking about everyone's favorite tackle brands, but I just wanted to see if anyone had LEAST favorite brands. One of mine is probably Bomber. Their stuff doesn't seem to run straight for me and it just feels very cheap. Another is some of the Strike King cranks for the same reasons.
