I thought it was supposed to be on the MLB channel. The FiOS guide even said that was what was supposed to be on but there was a Mets game playing instead...ugh

Top 10 Low Pass Flyby's of All Time
That was pretty d**n oool. It would be awesome in HD on a big screen TV. I've seen something like #1 before...with the water vapor making an haze around the plane.

Another Deep Cranking question..
I just started using Seaguar Invizx 12lb. It has the same diameter as 8lb Trilene 100% (.011). I like it so far but I haven't used it enough to form a solid opinion.

nationals game???
what channel did you watch it on? I couldn't find it! 14 Ks in 7 innings is pretty freaking impressive. Apparently a town in Virginia wants to honor them by renaming their town: http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20100607&content_id=10919306&vkey=news_was&fext=.jsp&c_id=was&partnerId=rss_was I played baseball against the school in that town in high school.

New to braid; need some help
Doesn't that waste line still? I use about two or three casts worth of line for a season and then reverse it for the next season. Backing takes up the rest of the room on the spool.

I thought the problem was that people aren't jumping to aid in this crisis as they did with Katrina?

I would think the difference is that the aforementioned disasters are more visual and they more directly impacted people in significant ways. Bodies floating on Bourbon St. is a stronger image than an oil slick off an impersonal coastline. Plus, those other disasters were sudden and caused a greater body count.

New to braid; need some help
Tie the braid to the backing, reel on the braid. Pull out a little more than a full cast worth of the braid, then put on a piece of tape to stop backlashes. So the tape will go on the braid, not the backing.

New to braid; need some help
Why use backing at all ? Tie your braid to the spool using an arbor knot and use tape to keep your braid from slipping. If you don't use backing are you completely filling your spool with braid?

Yeah, I'm curious how this got so completely shifted to hurricanes.

New to braid; need some help
If you use backing, tie the braid to it. Just practice the uni-uni a couple times. It's really not hard.

Potomac Help
I don't know of any spots on the GW Parkway up that way. Most of it is elevated pretty high above the water and the water there gets VERY deep. If you find a spot, make sure you have a DC license.

How to solve the drug problem
Poisoned product is not good for business. I know sometimes it is used, but I would think non-poisonous fillers are WAY more common. I was being facetious, but I meant really poisoning a large portion of the drug supply. Do that yearly and make sure people know that it is being done. If people think their drugs will kill them they will think twice about buying them.

To determine if "they evaluated both rods the same"

Abu Garcias Vendetta rated better than Shimanos Cumulus!!!!
If you asked the TT guys, I think they would tell you that the Vendetta is not in the same league as the Cumulus.

Yeah, I'm leaving it. Nothing against you, I just don't think that's accurate. If I find out I'm wrong, I'll send you $15 to buy yourself a new blank. ;D

It's just graphite not gold friend the stuff is cheap id love for one poster to be able to confirm that price. So your calling me a liar then. would you like to see a confidential Invoice from a manufacture in order to belive it? don't think anyone could come up with that. think about it. A 600$ rod has a 15$ blank well a 100$ rod probably has a $2.50 blank so your 600$ is still 6x the cost of a 100$ rod Believe it or not it's true I don't think you are a liar. I just think you are mistaken.

I just don't believe that a high end blank costs that little to make.

Bass Pro anti-CCW - Resolved.
Makes perfect sense to me. They sell guns...why would they want people to walk around with them in their pockets? I see it preventing a lot of confusion.

I have a friend who owns a rod manufactering company in Korea. They spin their own blanks and such he said that no matter how expensive the rod is the blank it's self when it's first made costs no more than 15$ for even the extremely top end rods like the 1,000 evergreen the rest of the cost is componets and then from there they like to make at least 100% profit but try fo 200% if they can I am a rod builder for a living for a small manufacturer/saltwater retail store in the northeast. You guys would be amazed by the cost of some "high end" blanks from major manufacturers if you're on their top end programs. I could build a SCV St Croix with Fuji titanium guides for under $200. Things that drive the costs up are Matagi seats which can run $30+ wholesale but a simple Fuji ESC seat runs only $3-$5. That being said, why don't I build freshwater rods my self. Well, I have. But when you make rods 8-10 hours a day it's a job and not a hobby. So how much does the SCV blank cost?
