Revo/Wiley X promotion
Not the way I read it. It ain't no deal as far as I'm concerned. Nope, nice reels, cheap sunglasses. I was actually needling Dan. with complications. Another: will I be able to write off the full value of the reel purchase if the reel is for business use? Or will I have to deduct the value of the glasses from that write off? And what brand of braid should I use on the reel? C'mon Dan, you have the answers. ;D Yes, you can write off the reel, but only if it catches fish. You do not have to deduct the value of the glasses (but you would have to deduct them if they were Costa Del Mars or Maui Jims) As for braid, I still like spearmint flavored Glide dental floss.

What section of the Holston has the best bass fishing? What is the river like? Is it fast, deep, lots of rapids, etc...?

Today at Mercer
There is still plenty of information being shared but a lot of it is being done face-to-face, through PMs, or between people who have actually met.

ATTENTION: SWVA
We fished a stretch from Eggleston to Pembroke and also a little near Radford.

ATTENTION: SWVA
We'll have a rematch later in the summer and we'll invite the SWVA crew so we can have a SWVA/NOVA fish off.

Yeah, I thought about it. I think some of us threw them for a while.

ATTENTION: SWVA
It wasn't murky but it wasn't clear enough to see. Also, it would have been very difficult to get in and out of the kayak to go in after it. Last thing I wanted was to tip over and lose more stuff.

Any dream interpreters?
Last week I had a dream that involved the outboard falling off my friend's boat and sinking 50 ft to the bottom. Then I swam down and tied a rope to it and we pulled it up. I think it means I should start diving competitively....or competing in the world's strongest man competition.

ATTENTION: SWVA
I spent about 75% of the time throwing an inline spinner for musky and had one follow and splash me at the boat. I spent 15% of the time trying to snag the Cumara + Stradic that I lost overboard in 12ft of water to no avail. The rest of the time was throwing a jig/crank for smallies...also to no avail. For some reason I still thought it was a nice trip.

New River
I've waded at Parrot and also at Radford right there by the athletic fields.

Some of the USGS stations used to have temperature readings but I don't think any of them have them anymore.

what a good fluorocarbon line to use for flipping and pitching on weed edges ?
I would use braid instead of fluoro. If you are set on fluoro, I would go with 17lb in that situation. Trilene 100% is good, Seaguar Invizx is better.

SMfisher, are you in that area regularly? We could really use some intel on river conditions in the next few days.

Had a run in with the Game Warden today
yeah, it would be completely unreasonable for a game warden to be skeptical when you say you aren't fishing for trout with a known trout lure just because it is possible to catch other fish with it. If they believed everything that fisherman told them when confronted they'd be out of the job. Why should wardens have to assume that everyone is telling them the truth? See it from their side. They get lied to everyday. They can't just take your word for it.
