  1. I feel that I learned a few valuable lessons on this trip, about spinnerbaits. My new tx partner was a big help. All, I know is that I look forward to catching more fish on that spinnerbait. Big Ones! ;D
  2. We were throwing spinnerbaits with white or white and chartruese skirts. One willow leaf blade, one colorado blade. The retrieve was just fast enough to keep it working over the grass. They hit it like a freight train. We were working points and then moving out deeper and casting over the grass flats and retreiving towards the deep water.
  3. Went to Varner last night after work, and met my new tournament partner there. We went out for two hours, and I am glad we did. I caught my first and second Bass ever on a Spinnerbait. The only bad part of it was, the biggest one, actually swallowed the spinnerbait and was hooked clear back in the gills. He was pouring blood all over by the time I got him in the boat, and so I had to keep him and fillet him out. We landed 4 fish total in 2 hrs. with the big one going 3 + lbs. and the smallest about 2. We lost or missed 4 or 5 more in that time as well. It was a good 2 hrs on the water. Oh, and Fluke? If I can catch fish on a spinnerbait, there is hope for you too... ;D ;D
  4. Spurs win this year, and MAYBE again next year, after that I think the NBA is gonna be wide open... with Cleveland, Phoenix, Dallas, Portland(yes I said Portland) Maybe Toronto, and Minnesota all competing for the title. Notice please there is no mention of a team from Hollywood.......... they just are never gonna win with Kobe by himself, and he has already proven he doesnt want to share the ball with a dominant big man,,,,, sooooooooooooooooooooooooo read between the lines.......... NO TITLE FOR KOBE, until he grows up..
  5. I keep two spinning rods in the boat at all times, 1 6 1/2 ft. med. hvy, and 1 7 ft. MH. Would not change either one of them for a med. action rod when it comes to soft plastics or standard finesse fishing. Now if I am dropshotting that is another story. I use a 8 1/2 ft. MH spinning rod with back bone but a real soft tip.
  6. and that is where reality bites myth in the ***,,, how perfect!!!!! ;D ;D ;D

I will stay on land or in the boat, thank you very much!!!! :o Impressive fish, the guy deserves kudos for being able to fight the fish for that long and land it.

better that than a snake or a scorpion or a black widow....
  14. After our phone conversation I thought I would reiterate my feelings on this subject here. The G Loomis rods, Kistler rods etc.. are fantastic rods. However, if you are rough on your rods, they may or may not be the best for you. Those rods are fantastic for feel and sensitivity, but you give up (what I call flexibility in a rod) in other words they dont take the abuse that I deal out to a rod very well. They seem to be more brittle, so if you go to set the hook on what you think is a monster, and it turns out to be a stump and there is no give, you are more likely to break off the tip in my opinion. I know one guy that broke off 6 in. of a G Loomis rod when a hybrid hit his lure like a frieght train. Sure it was replaced under warranty,, however, he had to drive 2 hrs. ea. way to get it replaced, and lost a day fishing because of the drive. I love the BPS rods. For the money (and they are all on sale right now for Father's Day) you can not beat them. I own a Tx Special, a Bionic Blade and a BPS Extreme. My Extreme is a spinning rod, and I use it almost exclusively for my plastics fishing. It is a 7ft. MH, and I can feel every thing my lure touches thru the rod. I also use a flourocarbon line, for more sensitivity as well (by the way, thanks again RW for the info on Ultra Soft Line I love it). Hooksets are fantastic as well. Most of the time, the fish hooks themselves, all i have to do is fight them to the boat. I have yet to lose a fish on that paticular rod once they are hooked up. The BPS Extreme is a 60 mil modulus rod, which to me is the break even point on a rod.(greatest sensitivity without giving up flexibility) Which even the rod and reel guys at BPS told me they get fewer returns on broken rods with this one than any of the other higher content rods and higher priced ones they sell. For the 69.00 price right now on sale, I do not think there is a better rod out there period. Just my humble opinion. Good luck, and I am looking forward to hitting Varner with you in a couple three weeks. John

  16. House, Sportscenter, reruns of Mash, then, I have to suffer thru reality shows with my wife like Big Brother, Biggest Loser, Bachelor, etc...... but that is better than having her switch on Lifetime,,,,,,,, God I hate that channel ;D ;D ;D ;D
  17. Hey, the Celtics want Randolph or Darius Miles????? We will let them go cheap for like the 5th pick in the draft.... maybe we can get 2 lottery picks in Portland again this year...... By the way, how is Telfair working out?????? Man am I glad we unloaded his dead weight..... Sorry Boston, but can not feel sorry for the best all time franchise in NBA History
  18. Do not mean to hijack this thread, but how do you get races out that seem frozen? I have tried driving them out, but they wont budge. Is there a special tool that works on these? Never dealt with races this tight before.
  19. Amen! Thank you to all and WE HAVE NOT FORGOTTEN!!
  20. Aint that the darn truth,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ;D ;D ;D ;D
  21. As far as the original ? I have always stuck a fish in the gills with a knife, bled them out. That is the way I was taught by my dad, and my uncles on salmon, steelhead, large trout, crappie, cod, sea bass, any and all fish you were gonna eat.
  22. Welcome Aboard, we definately need more ladies in this place,,, maybe Muddy will straighten up some??? :o ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
  23. Well, it finally happened. Finally, my team gets the #1 pick in the NBA Draft, and they beat long odds to do it. GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO BLAZERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  24. There is an electronic device that you can get, that sends out some kind of signal and keeps them out of your yard, will have to call my sister and ask her, she used it when she renovated her yard and planted new grass. It worked great.
  25. Way to go Muddy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are an inspiration.
