  1. Truer words were never spoken...... Good post Jim. Falcon
  2. It happens here on St. Clair all the time. I always hear people say there is nothing more heart-stopping than a top water strike. That's because they haven't had a muskie grab a bass or walleye as you're about to put a landing net under it. They will grab the fish and thrash on the surface, you'd think you were watching a scene from "Jaws"......................then you go home and clean yourself up. Falcon
  3. I agree with Avalonjohn44, with that tail it looks more like a swimming type bait. Falcon
  4. Thanks Avid!! I haven't had any success with either the chatterbait or swimming senko. I read your post and thought it would work in my canal. I took my Boogie Bait and put on a watermelon swimming senko and within five minutes I landed two three pound bass. Great idea, thanks again, Falcon
  5. Absolutely not. Actually you were quite a gentleman. I've had guys come right to my boat and and cast over my line. After our lines got tangled, they got upset with me. It's happened twice. It's hard to believe that on a 475,000 acre lake, they couldn't give me a little space. I just don't understand people sometimes. Falcon BTW, was Gerald Swindle in the boat by chance?LOL
  6. Go with the Revo, I've had mine for two weeks now and worked it like crazy. It casts like a dream and has a smooooth drag. What more could ask for? Falcon
  7. Except for my new Revo SX, all my reels are round Abu's. I have big hands and they just feel better in my hand. One thing nobody has mentioned, I was always told the round reels typically have better drag systems. Hey Avid, How do you like that Indiron? I've heard some good reports, just curious to know how you like it. Falcon
  8. Hi Mike, I use Abu Garcia exclusively, but I got a Browning Citori combo for my grandson last Thanksgiving during their big sale. When I got it home, I tried it out in my canal and was very pleasantly surprised at how good it performed. I took some casts into a mild breeze and without thumbing the spool I was six-for-six without backlashes. I've used it a little this spring and caught a few LMB. It has performed flawlessly. It also has a smooth drag. Good luck, Falcon P.S. look for the Big Brown Truck on Thursday.
  9. A good friend of mine got a boron rod about ten years ago and that's all I heard about. It was a very sensitive and light. He had a major stroke a few years ago, and can't fish any more. I've been trying to find a tactful way to ask him if I can take that rod off his hands. I just don't want to sound like an insensitive JERK. Falcon
  10. When I bought my Revo SX last week the store gave me the rebate form at the time of sale. As far as the bag goes, I got the tackle bag they were offering last year, and it's great. Falcon
  11. Enjoy the next two days with your friend. Considering you will not see him much now, two days of fishing REALLY IS the only responsible thing to do. Being a retired college instructor, when students came to me with a situation like this, I always gave them more time. Have fun, Falcon Oh, by the way. I'm looking through my Minn Kota manual and I can't find anything about any trim settings either. LOL
  12. What a horrible tragedy. When we got the new boat a couple years ago, I promised my wife that if I was on the boat by myself, I'd wear my PFD. I haven't missed a day yet. Give your partner our condolences. Falcon
  13. Judging by the pictures I have of Michigan fish, I think it's a mooneye. Falcon
  14. So many things, but I think the best is when I set the hook and the bass shoots left or right and jumps three feet out of the water...........What a rush!!! Falcon
  15. Welcome to the best fishing site on the net. Falcon
  16. I'm surprised you are having trouble with the reel. I purchased a Browning Citori combo that BPS had on sale at Thanksgiving. I figured it would be a good set-up for my grandson to learn baitcasting. After getting it home I tested it in my canal and was pleasantly surprised at how well it worked. I even took a few casts into a mild breeze with no backlashes. I use Abu Garcia exclusively, but for the price of the Citori, think it is a pretty decent reel. Maybe you got a faulty one. I would take it back for a replacement. Good Luck, Falcon
  17. The public access at the mouth of the Clinton River, or the one at the end of M-59 would be good places to start. You could go to Metro Beach, but it's a long walk to carry alot of equipment, but this time of year it might be worth it. Falcon
  18. There is one about three blocks from my house. It's on the west side of Jefferson about three blocks north of 21 Mile rd. The name is "The Bridge". Phone # 586-949-6645 He sells live bait and some basic tackle also. There used to be one near Metro Beach also, but I can't find the phone number. I think the name was "Jimmy's". I'll see if I can hunt it down. Falcon
  19. AMEN!!! Falcon
  20. Glad you're back. I hope to be in Orlando next February, maybe you could lead me in the right direction for some bank fishing. Falcon
  21. Every spring the carp come into my canal to spawn, and the whole time they are there I'm catching largemouth. I don't see them as a problem, but an indicator that the bass will be present. Falcon
  22. I agree with Dan, they are fantastic. Falcon
  23. Hey Brian, I think you should have put this in the "I just got a headache section"LOL STAY SAFE, Falcon
  24. I don't fish tourneys anymore because of my spine problems (I've had six spine surgeries due to an auto accident). I can only spend two or three hours at a time in the boat. Then there those days when I can't even go out. When I'm out there I'm in Heaven though. The only club I belong to is right here. Falcon
  25. We always had success with the original floating Rapala size F11 and F13. The jointed ones worked well also. Falcon
