  1. Yeah, I’m amazed at how fast they can go before you even have time to react. I’ve only been flipping for a year and I’m still having difficulty distinguishing a bite at times. I even find myself questioning whether I felt a bite or I was just wishing a bite.?
  2. 8:3.1 Lews, 7’6” heavy/fast Lews, 50lb. Smackdown It should be noted that I’m in a kayak so I’m already at a disadvantage. If I get stuck it’s usually because I didn’t detect the bite.
  3. On occasion while flipping thick pads the fish wraps around a pad and gets stuck. The pads I fish are thick and tough. Most of the time when I try to dig them out their gone. How do you handle it when they get stuck? Do you let them run? Apply equal pressure? Pull harder?
  4. We have a state run lake down here that they sprayed last year. This year the pads are twice as thick. I’m convinced that the only way to rid pads is to draw the lake down to nothing. The HOA is wasting their money.
  5. Yep, I always keep my phone camera ready for events like this.
  6. I ditched the chute thingy.
  7. The micro swivel can damage the guides not the knot.
  8. I’ve had similar problems using double uni. I’m currently using Hank Parker’s tip, using a micro swivel. The only problem I’ve encountered is that your leader must be very short (6”) or it will destroy your guides. The only reason I use a leader is that I like the sensitivity of braid but I’m fishing rocks and they keep stealing my jigs. I haven’t lost a single jig sense I started using the leader.

Idk what strike king does to their baits but, dang they work. I’ve tried KOs that looked nearly identical and they just don’t produce like the SKs. Also, I have the same luck with just one claw remaining.
  10. 4 feet!!! Good lord!
  11. I “had” a pair of Rapala floating fish grips until today. My story; So I fish from a kayak and I typically like to put large fish in the water to calm down before I weigh/measure/ take pics. Today I caught what could have been my new IL PB but before I could weigh her my fish grip handle broke at the lanyard connector. Now there’s a eight pound bass swimming around with fish grips clamped on her lip. I summed it up to dumb luck until I found out that my buddy had the exact thing happen to him last week. Can anyone recommend some high quality fish grips? Fish over six pounds are rare around my area and I dang sure don’t like killing them!
  12. I’ve had it happen to me twice. Both on flouro. I’m thinking my line somehow got kinked on a earlier backlash. Idk, but I’m starting to rethink flouro.
  13. I’ve had water snakes climb on my kayak but rattlesnakes and moccasins would be a whole different story.?
  14. Congrats on the PB!
  15. Tell Mary Ann “ it may be small but it will run all night”!
  16. Another thing to think about is noise. Some of the pedal/ prop drives are noisy. I’ve never heard a noisy mirage.
  17. I’m going to Newton this weekend. What should I be throwing?
  18. Here’s another tip for getting jigs loose from rocks. Reel down just enough to bend the rod tip a little, then knock the rod handle with your free hand. Like your knocking on a door. It may take a couple of attempts but it works 80% of the time.
  19. I’d call that a good day! Nice vid.
  20. Thanks for sharing. I was actually looking at getting one for some remote strip pits around me. Now I’m thinking...maybe not!
  21. I know I’m tired of dressing like an Eskimo just to go fishing!
  22. How embarrassing it must be for Casey’s sponser to have a rod break on national tv.
  23. JK big rig, motorized. Need I say more...
  24. 7” is the way to go. I had a 5” and it was just too small for si. Contemplated a 9” but it eats too much power and was obtrusive. 7” is perfect, I just wish they had Mega.
  25. Now, let’s all go out and buy ten of them!
