  1. So.ILL. here.
  2. It’s out of control. Illinois governor closed state lakes and now federal and city lakes are being hammered every day of the week. Parking lots are full.
  3. Might I add. You get what you pay for. If you go cheap, you may be happy; or you may be miserable. There’s a reason Hobies cost 3 grand. I own a Jackson and have been happy with it for five years.
  4. Comfort first and foremost. Your spending 4,5,6,9 hours in a plastic boat.
  5. IDNR’s response has accomplished the exact opposite of what their intentions are. The few open lakes have become overcrowded. Parking lots are full every day of the week. Where I used to see four or five boats, I’m seeing twenty. Ridiculous!
  6. Y’all just stay up north; there ain’t no fish down here in So.IL.
  7. During the spawn I catch most of my crappie one foot from the waters edge.
  8. I went with a buddy on his “new” used boat. I backed it down the ramp and when I pulled up, the front of the trailer went with the truck while the back half stayed in the water. The only things holding his trailer together were the straps on his boat.
  9. I run a 7” after an upgrade from a 5”. It’s perfect. I would have gone bigger but the amp draw is considerably more on anything bigger.
  10. I’m trying to get into the big baits. I’ve been seeing a lot on FB Swimbait Universe. Nobody throws them down here ( So. ILL.) and I think it will give me an advantage.
  11. Jig Rookie: What type of rod are you using?
  12. Smackdown is great stuff, just don’t touch rocks with it.
  13. Bill dance says that 90 something percent of sound is reflected off the top of the water, thereby not affecting the fish at all.
  14. What flyfisher said. I’ve got a seven inch screen which I believe is perfect for a yak. Another consideration is power draw. Anything over seven pulls a lot of amps. The large transducers can be difficult to mount other than using a arm, which collects weeds if your around coontail or pads.
  15. Fished for 3 hours without a bite.? still don’t care.
  16. I’m going Thursday. Water looks like Yoohoo, 43 degrees. And I don’t care. Going anyhow!
  17. Absolutely. My favorite jigs.
  18. +1 floats, leashes are an entanglement hazard.
  19. You will be happy with a Cuda. I personally went with a Big Rig just for the added stability (I’m old and losing balance). But my trade off was speed. ( so I put a motor on it).
  20. Someday they will link a kill switch to the TM. I seen it happen too many times.
  21. Same here. If you fish any deeper waters it’s a must have.
  22. No, but it sure helped me lose a wife!
  23. Both but I’d say if I get stuck it’s usually while sitting.
