By the lip. Oh yeah...don't try it with pickerel.

Dead fish avatars
Yeah, a kitchen shot is a sure fire way to make sure you get very few responses when you ask how to catch bigger and better bass. Not judging either but..... :-/

4/4/08--Big Bluegill on a 'strange' bait...
Wow, that's a fat blue gill. One question though...what's all that green stuff on the ground and in the trees in the background?

frog techniques??
I hear ya man. From bass anyway. The last time I spent much time throwing one was a Bull Ribbit that the pickerel were going berserk over. The place was lousy with them and I wasn't getting any bass bites so I kept working the frog and enjoyed the show. Fortunately I had packed my gloves.

A Shoutout for NH Fishermen!!!
I swung by a local spot yesterday but lots of tree cover has prevented the snow banks at the entrance to the seasonal access road from melting and my new Focus (laugh if you want but it gets 33mpg!) wasn't gonna make it. I drove around a bit and the resi is still pretty well iced in but I found a small spot that I didn't know about that was open. I threw a few dozen casts but despite my optimism and jones for that first fish I got skunked. Soon enough!

What are your fishing weaknesses?
Cranks and spinnerbaits. I guess I'm the odd man out because I like working a senko or jig slowly. There's something about the quiet being abruptly interrupted by a slight tap or even better a BAM! when it's inhaled that's more exciting than a fast moving bait getting hit. Most of the time a crank getting hit just feels like added pressure and it's like 'Ok, I got one'. Almost anticlimactic. The exception that makes it a rule (for me anyway) is a top water strike. I don't care how fast the bait's moving, getting hit on the surface is a rush! That's just my .02 and I'm a weirdo so what can I say?

Fish Finder For Use in Kayak
I've thought about putting one in my kayak but haven't even begun to research a unit or how to mount it. KFS is a great resource for DIY mods to yaks and is where I'm going to spend some time reading up on it when I'm ready. http://kayakfishingstuff.com/'> http://kayakfishingstuff.com/

Jig Adjustments on the Fly?
Last year was the first time I really stuck with jigs and a lot of mixing it up with 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2oz, different trailers, color schemes etc. The combo that worked best for me and built a good amount of confidence in a bait that I NEVER had any confidence in was 1/4oz green or blue/black with a GYCB Flappin Hog. Keep at it. If I can catch a bass on a jig ANYONE can!!!

Photoshopping pictures
Unless some jackazz recognizes the 12 pack of empties and 20 Winston butts he left there last week. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Can't wait to see that pic FC!

Photoshopping pictures
The whited out backgrounds take away from the pic if you ask me but I won't fault anyone for protecting their hot spot from additional pressure. I'm sure many of those locations aren't really secrets anyway and any more boats on the water could blow it up for everyone. Maybe a zoom and crop would better keep the "integrity" of the pic that some seem to be considered about without giving a location away because of a landmark in the background? Just a thought...

Do you carry concealed?
NH is shall issue as all states should be IMO but I'm not going to open that can of worms. : I don't carry as often as I did when I lived in CT but my Ruger SP101 is always along when I'm fishing or camping.

A forgetable day....
Happy B Day. I feel your pain, we got about 7" here but only a couple inches at work in Methuen so hopefully you didn't get too much. Just when you think you've seen the last of it...you haven't!

Favorite Crankbait
Rapala JSR's in green craw and perch. Baby bass is close behind but the green craw seems to be irresistible with a reeeeeeeal slow retrieve.
-
perch
Shad Raps in perch and crawdad have been the two most productive cranks for me. Definitely worth having on hand.

Your favorite soft plastic stickbait color?
This one. Let me know when they're back in stock.

Cable Company (rant)
We use to use cable and it was a necessary evil. We were told that the trees in our yard eliminated the possiblity of Dish or Direct TV, so we dealt with the expensive cable. We eventually cut down a few trees, due to damage and disease, so we got Dish network, and I have to say I can't wait until it is gone (tomorrow). Everyone says that they rarely lose signal, but we lose signal when the weather person just mentions a chance of rain. We have had Dish now for about 6 months and have lost signal for several hours too many times to count and for more than a day at least 3 times, and Dish's tech supports only answer is that "well clouds and rain can affect the signal strength and we can't control the weather." Long story short we are ditching Dish and going to ATT Uverse tomorrow. We are going to get 300 channels, compared to 250, 4 tuners, one with DVR capable of recording 4 different shows at the same time, HD and local channels for less that we are paying for Dish. BTW, 250 channels is way more than we ever watch, but I have to get the 300 channel package just to get the 10 or so channels that I actually watch and the movie channels my wife watches. Hmmm, I guess we've been lucky...say it quietly so the weatherman doesn't hear...
