Catt, We stayed at 6 Mile Marina last year for a few days while there was some work being done on our camp. I've got nothing but nice things to say. We stayed in a trailer right next to the landing and found it very nice. Also the owner's are great people and very accommodating. My only "complaint" was there is no dock to tie up a boat. You will have to beach the boat at the landing. But this was not really a problem. When are you planning on going? Our camp is only about 300 yards from the marina.

I've used the barrel swivel until I found the Parasite Clip. I use these mostly on 10" worms ans the standard size Zoom Brush Hog.

I've been using a Devil's Horse since the1960's and it is still really effective. As for colors I use chrome/blue back, chrome/black back, silver shiner, and perch.

I agree that you're over-thinking this. I have as much confidence in a Gene Larew Salt Craw as a jig trailer, which has no movement other than what I impart during the retrieve. That's not to say that I don't use a Rage Craw at times, but I don't really worry about how much action a trailer has.

Depends on where I'm fishing. In my home waters of south Louisiana I use a double colorado or a colorado/willow life spinnerbait most of the time. At Toledo Bend or Sam Rayburn I'm usually using a tandem willow leaf with gold blades. If the water is 6' or less, just throw whatever you have the most confidence in.

I always go with the spinnerbait in this situation.

I've been using this for several years and it really works. It has saved me several times when 've been running short on something that is producing that particular day.

When fishing close to my home in Baton Rouge I'm anywhere from 45 minutes to 1 hour and 20 minutes from the landings I use. The house we have on Six Mile Creek at Toledo Bend is 4 hours away. I've got numerous options once there that are close by including Sam Rayburn which is only 30 minutes from the house.

I use the P-Line CXX in clear blue fluorescent in 17# and 20# for Texas Rigs and jigs. It's really good line.

I can assure you that is a Swimmin Minnow made by Tackle Industries. My Dad used these in the 1960's before we had Rattle Traps.

A black & yellow spinnerbait with copper blades and a green spotted pork frog has been a standard in the Atchafalaya Basin for decades. I also catch fish on a skirt made from brown/copper glitter, pumpkin/green glitter and orange. I use this on a jig and a spinnerbait.

I've used this rig several times and had success with it. I was impressed with how little it hung up in cypress knees and laydown trees.

I was fishing alone on a Mississippi River oxbow one night many years ago during a full moon. Around 4:00 AM had decided to fish an area near the landing and then call it a night. As I neared the landing I heard a series of long, slow howls that I was sure came from the landing area. I don't know if it was a dog, coyote, or a rougaroo (Cajun werewolf) but I sure wasn't going to find out. Needless to say I got the hell out of the area and waited until after daylight to come home. I'm not one that spooks easily, but Mama didn't raise no fool.

This month I'm using the following: Jig (with craw trailer) Fliptail Lizard, Strike King Rodent, or Zoom Brush Hog (Texas Rigged) Rat-L-Trap Spinnerbait (7/16 oz. with single #7 Colorado Blade and pork frog trailer)

I use Bang Pure Anise spray and Kick'n Bass Garlic scents.

Same here. Summers in south Louisiana are brutal. Once the temps start getting into the mid 90's during the day (usually be mid May) I'm going to be fishing a night.

I make a 7/16 oz. spinnerbait that I use with a single 4 1/2 Hildebrandt colorado blade that I feel comfortable slow rolling down to about 6-7 feet. I can fish it deeper but I'd rather go to a 1/2 oz. in the 8-10 foot range.

Catt gets an upvote on this. I've used this combination for many years in the Atchafalaya Basin and the marshes in south Louisiana.

I live in south Louisiana. I never shut it down. I make a couple of duck/goose hunting trips a year but other than that I'm on the water at least 3-4 days a week since I retired last year.

Most people have no idea how deadly a Johnson Silver Minnow with a #11 pork frog can be. It's still one of my favorites in heavy cover.

I keep a jig and Texas rig on the deck at all times. I just trade back and forth until I find which one seems to be the most productive that particular day.

Wow. So many memories over the past 56 years of bass fishing. Almost too many to count. H&H spinnerbait (caught my first bass on this) Arbogast #2 Hawaiian Wiggler Snagless Sally and Johnson Silver Minnow (I still catch fish on these) Fliptail and Creme Shimmy Gal worms Bagley Balsa B's Arbogast Mudbug (Agree 100% that Toledo Bend was the Mudbug Capital of the World. In fact when I was there in mid-October I caught most of my fish on a Mudbug that I bought in the mid-70's.)

With your experience, I doubt you would have any problem figuring things out. I'll gladly trade trips with you on the Basin for lessons on Toledo Bend.
